Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

Bit of a sensationalist headline. Even if they pass it does anyone expect Trump to sign it into law? Its a waste of senate time.

2/3’s vote in favour and it wouldn’t have to land on Trump’s desk to be passed.

It’s irrelevant though, one of the Senate or Congress will either have to act if Trump obstructs or fires Muller or they will have to accept that a blue wave is inevitable and the Democrats will rehire Muller with more protection, more funding and less tiptoeing around the real issues.

Yep, but moreso in that it suggests McConnell has closed the door for a bill protecting Mueller, when all he says is that atm he doesn't think that Mueller is going to be fired and therefore it's not necessary. You could even argue that while the headline is technically correct the more general suggestion it throws out there* is actually wrong because e contrario of 'it's not necessary because he is not being fired' is that 'if, in fact, he's fired action will be taken'. It's politics though so what do words even mean.

*which could easily be put into perspective by 'for now' at the end, so I would allege intent.

Excellent, let the backstabbing and infighting...well, not begin...move to the next level?

Best bit is that killing the Mueller investigation won't necessarily make the Cohen problem go away. He will almost certainly still get nailed at the state level.

Hehe, mentioned to Trump that Cohen might wear a wire. He's now pretty much guaranteed to think about that every time he speaks to him in future :D

Trump apparently called him the other day after the story broke. I'll bet that was listened to by the feds.

Can we assume that Sean Hannity introduced and recommended Jay to Trump?

Sekulow has been a religious right lawyer for decades. He used to be a lawyer for the 700 club, so I'm guessing someone from the religious Republican crowd may have recommended him.

Exactly, and I don't anyone should underestimate how intentional that was on Mueller's part. Immmediately creates the legal space to attack, if you will.

Seriously though, if this was a movie how long ago would you have switched off?

I’m trying to figure out one of two things...

  1. If this wouldn’t be funny in a movie because it was too ridiculous and unbelievable, can it still be funny in real life?
  2. If in the future I think “this movie is too ridiculous and unbelievable to enjoy it”, should I move the goal posts a bit and judge it against this?
I would have read the brief on IMDB and declared it as unwatchable.

Would be massive. The Steele Dossier would take a backseat to the simple question of whether Cohen was in Prague after all his vehement denials.

Seen a few mentions of Trump being advised not to trust Cohen now too. Laying the ground for throwing him under the bus.

So he likely was in Prague as claimed in the Steele dossier presumably.

This has the potential to be the most significant development in the whole investigation so far.

So Cohen is Saul Goodman. Is he even Jewish?

Or he could be fighting a federal case while fighting Avenatti in a civil case and decided that this is way too much on his plate at the moment.

I'm sure he didn't wake up yesterday and realise he was open to discovery when suing someone

There was some suggestion about the Cohen in Prague having entered on an Israeli passport. It was suggested this was proof it was a different Cohen, but I can't help but wonder if Michael Cohen has duel nationality that we don't know about. At least one of his parents were Holocaust survivors I believe.

I've seen a lot for people mock it on twitter, is it really that bad?
Apparently, they accept majority of applicants, have high rates of unemployment 9 months after graduation, and made up their own ranking system to boast about themselves.

I don't understand how Trump supporters can say they are worried about Cohen flipping and say Trump is innocent in the same breath.
