LemON? I'm all for it just to wind up the arsenal supporters. Although it's probably nonsense, as 60M Euros price tag would have just landed us Perisic, makes no sense.

See Lukaku v Morata. It could be that we thought we'd get Perisic for £30m as he's that level of player, but have then decided that if we're being forced to pay that much (circa £50m) we might aswell go for the player we think actually worth that money. Also, Lemar is only 21, a solid 7 years younger. Probably lower wages too.

We'll see. As others have said full backs are a more pressing concern. Not sure what Lemar has that Tony Marshall and Rashford don't? I mean, I thought Mou was in the market for an extremely experienced winger.

Hope the Lemar rumour is true. Though I do think we need a full back over a winger.

I agree, a proper LB would transform our left wing. We havent had anyone overlapping and crossing from the left in ages.
All our crossing seems to come from Valencia and he is about quantity not quality in that department.

Would love to see Lemar here, but what the feck is wrong with our coaches eyesight? We don't have anyone on the right side creating anything worth of note unless Valencia is attacking on that side.

My thoughts also. I presume that jose thinks that lingard, mata and mikhi are good enough.

Mkhitaryan's best position is as a #10 in the Premier league. Lingard and Mata are too busy clogging up the strikers position to be of any use on the right.

Another flop that never gets mentioned

Not true. Wimmer was signed for just £5.4m to provide CB cover, and has done generally well for Spurs when called on in to fill in, especially the season before last when Vertonghen was out for a long period.

And now it seems we're about to sell him for around a 200% profit.

I don't really buy the Lemar links. Does he track back enough to be a Jose winger? I feel like if Jose thought he could provide that work rate he'd have been a very obvious option ahead of Perisic. I'd love to get Lemar but it seems random. No good sources reporting on it yet either. You'd expect some reputable French sources would have mentioned it if there was any truth. Tbh I'm happy enough to go to Jan with the current squad unless a player like Bale suddenly becomes available.

How is Wimmer a flop? Spurs paid £4.3m for him as a basically a youngster to develop, and he's played very well when he's had to step in for Vertonghen as the left sided CB. In 2015/2016 he made 9 league starts and Spurs conceded a total of 2 goals in those matches. Last year Vertonghen stayed mostly healthy and Wimmer had a lot fewer opportunities (Poch doesn't like to play 2 left footed CB's at the same time, so Dier stepped in for Alderweireld when he was injured).

He's good enough now that he wants to play every week (and he needs it to cement his place in the Austria side) and if Spurs can get a £10m+ profit off of him, that probably works best for both parties and Spurs will wish him well and go find another cheap, young left footed center half to replace him and hopefully repeat the cycle.

He's definitely a Jose type winger. But I'll be shocked if we go for him.

He didn't play their match last week either after being injured in the first match. He was on the bench that time, but still might not be recovered
Didn't his manger say he was on the bench as per request of the owners/board?

He tracks back and he's a brilliant crosser Of the ball. He's also better than Perisic. Because he will be expensive and we need a full back.

Isn't the reason we're after a winger who can cross in the first place because we don't have a reliable option at lb? Haven't seen anything to suggest we're after a lb. All Jose's comments have suggested we're after a winger or 'wide man'. Perisic isn't a lb and clearly we were after him. Ironically we've been linked to rbs like Aurier but not to any lbs. You'd think there'd be links to players like Ryan Sessegnon or Tierney if we were chasing a lb. Sounds to me like we're content with having a more defensive lb but need a winger who provides width to make up for that.

Maybe Lemar would suit Jose but even his height and lack of physicality immediately stand out as potential issues for Jose. I agree that he's better than Perisic though and his crossing is definitely at least comparable to Perisic (even if he attempts less of them).

Jose has relied on midget pacey and trickster wingers who dont track back in the past as well. Not all of his players he's bought or played over the years have been defensive giants tracking back. Just saying.
