"The World has officially gone mad!

Perhaps a few people might like to revisit the squad valuation thread?"

Needs a water carrier quote really to emphasise it.

Forgetting that article, has he said that his preferred position is in midfield? If so, a little weird that as it'll limit his attacking instincts.

'In the future if I do play in midfield that's an attribute that I won't want to lose, I will want to run with the ball and drive forward, attract defenders and draw then out of position,' he said.

'I don't know whether I will end up there, that's for Arsene Wenger to decide, but it's definitely something I'm excited about the prospect of doing.

'I've always been a midfielder and have only recently gone out to the wing, but wherever I play on the pitch I've just got to make sure I give the best performance I can.'

“Given the opportunity, I do enjoy playing in central midfield and last week in training with England I was playing more centrally,” he told Standard Sport. “I really enjoyed that.

“At the moment, the general dynamic at Arsenal is that we have got a lot of central midfielders who are more specialists in that position and out of that group of players, if you were going to put me in there, I’d be the one who stood out as someone who could play on the wing.

“I see myself more as a winger for Arsenal as a result. Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Francis Coquelin, Granit Xhaka, who has just come in, Jack Wilshere, when he’s back, Mohamed Elneny and Aaron Ramsey, when he’s fit. They are all big players for us and out-and-out central midfielders, so I am more focused on playing wide and adding what I can out there for now.”

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is a player with a lot of uncertainty around him. It’s unclear whether he will remain at Arsenal as well as what his preferred position is.

Now, the 23-year-old has shed some light onto the latter discussion in an interview with the club’s website.

“Definitely central midfield,” Oxlade-Chamberlain revealed to Arsenal Player.

“Then right or left, I don’t really mind.

"Playing for a team like Arsenal, it ends up being more of a right-wing job," Oxlade-Chamberain told BT Sport of his position.

"I get the ball from deeper and the plays into my hands more.

"At the end of the day, it’s given me minutes and I'm not one to complain.

"But, the centre-mid role... I’ve always wanted to be Steven Gerrard, so I’ve still got a hope of that!"

He seems pretty keen on it with the number of times it has been brought up in interviews.

Hahaha

So in the month we've had Matic his value has gone up! So much for the re-sell brigade

Has 6 caps for Paraguay. Only briefly represented Argentina youth teams.
He might play for Paraguay but was born in Argentina. He's an Argie that plays for Paraguay as far as I'm concerned.:D

Seriously ?

Wouldn't be entirely unbelievable. The board is an elected one and they badly need a PR win at the moment. Also, despite the 220m they got it seems Barcelona are looking for cheap options at the moment. So this one might tick all the boxes.

I'm not surprised by the news as RAC1 is supposed to be reliable for Barca news. I'm surprised by how Barca is currently being run by this board.

Over the two legs Seri has looked ordinary. Like an ill or unfit Wijnaldum. Hope Barca sign him.

Yeah I watched him a few times last season and he looked good but not as good as some people were hyping him up to be. But those were only 3 or 4 games so I'm guessing I didn't see him at his best. Very poor over the two legs against Napoli though, did not look like he would be a gamechanger for Barca at all, could just be some off games though.

Might as well sell and just bid higher on VVD and Keita. Obviously they were going to lose Coutinho anyway. Sell for 138m and those two would probably cost 150m after all they bid what 72m and 60m anyway?

Did anyone think going into this summer that it was even fathomable for a club to resist 138M anything for a player of Coutinho's caliber? (He's good, but not transcendent)

Probably still 80M guaranteed and possible 60M in add-ons, if Coutinho wins the Ballon d´Or, Brazil wins the World Cup and Barcelona wins the Premier League all in an odd year.

The Goretzka news is the first piece of transfer news that makes sense. Young, position of need, can probably be had for €50-60M, and you prevent him going to Bayern for free.

Bloody hell Barcelona, £138m for Coutinho is just ridiculous. I understand Liverpool not selling since they likely couldn't replace him now (though maybe they could, if Draxler's available he would be a good replacement) but how can Barcelona justify spending that on Coutinho? He'll never be capable of justifying that fee.

That's probably because they play with him in Fifa and his physical attributes are all in the 80s.
