Spurs do "scare" (too strong of a word perhaps but can't think at the moment) me at the moment. If they go about their business correctly, they'll be a big threat.
Ignore Jason Burt. He was adamant that Mourinho wasn't lined up as our manager when everyone else was saying otherwise.

He is a click bait merchant.

Who are they realistically going to sign that will be an upgrade on what they already have? Levy offers peanuts and gets laughed at.

I suppose they might bring in some average players to strengthen the squad. Hardly anything to be concerned about.

They're gonna need Barkley and Davinson Sanchez for their champions league venture as they don't have the squad depth currently for a shot at both league and CL.

Glaston incoming...
I am not trying to wind anyone up. They have a very good first eleven, strong in pretty much every position. If you want to upgrade one, or more of those players, you are looking at ludicrous prices. Prices Levy wouldn't even consider paying. Not to mention the wage structure.

Levy will no doubt wait until the final day of the transfer window and offer £20 million for Barkley, with £5 million up front and the rest in installments.

If you're a Man Utd fan and getting anywhere near scared by Spurs, I wonder what you think of the likes of City and the European giants!

Inter offering him €5m a yr according to GDS. Think we'd offer him more than that.
Inter to offer him €5M a year after tax according to GDS. That's £200k a week. Doubt you'd offer him more

I very much doubt they'd give him that much. The Inter fans on their forums are doubting that too.

Great one Burt. As if they'd specifically plan to leave something that late.
They do; Levy likes to leave it to the last minute and chip the price down. It's another way he puts proving himself as the "master negotiator" over the needs of his manager.

That's slightly less than what they're paying icardi. I also don't think they're actually going that far, but i'm pretty sure they'll be signing him to a £150k a week contract. Iirc, united's offer was £100k a week? He's already on close to that(should be around £80-90k a week)

We could give him £150k easily, also UCL football.

What is it that you think Pochettino needs that he won't getting before the window closes?

A happy squad of players not looking enviously at the wage packets of others;

To do the bloody deal with Barkley to get him integrated.

So you think Spurs have an unhappy squad? And you think that Barkley won't be signed and that Pochettino needs him?

Dier and Rose aren't particularly happy for a start.

Of course Barkley will be signed, thats why I'm saying Levy should just get on with it instead of fannying around to get the price dropped by another 50p.

Anyway, no point discussing with you, you're about as biased and myopic as any fan comes.

Neville has called him out on twitter tonight. Told him he was talking bullshit for saying Conte wanted rid of Matic. Burt hasn't taken too kindly to it!

Whilst I don't normally agree with Spurs and Levy's approach, handling Barkley like this is pretty sensible tbh.

As you mentioned, he is a squad player to help with champions league etc, they didn't need him to be brought in quickly to get a pre-season as he will have plenty of time to work with the squad before he is needed. Everton are in a shite situation at the moment, they have made it public nobody has come in for Barkley so Levy knows he will get him for dirt cheap on deadline day. It's a risky game as there a chance someone else may come in for him in the meantime, but I think a lot of clubs would do the same to save several million pounds on a 'squad player'.

There's no evidence whatsoever that Dier is unhappy. When last seen he was on the plane back from Newcastle, busy on social media taking the mickey out of Walker-Peters for photographing his MoTM award. Rose I'll grant you, but he'll get over it. And he's one player in an entire squad.

The initial asking price for Barkley was £50m. If it drops to £25 - £30m, that's a saving of rather more than 50p. And besides, he's currently injured and so wouldn't even be able to take part in training sessions.

Just my opinion, but I do think you could do with a CB, maybe trading out Wimmer, and a winger or striker. And it would definitely be worth a tilt at Aurier if you could afford it, maybe on loan even. Wages could be a problem there. If you get the right ones in I think you could even be favourites for the title.

Looks like you will sign Davinson Sanchez as the CB, who is a bit raw I think but not a bad punt. The others could make a big difference. I am not so sure you are bothered about Barkley and maybe you shouldn't be.

How exactly will this succeed?

Imagine Real Madrid forced Liverpool to sell Coutinho to them this time next year. The window just means you can't transfer domestically. There is nothing to suggest UEFA will change the deadline for all nations. Players could still move abroad and they would then need replacing.

In general, transfer fees and wages tend to go hand in hand. If you're unwilling to meet inter's price, you're probably also unwilling to give comparable wages to the player
