Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

If they do use his conversations with Trump as part of the case, Rudy is right.

Depends if Cohen can prove that he’s been retained as his Attorney and working on this subject, otherwise there’s a fraud clause.

Being an attorney doesn’t automatically give you immunity in all criminal investigations, otherwise every criminal ever would be an attorney for everyone in their mob.

He is at the center of two major controversies over the past 18 hours - both of which are working against Trump. If this trend continues, he will at some point reveal something that breaks the case. Also, Emmet Flood, Trump's new lawyer, won't tolerate this sort of kneejerk freelancing from Rudy.

Guiliani could be a plant.

I guess that's the point of revealing that Trump indeed paid Cohen for Daniels - that then proves he was acting as his attorney.

Yep that makes sense. They no doubt got wind of the wiretap and wanted to get ahead of the news. Giuliani drops Trump in the shit with regards to campaign finances because it’s the lesser of the two evils right now.

It would then make sense if they were the ones to leak about the wiretap with their talking heads all primed ready to push the “SHOCKING. OUT OF CONTROL DEEP STATE FBI WIRETAP US CITIZEN DESPITE ATTORNEY CLIENT PRIVILEGE, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH”.

Trump will then follow up with lots of quotes from Fox and Friends and Hannity “lawyers” imploring him to sack Mueller.

This just keeps getting better and better.

McGahn already has one foot out the door, but for Flood, this will be a big problem since Trump and Rudy know things that they may not share with him. A nightmare for a lawyer.

Not sure if this one got posted.

I don't understand what that has to do with anything. This is not about money trump received.

He's an underrated character in all this. You'd have to think Kellyanne is smart enough to have kept herself out of all the worst of it, the real inner circle stuff that will take them down in the end. So I'd guess her husband has felt sufficiently insulated to consistently and not-so-subtly knock down Team Trump whenever he can.

That goes to the heart of the legal issue with the Stormy Daniels payment. If it was simply him paying a woman before he was running as a candidate with a political campaign fund, there wouldn't be much of a story (beyond the adultery/porn star aspect). Hush money isn't inherently illegal. But, with respect to campaign finance laws, that guideline shows that a payoff on behalf of Candidate Trump as a benefit to his campaign and should be considered a political donation - but it was never previously reported as such and it far exceeds the limits of allowed political donations to a candidate.

You don’t have to receive money for it to be a gift. If your Parents paid off your credit card, would you say that was a gift to the bank or a gift to you?

I love that he does. These tweets must cause consternation in the White House.

Guiliani's scatter gun approach is making things worse. That's what you get you are scraping the barrel for lawyers.

Are we sure he has another week or two if we keep going like this?

Likely not. Trump brought him onboard because he knows Mueller and he has a high public profile and can go on TV to argue on behalf of the case. That obviously backfired spectacularly on Hannity last night so I doubt he will stick around for too much longer, especially if he keeps doing what he did last night.

I get that. The point I'm making is that the tweet is about money trump received whereas the investigation is about money trump allegedly gave. 2 diff things, no?

Hope he never leaves personally

See above. That's not what I'm taking about.

I really do think that when Mueller is finished, the evidence is all laid out and the charges are filed, Trump is going to be placed right in the middle of it all if not dictating everything at least aware of it.

For now though they’re keeping that under wraps because it would obviously be catastrophic if that got out.

The biggest fish are always last. I'd imagine Stone and Trump are both in that category.
