Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

Can only pray that somehow Tucker Carlson is involved and my justice boner will explode probably.
Shephard Smith will probably sleep very very well if that somehow became true. While we re at it, let's also hope Laura Ingraham is somehow tied to all this as well and Trump s election could end up being very good for the country indeed.

It's making sense now why Hannity has been in the bag for Trump from day one. A little bit of leverage held by Trump's personal fixer?

I'm on the fence when it comes to Schindler but this was an interesting tweet back in August...

Don't know this guy, but this makes a little bit of sense to me.

And if true, who is the REAL client #3?

I don’t think it makes sense at all. They’re not just going to grant it without evidence backing up the claims.

Conflicting reports on Twitter regarding the outcome of the hearing: can anyone fill us in?

Yeah that picture stuck out to me too. I can’t work out if he’s just heard some info he doesn’t like or if that’s just his resting gorm face.

I suspect this is the beginning of act 3 - the final act that will see this through conclusion.
I made a very similar comment to my brother the other day, that Act 2 was really picking up pace. I guess it will all depend on what Congress decides when it all comes out, and whether that happens before November. They would have the power to force his resignation but I am leaning more than ever that they'll let it drift as long as possible knowing that the polls will still hover at 30%+ no matter what. Forcing him to resign before the midterms would be game over for a long time. Delaying any meaningful action until after could at least let them keep some seats they'd have otherwise lost and be in a better position for 2020.

If Mueller hands out indictments to Trump, his family, his inner circle and various other satellites and proves treason and the GOP still do not act there is going to be a huge blue wave anyway and the resulting Democrat leadership will destroy their agenda.

Prosecutors must turn over docs
Looks like a minor court victory for Cohen, despite all the Hannity hoo-ha.
Although the temporary restraining order was not granted, according to CNN Judge Wood ruled that "prosecutors have to share the seized material from last Monday's raid to Cohen's attorneys so they can tell the judge how much of it might be subject to attorney client privilege. Cohen's lawyer can then share subsets of the material to Trump and the Trump Organization. Judge Wood indicated she would rule after prosecutors and Cohen come back with an estimate of the volume of material that could be subject to attorney client privilege. She will then decide whether a government "taint team" of investigators separate from the investigation or an appointed special master would ultimately review the seized materials before prosecutors can use the evidence in the investigation. The judge asked both sides to provide four names each as potential special masters, but made clear she has not decided that will be her final decision".

That’s not major news though, any defendant is always allowed access to the evidence being used against them, they just have access a bit earlier.

The prosecutors will have a team rattling through those files in double time, it’ll then be up to Cohen’s team to argue why each specimen should be dismissed which will be an incredibly difficult task.

Thanks @Pexbo, always succinct and to the point :)

having the information after is a huge difference. Having access before the FBI get to see it is a delay tactic. The defence can argue what and what is or isnt privelge with the judge then it can finally go to a taint team who will then finally get it to the fbi

Only just got around at watching the Comey interview, after finding it on vimeo

It's a good interview in my opinion, particularly the second part seems to confirm what we all suspected. With the way things are developing, if Trump isn't gone around this time next year I'd be very surprised.

Man the thing with living other side of the world is that I wake up to these big news instead of catching them as they're breaking. The first thing I do when I'm up is reach for my phone.

If you liked that check out this shit show with KellyAnne in meltdown.....who looks like she just woke up in her car following a meth bender.

As far as I’m aware that isn’t what has happened here though. They’re being give access to the evidence collected during the raid so they can analyse it asynchronously. If they find anything they believe will fall under A-C privilege they have the right to argue to a judge for it to be withdrawn.

That’s a very difficult game for Cohen to be playing. There is likely to be hundreds of thousands of emails, documents, recordings, text messages ect ect.

While I don’t doubt that the investigators will be meticulous and find whatever is there to be found eventually, Cohen has the difficult decision to make:

1. Go for the most sensitive information first and try to secure it. This inevitably brings attention to it and there is no guarantee that it will be protected.

2. Play it cool and challenge anything that arises. The problem with this is the court of public opinion, what is not admissible in court as evidence is still fair game to journalists. What’s to stop a journalist investigating anything that is revealed, pulling up more evidence and this evidence forming the foundation of a new investigation?

In short, these people very much prefer their skeletons to be in a locked cupboard, things are more manageable that way.

Ok, listening to CNN panel with Wolf B; seems like the Judge will hear the views of prosecution, defence and some independent experts, and then rule, which will lead to a 'protracted legal battle'. But Hannity's denial can potentially be very damaging to Cohen (and Trump's) argument for client/attorney privelige.

EDIT: Or could it be some kind of clever ploy, a kind of all-or-nothing last ditch tackle? If the Hannity/Cohen relationship, which doesn't ostensibly seem like a lawyer client arrangement, (no payment involved, just a kind of friendly chat) turns out to be very like the Trump/Cohen relationship, and if it is still - in a technical sense - deemed to be a legally priveliged arrangement as per giving advice; then a big part of the documents seized might be covered by such privelige. I suppose DT's fixer could just be a total idiot.
