Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Imagine Woodward reacted to a player suggestion from the Caf.
Joey Barton was considered a viable option at one stage

Imagine hacking Barcas twitter and not announcing they'd signed Ronaldo. Oppertunity wasted.

Probably still 80M guaranteed and possible 60M in add-ons, if Coutinho wins the Ballon d´Or, Brazil wins the World Cup and Barcelona wins the Premier League all in an odd year.

The Goretzka news is the first piece of transfer news that makes sense. Young, position of need, can probably be had for €50-60M, and you prevent him going to Bayern for free.
Apparently it's £101 million with the rest in add-ons, but that £101 million would probably be in yearly payments or something.

Is that not illegal without permission? They were hardly being paid to test their security as they asked Barca to get in contact with them.

Why sign a 6 year deal? Utterly brainless decision by Alli/ his agent and probably music to the ears of Levy when he signed it. Good luck with following your ambitions/ moving to a bigger club in the next 2-3 years.
TBF, his initial wage was dirt cheap, as he was bought not as first team player. Must have been too excited with the raise and not actually think thing through. His previous agent sucks though for signing that long extension with such low improved wage.

I don't know what's worse, honestly!

Barca are dumb for offering that much, but Liverpool to reject it?

I can't wrap my head around two clubs willing to make or reject bids over £60m for Coutinho. Before the Neymar deal the numbers being thrown around would have shattered the world record. Coutinho is a very good player but he's not that good.

If Barca has any sense they'd wait, don't spend it now. Save 220mil and rebuild over next year or 2. They could sign Coutinho or Dembele or both and still not be close to Real.

Technically, it's 100% illegal but if they get the account back, don't have to pay that big a bribe, they'll probably just forget about it and fire some PR team to limit the embarrassment.

Did anyone think going into this summer that it was even fathomable for a club to resist 138M anything for a player of Coutinho's caliber? (He's good, but not transcendent)

Liverpool will surely regret this in the long term. They will have an unhappy, unsettled player and Barca (or anyone) will surely not come knocking again with anywhere near this amount of money. I think in those situations, as hard as they are, you just have to let the player go, get as much as you possibly can for them and use the money to restructure.

Is Wenger just going to gut their squad and then leave? Lol if they lose Sanchez and Ozil with no fees, a board that refuses to spend big, and a manager of several years ready to retire. If all of that happens, they'll crash a lot harder than we did when we hired Moyes.

Why would they sell? They are moving to 3 at the back and have sold Gabriel. They need defenders.

Why haven't Arsenal been linked with VVD? He'd immediately improve them and they'd get a semblance of leadership in that team. I'd say they need him more than Chelsea and Arsenal are probably a better prospect to win things than Liverpool.

He wants to bring in another CB but needs to make squad smaller first. He's been playing Monreal and Kolasinac in the back three as well.

Current CB options: Koscielny (injured), Mertesacker (retiring), Mustafi, Monreal, Kolasinac, Holding
Surplus to requirements: Chambers

7 CBs in the first team would be a bit too much, so can see both Chambers and Mustafi going if Arsenal are guaranteed to bring someone else in then next summer when Mertesacker has retired, another CB will be bought.

£138m for Coutiniho

I'm sorry but he just isn't that special. How Barca can be willing to pay that and how Liverpool can be willing to reject it is just insane...
