Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

They already had Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, and Leroy Sane on the bench last game. Assuming Alexis would join, that would push Gabriel Jesus down the pecking order too. How the hell can they fit all of these players into one team and keep them all happy?

We should put in a cheeky bid for Sane should it happen. We need a winger.

Seriously unprofessional, by both parties. Why is Neville rising to this nonsense?

We have him, they don't. Does it matter?

So long as we move forward as a team.

I agree it'd only work if every league's deadline is brought forward too, and perhaps the window officially opening a lot sooner. It simply wouldn't work otherwise and your second two points make sense.

However the first point there isn't a valid reason. Teams should be assessed during the previous season and during pre-season, and most good managers will know where they need to strengthen anyway. Injuries aren't any more common at the start of a season, teams would be equally fecked with the current system if players get injured after the window has shut, and they should probably prepare for that anyway.

Doesn't really matter though since that's not what's being proposed

Some have the Chelsea fans in the tweets have inflated the Matic fee to 50m

By the end of the season we will have paid 100m with any luck

Not sure why they are so salty they lost out on Lukaku and Matic. They did us over with Hazard. Accept it and move on.

Yeah the salt over those two is unparalleled, even by the standards of Premier League fan twitter. Any post about United is immediately bombarded by Chelsea fans

It's obvious to everyone Conte didn't want Matic. He simply said those comments because he doesn't want the blame when it backfires. (At least it seems obvious to me)

Mourinho just came out and said he took advantage of something going on internally at Chelsea, that Conte didn't want him out.

In any case, I love to see these itk jokesters get their bs inside scoops turned upside down. The whole 24/7 news shit is such a drag. Thank goodness the season's started

Would he really be that bad of an option? Upgrade over Lingard for me.
Problem is I doubt he is interested in just staying as squad option. I don't think we play wing back system much. Playing conventional winger system he's more natural than our wide players, but arguably he's there to compete for game time than actually mainstay. Ability is one thing, being happy with the role (squad player) is another thing.

Spain was better at the time, so he chose Spain.

Brazil (Scolari - their NT coach at the time) was pretty pissed with the choice.
That maybe a factor, but what I previous read that Brazil NT was not interested, seeing him earned no cap whatsoever until it's too late when Spain NT enquiring as they lack of no 9. It was then a no brainer to choose. Spain as it guaranteed him the position in the team as well as playing for a better team at that moment.

My point is that beside the talent drought period, Brazil NT prefers different type of forward than D.Costa. They doesn't exactly like target man. They more often than not doesn't employ aerial football that much. Their now forward is Jesus. Pretty different than D.Costa

"I was going to summon him for the World Cup," Scolari was quoted as saying by O Estado de Sao Paulo.

"Diego Costa would be with us. He could play as a seven, a nine, or even as an 11. I’d thought about playing him up front to run and smash through. He’s a powerful beast. He's strong as a bull.

"Was I wrong? I don't know, but he would be at the World Cup with Brazil. I talked to him twice about it.

"The problem is there were other interests behind it. With Diego Costa becoming a naturalised Spaniard, that opened up his options in Europe. There's a whole set of interests."

However, CBF president José María Marín is not giving up Costa without a fight, declaring legal action may prevent the player from making the switch.

“We’re going to fight as far as we consider is best for Brazil. The CBF does not consider the case to be closed,” he said.

I am curious how €5M a year after tax translates to £200k a week. Perhaps you can enlighten me. As far as I know, 1 € exchanges for about 0.91 £. Therefore, €5M a year translates to €5M x 0.91 /52 weeks = £87,500 per week after tax. Assuming a 50% tax rate, his before tax salary would be something like £131,250 per week. Surely that is a far cry from £200,000 per week? Maybe there is something about the quote I don't understand, or perhaps the tax rate is way higher?
No, i just didn't check :D. Was going by intuition, remembered £100k a week=£5.2M a year, so £10M=(roughly)£200k. Then forgot to convert to euro

Btw, you're also wrong, €10M is £175k a week at the current exchange

Spurs can close the Davinson Sanchez deal tomorrow.

Think he could potentially be a great signing, very impressed whenever I have seen him. Rough around the edges but in terms of strength, pace, power and using that to get himself between the ball and opponent, see a bit of Jaap Stam in him.

Not sure it's obvious.

If so it's absolutely bizarre and extremely naive for Conte to ditch his best centre forward and most consistent CM before the sessions begins. Considering both replacements are downgrades and he's supposed to be building a squad for European competition.

I think what is obvious is there's massive issues going on at Chelsea. Costa, Matic, Azpilcueta interview, Conte being given a pay rise with no extra contract length..

If a player earns £87,500 after tax, the pretax pay, assuming a 50% tax rate, is £175,000 not £131,250. The tax is half of the total, then deducted to leave the after tax amount, not half of the after tax amount added on.

So £175,000 a week pay, with 50% tax, is £87,500 in tax, and £87,500 pay.

Still not quite £200,000 but much closer

That's some really interesting maths you've got there.

A quick google search shows the max tax rate in Italy is 43%.. so that would be about 150k pre tax

Afraid I cannot post any links or twitter posts quite yet. But thought its worth mentioning that Milan is on the ball again.

It is said that Villarreal are offering a loan with a €17-18m obligation to buy next summer.

According to Milannews.it, Sky Italia (Di Marzio) and Alfredo Pedullà, the deal seems like just a matter of time. He did not train with the team yesterday and have cleaned out his locker.

His exit makes room for a new striker. It has been rumoured Auba etc but it looks to be Kalinic, 29y from Fiorentina. A bit of a let down I have to say. Montella loves him tho, so we'll see. Talks in Italy that it might be both Kalinic and Dolberg of Ajax even.

To be honest I think reports that we were in for him were probably bs. While undoubtedly he's a world class fullback Jose has repeatedly said the the atmosphere and togetherness of the group is extremely high. Signing Aurier would be a huge risk of upsetting that balance, not only because of his previous attitude issues and issues with Ibra but also because it would mean displacing Valencia who was our captain on Sunday and by all accounts is one of our leaders on the pitch.

Paris United were the only ones reporting and Jose has also said many times he wants one more player to play on the wings and that almost certainly would be a left sided player
