Trump/Russia/SDNY investigation

“I never paid legal fees to Michael,” Hannity said. “Michael never represented me in any matter.” He later added: I “may have” handed Cohen “ten bucks” and asked for attorney-client privilege.

:lol::lol::lol:

RAWK:

Just imagine how Sean Hannity would respond if it were true that Obama’s personal lawyer, the target of a criminal investigation, was also secretly the lawyer for Rachel Maddow—and she had been using her show to defend the lawyer without disclosing that relationship. Just imagine

Man the thing with living other side of the world is that I wake up to these big news instead of catching them as they're breaking. The first thing I do when I'm up is reach for my phone.

Same here -- its the best political daily soap opera ever.

Ok, listening to CNN panel with Wolf B; seems like the Judge will hear the views of prosecution, defence and some independent experts, and then rule, which will lead to a 'protracted legal battle'. But Hannity's denial can potentially be very damaging to Cohen (and Trump's) argument for client/attorney privelige.

EDIT: Or could it be some kind of clever ploy, a kind of all-or-nothing last ditch tackle? If the Hannity/Cohen relationship, which doesn't ostensibly seem like a lawyer client arrangement, (no payment involved, just a kind of friendly chat) turns out to be very like the Trump/Cohen relationship, and if it is still - in a technical sense - deemed to be a legally priveliged arrangement as per giving advice; then a big part of the documents seized might be covered by such privelige. I suppose DT's fixer could just be a total idiot.

Alternate theory on today's events is that Hannity fecked up. If he didn't dispute the relationship, their correspondence could be reasonable argued to fall under privilege. Not so now.

Given how things have gone for the Dumb Watergate Players, I'm more inclined to believe that take.

Cohen’s alma mater...

''cooley law school sucks so much shit that it made up its own ranking system and declared itself number one''
Hmmm... sounds familiar. Where have I seen this before?

Is Cooley affiliated with Trump University? This would be another Hannity moment.

Right, so the Judge is making sure there can be no accusation of bias by bringing the material before an independent counsel. The FBI keep their copies, the defense also get versions. They can fight out what is covered by privelige. And the material is rumoured to include recordings made by Cohen. So why does he name Hannity? At first I thought, it's like getting caught out in a naive lie or wooly obfuscation, and in desparation picking a random high profile name (I have heard of such cases). Maybe Cohen's case that he is an attorney, practicing law, with actual clients, is so thin, he felt he had no choice but to concoct this story. But - could this point to some of the content of the material? Is Hannity on the tapes?

I think they said it was Cohen's lawyer who gave up Hannity's name wasn't it? Can't see them being rattled and lying to a judge.

That's straight out of a TV show :lol:

feck off with your Pence and Spicer, they are anglo saxon and french :nono:

Pence's grandfather was a Cawley from Mayo. Dunno about Spicer, thought his roots went back to Cork maybe?

Too long - didn’t watch:

Both Avenatti and Jill Wine-Banks (prosecutor during Watergate) strongly suspect team Cohen didn’t want Hannity’s name out there because there was a document or something else they want to keep confidential. Wine-Banks thinks it’s not about legal advice, but that they are trying to keep quiet that Cohen and Hannity have discussed how to protect Trump via the media/his radio or TV show.

I don't think Hannity shilling for Trump is much of a secret though. He's been to Mar-A-Lago and the White House several times.

It might go a little deeper than shilling though. Hannity has a back channel to Assange. If they've got evidence that Trump has been communicating with Assange through Cohen, that would be serious shit.

Trump -> Cohen -> Hannity -> Assange -> ???? -> Putin

Well I don't think this revelation is going to have a massive impact on the Michael Cohen investigation or anything. Unless they've been incredibly stupid of course.

It's just another embarrassment for a President who claims the 'FAKE NEWS' media have been out to get him and are not the be trusted, spouting nothing but lies lies lies about him. Surely it's also embarrassing for Fox News, despite the fact that no sane person is under the impression they're a credible source of anything political. And for Hannity personally, surely a journalist should have (the public image of having) some kind of independency and an ethical standard.

Seperate from the Cohen investigation, Stormy Daniels is obviously suing Trump and Cohen for defamation and claims they've been trying to silence her and whatnot. I don't know if Hannity ever discussed the Stormy Daniels saga on one of his shows? But even if he didn't, Avenatti is going to use the fact that he and Michael Cohen are very close to support his argument that they've been trying to push Stormy around/publicly lie about her/intimidate her.

It's also funny as hell to see them being embarrassed!

You can bet Assange and his Russian GRU handlers are working overtime to hack that account as we speak

I wouldn't be surprised if it's a honey trap. Set up some interesting email conversations and see if BotNet starts working overtime against the information revealed in the conversations.

I'm not convinced this is a genuine attempt by Avenatti to gather intel. Seems like a play to put pressure on Cohen, stay in the media cycle. While the incident seven years ago might very well have happened I think it's near on impossible to 'ID the thug' and take something out of that. First of all the thug looks like a generic hipster, then it was in a garage (no witness testimony will be trustworthy in a shadowed environment seven years later), then what exactly did he say implicitly which is always hard to say and most importantly proof that Cohen did infact send him (odds are there are no records for that anyway). You guys think they could pull that off? I'm certainely sceptical.

From the reaction of Avenatti, you get the impression even he feels this has just been too easy :lol:

Wonder if they're going to hit a wall at some point.

Also, Hannity has definitely discussed the Stormy Daniels saga from the looks of it

They're so incredbly stupid, you couldn't make it up...
