Woman who lost job after tweeting view on biological sex awarded £100,000

Award follows tribunal ruling that Maya Forstater was unfairly discriminated against because of her gender-critical beliefs

“A bigot is someone who is prejudiced or antagonistic towards a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group. I, and many other people with gender-critical beliefs, have been the victims, not the perpetrators, of discrimination fuelled by bigotry.”

feck off

transgender women can’t change their biological sex.

The case wasn't about that, so you can rest easy. Calling trans women men, saying it's delusional to think they're women, talking about men in dresses... That was the case.

“A man’s internal feeling that he is a woman has no basis in material reality. She also compared self-identifying trans women to Rachel Dolezal, a white American woman who misrepresented herself as black, and described it as “a feeling in their head”.

She is clearly calling trans women men and saying it's delusional - it's there in the article

to be fair aren’t their academics in the fields of psychology and psychiatry that suggest this is one aspect of this? Basically gender dysphoria?

trans people are not mentally ill, no.

maya and her ilk are basically saying they are and now getting rewarded for it. pathetic doesn't begin to describe it.

What does google seem to suggest to you?

Gender dysphoria in young people is rising—and so is professional disagreement
More children and adolescents are identifying as transgender and are being offered medical treatment, especially in the US—but some providers and European authorities are urging caution because of a lack of strong evidence

https://www.bmj.com/content/380/bmj.p382

Definitely a concern when you mix big Pharma into the equation.

What does that have to do with claiming that trans women are delusional men?

That's very different from, "A man’s internal feeling that he is a woman has no basis in material reality" which is what she said.

One is discussing a rise in diagnosis, the other is just hateful bigotry.

Where did she claim they were delusional? Struggling to find the quote.

It’s relevant because there’s disagreement within the scientific community about this. There clearly are people who have been encouraged to transition due to this based on a feeling of being a gender different to their biological sex.

you can’t go around firing people for expressing valid opinions and labelling them bigots.

Calling something a valid opinion doesnt make it a valid opinion. It's just an opinion

Her statements are in the lawsuit.

Where is the disagreement in the scientific community about whether or not trans women are delusional men?

Still can’t find where she calls trans women delusional. Some more here…

I’m a bit confused as to why you keep using the word delusional. It doesn’t strike me as particularly helpful for people who might be feeling they have a gender mis match with their biological sex.

I’ve already highlighted the BMJ article.

No, it's not helpful at all, but it was you who said it:

Almost half the states espouse this shit…

This is going to end up at the Supreme Court (not necessarily this law, but a law on this topic). This should be a slam dunk as the court loves "parental rights", but I can see this being a 5-4 ruling in favor of the laws.
