Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Rumors are rumors and actual transfers are actual transfers. There are many talks in the media, but when the transfers are done, hypothesis become facts. Pogba's transfer was not that surprising for me. A great player, one of the best midfielders in the world, a player who has played at a great level for a lot of time. And his transfer figure is close to transfers figures from the past, at around 100m. The 100m. mark has been the mark of great transfers. Until PSG came and double it and then some.

Zidane wasn't that attacking, as you very well say. He was a midfielder as well. If Iniesta would've moved, he would've cost around 100m. as well. He wasn't a forward either.

There is a big difference between the Pogba and Neymar transfers. Pogba's is in line with the normal state of the market. Neymar is a new era of football transfers in comparison. The deal involving this player for PSG is more than 500m. according to the media. Pogba isn't even on the same planet imo. This is more than double the previous trasnfer record. Can't really be compared.

They're both very big jumps. As I've pointed out, no point in comparing Pogba to Bale and Ronaldo because they're such different players. Better to compare Pogba to Zidane. Pogba's £89m was an increase of roughly £43m on the biggest transfer fee paid for a similar type of player (Zidane). Neymar's £193m was an increase of £108m on the biggest transfer fee paid on a similar type of player (Bale) and an increase of £113m on Ronaldo. Though Neymar represents a bigger pure gap Pogba's is still huge, especially comparable to the actual money involved in the previous record deals. £108m seems more in line with what you could expect to pay for a great attacker now (Griezmann for example) than for a cm with possible exceptions like Thiago, Modric, or Kroos if they happened to become available for some strange reason. While you may have to pay slightly more than £43m for a great cm now, Kante did move to Chelsea last season for a similar amount of £38m. You can argue he's too defensive I suppose, but even when Barcelona were interested in Verratti the fees being suggested were £60m for one of the best cms in the world and this is after Pogba was sold for £89m. The main question is if you could genuinely see a team paying £89m for a cm before Pogba signed. I think the max I could have seen a normal cm go for was around £55m-60m regardless of how good they were, including a Kroos if he suddenly wanted to leave and Real were willing to allow it. So I don't see Pogba as being in line with the market because the market should be pure cms as opposed to just any position. Ultimately people will always look towards goal and assist numbers when a big fee is involved which is a major reason why Pogba got so much hate from the media. It's not fair but it's the way it is. Maybe you disagree.

Also, while Iniesta was never in a position where he could have been sold, I find it very hard to believe he would have been sold for more than Ronaldo if he wanted to leave. £60m max I'd say and that is even being generous. More likely £50m. Ozil was only sold for £42.5m remember and he was considered one of the best cams in the world at that stage. If a prime Iniesta was to be sold now, of course it would probably be over £100m.

Anyone got 50mins to spare?

No, but I briefly skipped through and it basically says that a fullback has been on the transfer list drafted by Jose since last year and that he considers fullback a huge weakness in the squad as he had to experiment with serval different players at LB last season, and he needs a good attacking fullback to get up and down the entire left wing so he can deploy 3 at the back more often throughout the season. 3 at the back won't be our default system but be would like to use it occassionally.

These lot come up with some "confirmed" transfers every other day it feels like. How many have they actually got right?

I looked at their feed and they don't have a single breaking news, they tend to add informations when the main rumor is reported somewhere else. For example in the case of Neymar, Marcelo Bechler announces that Neymar accepted PSG's offer and three hours later PSG united confirms that PSG are negotiating with Neymar, they were selling Coutinho and Alexis Sanchez to PSG before that.

Bunch a fecking trolls... Just faking credibility with sure thing reporting, after the fact.

Then start on us, with a name like parisunited we should of really guessed.

Who would that be?

I'm surprised a big club hasn't snatch Pulisic up. He is a real talent and will probably bring a top fee for Dortmund if sold. If they can keep him this season and he has a good showing at the WC, I can see him moving to a top European team. I'd love it United took a punt on him.

United.

PSG offer €155m for Mbappe but Monaco want €200m plus

Like the poster above said, football just died.

Partially because PSG can go ahead and spend these sums on players in one summer without a single thought about FFP, secondly because of the valuation Monaco puts on Mbappe.

I can actually stomach (sort of) €220m for Neymar as he had a release clause, he's probably the 3rd best player in the world, he's proven himself over 4/5 years, he's the face of Brazil with insane marketability etc.
But €200m for Mbappe after 1 good season is absolutely insane!

You shouldn't be allowed to sign a kid for that sort of money, it's utterly mental. The lad all things considered has done absolutely nothing in the game.
Nothing? He's been directly involved in winning a top 5 league. That's far more than most players come close to achieving.

Top clubs have always spent massive amounts of money on top talent. PSG are no different.

Monaco will charge what they know PSG are willing to pay.

Football is dead......and will never recover by the looks of transfer fees for players these days.

One good season can make a player worth 200 million? Just madness :eek::eek:
I don't know. Looks like someone will snag a bargain with Sanchez next summer.

That's not entirely true, he's football's best young player. And PSG would basically be buying the league title back off Monaco so would have to pay the tax for that.

That's free market. Ultimately, he is worth what PSG, in this case, pays for him.

They shouldn't be forbidden, but if there's a FFP ruling, they should seriously take a hard look at it.

It's amazing that a team that already has lots of players earning top money and not being one of the highest earners in football, can still break the world record twice in the same window while paying the worlds highest salaries, and be all good.

Ivan Perisic saga is my most annoying saga after Sneijder, can't wait till the window closes just so I don't have to hear his name again. I hope Mourinho comes out and tells everyone the business is done as I think it is. Frustrating that we aren't linked with any good attacking players since we got Lukaku.

Got to give it to PSG they remind me of what I thought Ed Woodward was going to do when he said "We can do things in the transfer market that other clubs can only dream of. Watch this space."
