Trent Alexander Arnold | Real Madrid working on deal (Ornstein)

He is getting destroyed by Liverpool fans on twitter. They turned on him so fast.

Never walk alone eh?

Bradley replacing Trent full time will be great for everyone who doesnt want Liverpool competing for trophies, maybe Harvey Elliott can replace Salah

Not sure you’re right about that; we’ll see. Trent is going to be a challenge to replace though. VVD is 34 this summer, Salah is 32. You’ve got to believe that Liverpool have been planning for their exits for a while.

Looks like Liverpool will be replacing both full backs then this summer.

Kerkez looks set for LB but no idea who theyll go for, for RB (possibly Aina?)

Bradley is okay but he has many limitations it’ll work out like Lewis replacing walker at City.. pretty much a disaster

I haven't seen any Liverpool fans complaining about how Madrid have acted.

You have not descended into the deepest pits of Twitter/X then. I have seen a fair few comments where either Madrid are an evil empire on a par with Putin's Russia or Trent himself is now below Gary Neville on their list of PL right backs. I do appreciate that the type of people that post in that toxic dump are not representative of the majority.

And Liverpool would be entitled to be upset about it if they hadn't signed the likes of Milner and Matip for free to name just a couple. The pearl clutching from Liverpool fans over the outrageous behavior of Real Madrid is both hilarious and hypocritical as they would cheerfully take Vini Jr on a free if they actually had the pull to attract him.

To be fair to them, I don’t think either of those were being tapped up so many months in advance. In fact, Milner could be seen as a coming down at that stage.

There was definite contact and encouragement here before the proper date, so I can understand their frustration. It would be the same if it was an important player here. There would be 100 pages about it already.

Oh I've seen plenty of higher profile accounts turning on TAA, like this was some kind of shock? I don't understand it myself. He's entitled to go and try something new.

I haven't seen anything about Madrid. We've done our own tapping up and dodgy dealings.

To be honest, who cares about degenerates who rant on Twitter about their football teams? All clubs have their irrational muppets - unfortunately they shout louder than those who are rational.

Romano claims that Madrid have scouted him for 3 years.

I am not sure I see the fit very clearly. But Madrid generally know what they are doing. Would be interesting to see whether he improves them.

Oh no, Madrid are going to win almost every CL now.

Surely he is a club legend by any metric?

Hes been with them for a long time (I do not know if he is a youth player or not), he’s been a good player and has been integral in a CL win and winning their first league title in 30 odd years.

I don’t see how he could not be a club legend?
I guess it depends on how you define club legend. He’s just about snuck into their top 50 appearance makers. Two league titles and one champions league. I’d say there’s a hell of a lot of players with more appearances and trophies throughout Liverpool’s history.

I’m not taking the piss but I don’t think he’d even gets in a top 50 list of United players based on what he won, appearances made etc.

I don’t know. I can’t bring myself to be angry with him. It is Spain and we’ve won a few things lately. Maybe it’s because he’s local and it’s a big move. Owen was different. He left us hanging on the cusp of maybe being very good and then we won Big Ears without him, which felt great. Moving to united sealed the deal with Owen as far as being out of favor with the supporters.

Yes they'd have been planning for life after Salah, hence Nunez, Diaz, Jota, Gakpo etc being brought in to supplement and eventually replace. However, finding anyone close to Salah's level is extremely difficult. I wish we could find one, screw them!

Or he agrees hence he joined a team who's XI he could actually get into instead.

He would had played here as we're lacking cb so I think it was due to Manchester United overpaying and his former team pressuring into signing for MU.

Anyway don't know what to expect from him but he comes at a good age so hope he works out for us.

It’s like the time Gerrard announced he was leaving for Chelsea - by the time he’d logged off his laptop the Scousers were already burning his shirt and other Stevie Effigies. Eventually he ended up making a U-turn because his hubcaps had been nicked.

For a so-called loyal fanbase they are incredibly fickle. I suspect the same will happen to Mo Salah.

Be sad to see the worst defending defender in prem history leave. Always a laugh trying to watch him try and stop anyone remotely quick

Looking at his stats, the last couple of seasons in the Premier league in terms of creating what exactly do you guys think he was brought in for. Because he hasn’t had a lot of assists is his chances created extremely high and they’re expecting Mbappé and Vinicius to put it away? Then add the fact that he can’t defend. I just don’t see the hype.

He was supposed to be a future captain of Liverpool and he was a local lad who has played for Liverpool throughout his whole career. I think the biggest problem for their fans is that he's leaving for free to Madrid in his prime.

We also had players who wanted to leave for Madrid like Beckham and Ronaldo but we made a lot of money out of those transfers. When Beckham left for Madrid, we invested his transfer fee to buy Ronaldo. Trent was supposed to be Gerrard 2.0 for Liverpool but he'll get the reception of Michael Owen once he retires.

Yes, he's still statistically one of the best attacking playmakers in Europe

For this season he’s 12th in the premier league for chances created, he doesn’t make the top ten big chances created in the world right now either, so he’s one of the best attacking playmakers in Europe how? Wouldn’t one of the best be top five or top 3?
