You're right, it does sound weird. The guy scored against Rio, Vidic and Van der Sar... scientists analyzed Messi and said his decision and dribble skill is one of the fastest among all the players due to his low center of gravity. Put simply, Messi will decelerate, anticipate and accelerate with the ball in a speed that no one else in the world will catch up. Do you really think this guy will struggle in the EPL that much? Sure, some players will try to break his legs. But he will anticipate it. His motion is at another level, at least, scientifically speaking.
Can you share a link regarding what the scientist's said about Messi? Would like to read, thanks.

I'm sure some players would just go out with the aim to break his legs, even at the cost of the red. Would have expect some sort of Karate kick from Shelvy.

No... i don't, hence "i think he will be unbelievable". You even quoted it mate.

But i maintain that players are more protected in the CL than in the prem, so its not always the best way to judge how well a player will do. Actually, it doesn't sound weird at all. Makes perfect sense.

Like i've already said though, i think messi would be class in the prem.

Not sure if the source is reliable but it says Andreas Pereira is close to a loan move to Valencia.

After a promising pre-season, I would really like Andreas to stay with us this season. However, if a loan move is what his near future holds, surely he would be better getting some Premier League experience?

I would think our 4th signing will have to happen if we ship another out on loan.

I think with Mourinho opting for playing 2 midfielders so far in games, and with Fellaini, Herrera and Carrick ahead in the pecking order on the bench it is unlikely Pereira will get much game time here this season. Though it is disappointing, I can see the thinking behind it if he does get game time at Valencia (they're signing Kondogbia from Inter). Next season, Fellaini and Carrick are likely to be gone and his route into the team a lot more obvious unless we sign a few more midfielders.

Agree with the disappointment, but still Valencia should be an interesting move for him. But mostly disappointing that he's going.

You would hope AP would be on the bench and get some minutes. Considering lindelof has made the bench once in two matches its not a disaster for him. Would be a shame to see him loaded out.

Would he get enough game time if he stayed?

We have a lot of games this season, if he's leaving then we're definitely signing someone else we'd be extremely light otherwise. Also, if he's to be loaned it should be to a PL club, he's done the Spain thing. Can't see how that helps his development. I say just play him, hope he shows Alli like improvement. That's the only way to gain star players.

Messi would drive PL defenses mad until some desperate manager from some low table team orders an execution tackle & good riddance.

You rang?

Disappointing for fans of his but moving from a starter for relegation fodder of La Liga to a start at a midtable level club is good for his development.

Probably makes sense given that he's likely not going to get a lot of game time, but I'd much rather he went to a PL club at this stage.

We'd be crazy to loan him out without getting a new contract sorted first!

His contract expires next summer.

Yeah, didn't know that before you mentioned it. Cheers.

It's a shame. He's never hidden his desire to make it at United and this season felt like the right time to slowly integrate him into the first team.

Well he's only got a year left on contract so if we don't do a Chelsea (new 4-6 year contract before loaning out), he'll leave on a free.

No idea why he'd sign a contract if he's going to be sent back out again, how old is he now?

If Mourinho feels like he could be valuable player in the future, but is not ready as of now, like what Chelsea do, we should get him signed onto a new contract and then loan him out.

I think I read somewhere he's not interested in doing that. That he'd sign a contract only if he were to be with the team, but not if he's gonna be farmed out on loans.

Personally, I don't see him getting many games this season. He's like 6th in line for a CM spot and we play with 2 of them most games. Herrera and Fellaini seem comfortably ahead of him in Mou's reckoning. Maybe if Carrick had not renewed he would have been in a better position to play more games.

Realistically the 4 first CMs will get loads of playing time and the others will get crumbs. That's how it typically is.

€40 mill for Di Maria?
I'd take him back easily.

He could get more chances to play in a more advanced role. It's not like we have a vast array of options for the #10 role.

I don't think he'd be unhappy with playing a relatively limited role this season as long as he gets some playing time in the domestic cups.

He's versatile enough to make a contribution and training with the first team for a whole season could be invaluable for his development.

It all depends on Jose's opinion, though.

I reckon I've got as much chance of playing for United as Di Maria has. We wouldnt do business with that cnut again.

We do have a pretty vast array of options for the #10 role. Mkhi, Mata and Lingard are all CAMs by nature. How many more do you need?

He could get some games on the wings or here and there but would that be enough for him to feel he has a future so he renews his contract? I mean if Ibra signs a new contract as being talked about, we'll have as many attackers as last year and we have 2 more CMs. I really don't see him getting more than 10 games under his belt with that much competition for places.

If he doesn't like being a loanee maybe selling him with a buy back clause is not such a bad idea.

I'd like to see Pereira stick around but Mourinho may feel conflicted towards showing loyalty to Carrick and Fellaini. Two senior players who train well and do what's told of them without complaint. Same with Young too.

Whereas an upcoming player will get annoyed sitting in the stands so going away to play week in week out is best. Next summer when those old heads go he has a clear pathway.
