Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

It's possible but people have been saying this for years and it's the same story every season, they bottle it every time. Last season was an absolute joke for example. I don't believe their league is strong enough to properly prepare them for CL glory, you need to be tested so you're at your sharpest. The reason the Spanish clubs dominate is because although the league isn't as strong top to bottom as the PL, all the teams are superb technically and are set up well tactically that Barca, Real, A. Madrid etc are more prepared for the CL challenge.

I get you but the French league is getting better. There is more money and it is attracting players like Neymar, Cavani, Verreta etc. Last year, Monaco was in the semi final of the Champions League and PSG was one good referee away from the same stage.

We need to be all over this. Desperately need a match winner / x Factor kind of player.
Agreed. It's time to stop holding onto sentiment with players that have shown a few world class moments and replace them with players that are world class all the time. We've got too many "potential" type players in our attack.

The English clubs, including us seem to lack the sense to chase these kind of signings. The only ones that have been made are Aguero and Hazard, not a surprise that they have been the best two players in the league over the last 5 years. Wish we'd learn. People may say that he'd choose Barcelona over us which might well be true but I'd be much happier seeing us at least in the race for him.

Very good point but I'm wondering if the English clubs have done so badly in this regard recently.

I don't mind Zlatan as a 'Plan B' but I was getting used to us playing with pace up front now he and Rooney have gone.

Me to I don't want Zlatan to lead from the top anymore now we have signed Lukaku and I doubt a Lukaku-Zlatan partnership upfront would work.

F**K thats a good signing for £25 million. he would instantly walk into the united team on the right wing, shame Wenger would never sell to Jose.

Would be all over that. £70 million for him and sanchez please. Or £75 million and lingard... :nervous:

Why would Chelsea want a player who has proven over a long period of time that he isn't good enough for Arsenal?

Ox's super agent up to his old tricks again, I suspect.

Good, we need him.

We should not rely on a soon to be 36 year old striker returning from a career threatening injury who will be on massive wages being our backup striker. We could do with a pay-as-you-play contract, but he should be a bonus rather than a need. If we need anymore strikers we should go out and find one who we can depend and rely upon throughout the season. Best case scenario is that Zlatan will be back in full power at the start of the 2018, but it is likely that he will need most of the 17/18 season just to find some kind of form.

He'd be an upgrade on Moses.

Can play RWB, LWB (as in CS), CM and any of the three roles behind the striker.

I think he's a good player, but his fitness issues are the main concern.

I didn't watch a lot of Chelsea last season but wasn't Moses getting great reviews for his performances? The Ox has been wallowing in mediocrity for years.

Don't get me wrong, £18.5m for a player who scored 9 goals last year, is in his last year of his contract and appears to be an absolute knobhead is good business, but are Burnely going to get anybody decent in with that money?

It's not inconceivable he could have hit double figures this year, which would be invaluable to a team who don't look like they have any goals in them. Sam Vokes, Jon Walters and Ashley Barnes are being relied on at present to score enough to keep Burnley up. :wenger:

Gray and Deeney up top. Will be a wild Watford Xmas party I imagine .

The market has gone well and truly crazy, but when you put it like that it doesn't sound like good business in the slightest.

Just heard from a guy with connections at some london hotels that Barkley is staying at the hotel that players about to sign for Spurs usually do, and Cancelo at one that Chelsea do. Not exactly news I know as they're both strongly linked but seems imminent anyway. Barkley seems a bit of a gamble to me. Cancelo an interesting buy for Chelsea's system.

The fee is £11.5m as per Skysports.

Nice sell on for Brentford too :)

This could keep Watford up and send Burnley down.

I would go for Barkley if the fee turns out to be 25 million.

I would too, he is still a good age and has the talent. Needs a fresh start and we could do with more quality players for sure. I dont care how much of an effort Lingard, Fellaini, Young (when fit) and Carrick provide, we need better to challenge in our own league never mind CL. I still pray we get someone else in.

If he goes to Spurs their midfield options will be very good with Ali, Barkley, Eriksen, Dembele, Wanyama, Dier etc

Not much of a story in that unfortunately, might go for Perisic, might go for Rose but if we do then perhaps next summer. Just rehashing the Mourinho presser where he said he wants four rather than three.
