Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Isn't the reason we're after a winger who can cross in the first place because we don't have a reliable option at lb? Haven't seen anything to suggest we're after a lb. All Jose's comments have suggested we're after a winger or 'wide man'. Perisic isn't a lb and clearly we were after him. Ironically we've been linked to rbs like Aurier but not to any lbs. You'd think there'd be links to players like Ryan Sessegnon or Tierney if we were chasing a lb. Sounds to me like we're content with having a more defensive lb but need a winger who provides width to make up for that.

Maybe Lemar would suit Jose but even his height and lack of physicality immediately stand out as potential issues for Jose. I agree that he's better than Perisic though and his crossing is definitely at least comparable to Perisic (even if he attempts less of them).
I agree with pretty much everything you said. We should be in for a full back. Although Blind actually went forward more than Valencia at the weekend looking at the average positions from the game.

Lemar is a quality player though. I think Perisic would of been playing left wing back if we actually bought him. And I guess he wanted him because he could play wing back and further forward I suppose.

Very hopeful that Sanchez will be a fantastic signing for us - he is very quick and should slot in well in a back 3. With Toby, Jan and now Sanchez we will have a very strong back 3, possibly one of the strongest in Europe imo.

Looked good tbh and I thought he wouldn't be there long....that said, the transition to the prem from the Dutch league has generally proven to be poor of late.

Wheres he supposed to play in Spurs set-up though?

Gives them a good option to play 3 at the back. Which they might resort to in Wembley given their previous set up sucked balls on that ground.

You've got Dembele and Wanyama as starters there.

We do but it gives us greater squad depth which is what we are lacking. I gotta say I'm genuinely very excited about this signing and I think it makes a lot of sense in the development of our squad.

Yep. It will be interesting to see who wins out in the battle for the first choice DM slot between Dier and Wanyama. There hasn't really been a contest thus far, because Dier has mostly started in the back 3 since Wanyama arrived.

Don't understand why you'd switch formations when you did so well in the 4-2-3-1 last season. Really bizarre. I get that having extra width might help at Wembley but it still seems unwise to change from a working formation.

We have played 3 at the back a lot, it's not a switch in formation rather just a confirmation that is the way we intend to play.

Great buy from Spurs, Sanchez played well against us in the Europa final. Quick, strong and a hard tackler, his passing isn't the best but not all defenders have the qualities like Rio had.

Young and talented defender with a lot of potential, really like the kid however we have players like TFM and Tuanzbe who are very similar.

40 million, from the Dutch League, for a defender?

Wowzers.

A line has been crossed.

Why do people care about the cost of players? I really don't understand this need for 'value'. If you want a player, and you have the money and are happy to pay it, you sign him it really is as simple as that.

Arsenal getting Draxler would be gutting. Like when they got Overmars (always loved him before that) or when Chelsea got Robben.

How does he expect to sign with Atletico with the transfer ban?

This again? Think you need to catch up on this!
Catch me up as I have no idea what you're talking about. I know how they did it with Vitolo but is he willing to be loaned or sit out half the season
Also is he really sure that Atletico wants him? They dont really need him.

If he is willing to sit in Brazil for a year doing nothing then I am sure he will wait on Atletico for 6 months. They can sign him just can't register him.

Has the mirror posted an article about Woodward meeting Perisic's agent in the last few days?
