Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

So theres two camps when it comes to Aurier. The French ITKs and journos are saying Aurier/PSG negotiating with us whilst Di Marzio and his puppy Amoyal are saying his agent is meeting with Inter complete with photo of said meeting.

French journos say that he is negotiating with italian and english teams.

Isn't Aurier's agent Courbis and not Barat? I've never heard Barat being connected to Aurier before the Di Marzio article.

Or maybe his agent is spreading the rumors about us to drive the price up before the Inter move

Some MUFC fans will read this as, "Bale issues come and get me plea to Manchester United!"
And their conclusion: Bale will be joining us this Summer.

Unfortunately some fans also believe that Griezmann will be joining us in the next few months.
Some also believe absolutely, that Ronaldo will at some point be joining us.
And lets not forget Gaitan, Nainggolan and several others.

I'm not sure why you are laughing. Until just a while ago it looked like Mbappe would move to Real and the consequences of that would mean Bale have to make way(in Real's 1st 11 atleast). There was a chance that even Mourinho talked about it. Of course now we know that ain't happening with Bale declaring he wants to stay. Funnily enough today we got the rumours of Mbappe agreeing to join PSG.

As for Griezmann it could still happen come next window or the summer. No reason for him to sign that contract and increase his buy out clause to 200m only for the clause to decrease back to his original value this January.

There are literally no quotes at all from Mourinho about wanting a left back in that piece.

Given the fact Rose said what he said plus Uniteds shitness on the left, it's pretty much a given he'd be linked. Lazy.

Castles wouldn't usually communicate something that Mourinho hasn't actually implied though, would he? He's usually spot on when it comes to Jose and what he wants releasing in to the media.

@Damien, does this mean the end of Luke Shaw? I thought Mourinho had been impressed with his attitude and training since his return from yet another injury?

Probably more the end of relying on Darmian to be our starting LB. Blind might get more play if Darmian continues to be toothless on the offensive end. But it's obvious another option is needed, whether or not Shaw impresses.

Mourinho hasn't really been all that keen on him. I'm doubtful about the article though as if we were after a leftback we would have looked at getting one much earlier. Castles' reliability with regards to Mourinho is overstated anyway IMO.

Mourinho prioritizes a new left back 20 days before the window slams shut?

Should have been one of the first positions through the door, along with a winger which we are also no closer to getting.

At the risk of sounding like a spoilt child considering the Lukaku and Matic signings, this window has been a bit of a mess, full of drawn out sagas that come to nothing and missed opportunities.

You're being too harsh on yourself with 'spoilt child'.

It has been a difficult window from the get-go with Griezman and the transfer ban. As a fan, the anticipation had built up with the watch commercial and all that. So getting the last minute u-turn was a rough one. Everything from there was only going to be a struggle.

We don't know the details of behind the scenes negotiations but it does feel like every club has taken lessons from Levy about digging in. Still we got last year's champions excellent midfielder and hot commodity forward beating a rival. It took a while but they panned out.

Just need to keep patient and remember the manager and team cohesiveness is more important than having the perfect personnel on paper. Sir Alex won many a league with a squad like ours now that isn't quite fully /ideally assembled. I think Jose can do something similar. He has already taken a rather fragile squad and made them anything but pushovers.

I hope you're right. We're in desperate need of an LB.

I think he thought we'd get Perisic but now that deal seems dead he's targetting a left back (probably has one in mind) rather than another winger. Makes sense if we want to play the 352, perhaps Jose has been impressed with it in pre-season and is willing to put all his eggs in that basket now

Very true!

Yeah, good point. It's really strange considering United beat Mourinho's Chelsea to Shaw and made Jose come out with all those bitter statements about the transfer and price etc. Those comments look even more strange now considering he's United manager and the price being paid for players in todays market.

If Mourinho wants a decent left back option then he should look towards Santos's Neto Zeca. 23 years old and played in the Brazil squad and a huge prospect, just returned from injury so could be available at a reasonable price.
