Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Everyone supports the team they play for, he used to be Arsenal I'm pretty sure!

No he was never an Arsenal fan - his entire family are Spurs fans and so is he. He did however get picked up by Arsenal as a youth player for a year before moving to Spurs.

52m...fecking hell.

It's at the point you may as well go all in and sign a truly world class left sided winger/forward i.e. Bale or Sanchez. I'm pretty sure 75-80m would land one of those two.

We're just spunking money on the same position over and over again, the team isn't getting better because we're replacing 60m players (Martial) with 55m players (Perisic). Same with Att mid spend 40m on Mata then spend 30 odd mil on Mkhitaryan it's a shambles.

So you're saying that unless we spend 80m on a player we won't improve?

One thing that bugs me about this story is why would Griezmann sign a new contract with a higher buyout clause. Ball is in his court since he is their best player and they can't bring anyone in, why would he agree to make it harder for him to leave when the ban is lifted, he's clearly doing them a massive favour by staying.

I truly do wonder if the mail sports writers room just have a wall with something like 150-200 names and clubs and throw darts to see who they are writing about today.
More than likely the case with most of these papers/media outlets. It was Ryan Sessegnon yesterday today it's Bakayoko.

I think AG was just an option among other choices, Jose wouldn't be disappointed that he couldn't sign him.

The hell he was just an option among other choices. He must have cancelled the deal he had with us because of the CAS. United would never gamble on the CAS outcome. He should honour the deal and sign with us. If not, I hope we never sign the cnut.

So it's off according to you? Because someone said today that they know people from club and they said its still on.. its difficult to believe that tbh.

I don't think we'll pursue him now, Jose only wants players that want to play for United and Griezmann has flaked on us, that won't have impressed us. Next summer is World Cup summer so we won't have a lot of time to get deals done, targets will be drawn up soon I think and revised in January and I can't see us putting Griezmann near the top again.

We should probably take this in the Griezmann thread. After yesterdays events, it does not look like Griezmann will honour the deal with us. Its still a long way to go, but he would not be very popular with the Atletico fans if he joined us after that tweet.

I only discovered this place recently. I used to get my fix of the summer nonsense each day in the papers but this place is far more comprehensive and fun :D

We must be due a link with Neymar again shortly surely? Or is he happy with his wages at the moment?

Give it a couple of weeks

It's his way of saying, "Well, I tried!"

DING, DING DING, WE HAVE A WINNER.

I feel sorry for Gunners fans. This is a bluff, Wenger and the board have no intention of succeeding with this bid, it's so they can 'show the fans' they're trying to buy world-class players.

They'll end up spending £30m max all summer, Wenger will say he tried, the cycle continues!

Poor Arsene, just hope that his bid had more money up front or less clauses required to get full payment. Otherwise its the strangest bid ever and hard not to see it as just wanting to be in the mix with top players.

Does anyone remember the days when there was no such thing as twitter and the internet itself was in it's infancy? You still had a bit of gossip in the paper or on the radio, but it never reached the levels it does now and you knew it was all bullshit and just got on with life.

I hate how it's become now, I could only enjoy our Europa win for a few days before all this crap started. I'm constantly checking to see if anything has happened, every 5 minutes! I'm insane!

Bring on September 1st!

Daft thing is the bid from Arsenal is far more realistic for his experience and age. The money Monaco are asking for is insane. The world has gone mad.

That's bollocks to be honest. Pedro's agent was whoring him out to the Premier League and we were one of the teams offered, we took our time to have a look at the situation because up until then he wasn't one of the players we had scouted or prepared for and Chelsea jumped in two feet first and signed him up.

Nothing like the Griezmann situation where we'd obviously identified him months before hand and were prepared for it. Someone changed their mind on the move and I very much doubt it was Griezmann who just a week ago said he wanted to move for the chance to win trophies and now he wants to stay at a club that can't even strengthen their team until next winter.

Might sound far fetched but i think Jose has had a tip off that Kane is up to coming to Man Utd and will use cash on trying to get him a number 9 and a proven PL goal scorer - why trying to sign persic as he is a good crosser of a ball for Kane - would probably costbetween £100m to £120m but with spurs having a stadium to pay for they might be up to selling - especially as they know even with Kane they are garbage at Wembley and if they finish outside top 4 next season Kane's value will drop considerably

Its amazing that we're laughing at a bid of £87 million for a teenager. Compared to the reaction to £38 Mil for Martial. Its just exploded the past year

Hopefully this will end the rumours.

Benfica are the feckers behind this, the player doesn't really want to go, but the club are trying to create a market. Same as last window, we were never interested and benfica were trying to offload onto us.

Can we add Portuguese newspapers to the ban list? Have spouted nothing but shite with regards to United for years.

When you to start saying the world has gone mad, eventually you have to wonder if you yourself is the one who is mad. :nervous:

No one knows if AG agreed to any deal, the only people who know that would be Jose, Woodward, AG and Atlético Madrid. You can't blame him for being loyal to his current club.
