Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

I'm for one loving Barcelona getting pushed around for a player at their own game. This is fantastic.

Someone should do the same to real Madrid.

Never heard of Paris United until this summer, now out of nowhere they seem to be the Di Marzio of France, always with every behind the scenes scoop

Neymar's contract is ready at the Nataf Fajgenbaum et Associés law office. J-C Blanc (PSG general manager) came to take it.

What does this mean? That PSG are triggering clause and everything is set?

I want to start like a strategic alliance with PSG or something that would see us start to push Madrid/Barca around like they've done to us and other clubs somehow

Did a quick name search of the old pogba transfer thread. If you did feel like that you certainly didn't utter those concerns. Just saw alot of the usual panic posts from you when a big transfer saga drags on "oooh if it doesn't happen within this week then it's never ever gonna happen thats just how I feel and my opinion so there" type of stuff.

You seemed eager enough for it to go through.

Sorry nothing to do on a sunday.

Maybe at the exact time I was excited about the potential but a year later what with the sort of money being spent I personally feel out of touch with the top level, I'm aware I might be one of a very few but meh.

And yes, far to much time lol I get excited about transfer sagas but when I stop and really think about it, it's all gone bloody crazy.

You know if Barcelona hadn't pissed off PSG with their open courting of Veratti, I doubt PSG would have been so hell bent on signing Neymar.

Well if this is true Neymar and his father are a disgrace. He signed a 5 year contract just 6 months ago. In that period Barcelona have not won anything.

If he is going to moan about money every 6 months call his bluff and get rid. £196m is probably a 10th of the value of the entire club.

How can these players want more money constantly when they earn so much and as it seems with Barcelona players pay no tax as well.

Nothing? Did you not witness his yesterday magics?

Sounds like it to me. Weird they didn't need to hire some Amigo to do the job?

Sure is. Record defender signing one after another one, yet there is always doubt about the defense...

With Mendy signing soon for city, they have the top 3 most expensive defenders of all time (and 5 in the top 7):

Benjamin Mendy, £52m (BBC: http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/40691689)
John Stones, £50m
Kyle Walker, £50m

David Luiz, £50m
Eliaquim Mangala, £42m
Shkodran Mustafi, £35m
Nicolás Otamendi, £34m

That's just crazy.

Seems to be the case. Especially with Verratti now former agent questioned PSG ambition while name drop Barcelona as his destination for ambition reason.

By rumor, Seems like Neymar Sr talk with Barcelona didn't work out so PSG rumor has more weight

So sources today say Neymar is getting a new Barca contract and that his PSG contract is being sorted. Which is it?!
Both, they're sending the other guy to PSG.

And not one of them you would describe as World Class

That Mangala price cant be true, can it? What a massive loss if true :wenger:

We are not trying to win the PL in four or five years time we need to win it in the next 2 so if jose wants Matic, Ed should get him
If Jose wants Matic then fair enough. Most of the opinion I've read though suggests that Dier is Jose's first choice. All I'm saying is that, all things being equal (which I think pretty much they are in that both have proven to be excellent holding midfielders), and daft though the fees being quoted are, £50m for Matic looks a lot more mad than £65m for Dier, given their relative age, likely longevity and resale value.

Question, is anyone else getting a little bit fed up with the sort of money exchanging hands these days? As a football fan I'm starting to feel more and more disconnected with the game at the top level (and yes I felt the same when we spent money on Pogba last summer).

What do crazy transfer fees have to do with how connected you feel to the game? Back in the early 60's Jimmy Greaves transfer fee was about 40 times the average house price. Once the compensation for a footballer simply changing teams is more than the biggest purchase most people will ever make in their lives, then surely, if we based our connection to the game on transfer fees, then surely it would have ended before most living football fans were born.

In reality modern media should make fans more connected to the game than ever.

It wasn't that long ago that fans had to make do with MOTD, a bit in the newspaper and Saint and Greavsie on Saturday morning. The majority of people on this forum live nowhere near Manchester. Not so long ago they'd have had to make do with watching 3 or 4 games per season on TV.

That will be tough to do considering players don't want to leave a luxury life of madrid and barca and come to Manchester . Weather does play a huge factor and that is why many south american players would hesitate to move there.

Fair point, the answer to your question is.. I don't know. For me, maybe it isn't solely down to the stupid figures being thrown around.. it doesn't sit right with me but maybe other factors such as to me it seems football comes second to money now at the top level. I can't quite put my finger on it but I'm falling out of love with top level football and am probably finding excuses as to why.

Reports (And city) at that time said he cost £32m but there was leaked document saying he cost over £40m
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/eliaquim-mangala-cost-manchester-city-7215165

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co...ester-city-defender-eliaquim-mangala-10764233

According to the document, which appeared online on Wednesday, Porto only owned 56.67 percent of Mangala's economic rights.

The remainder was split between The Doyen Sports Investment Limited, who owned 33.33 percent, with another 10 percent belonging to an Austrian marketing company.

City had to pay close to £24m for Porto's share alone, meaning the remainder of the deal took the total to £41.4m.

I don't think they care that much about loss or potential resale value of the players they buy.

Barca won't give Neymar a raise in any case.

Any club in the world would want Neymar in their team. His goal last night against Juve was sensational, the way he dragged the ball forwards so he could shoot. One of the top 5 attackers in the world.

Couple of journos talking about us on the Press Pass on talkSPORT earlier and reckon we will bring in at least another 2 players by Sep 1st.

As a PSG fan, what do you think about this signing?
Very excited!

He's a fantastic player and exactly what we need. That's really a transfer that would make history.

Yes, that is true. But I must tell you that, like with many famous Brazilians, his performances are highly related to his mood. If he's feeling it, he will play a great game, but if he doesn't feel it, he can also frustrate you a lot. Once he ends up in a spot where he loses a bit of his passion for the game, the decline will be swift. Messi and Ronaldo have something different. They perform in a much more controlled and professional way, almost like a dentist going at work every day and doing his dental operations and stuff like that. They have reached a kind of routine of being the best. Neymar isn't there yet, and if that's his ambition I feel he's going to get disappointed soon.

Well I assume he´ll sign one contract and charge the other team with a 10M dollar negotiation fee.

With all this transfer talk, suddenly the 100 Million Euros we will likely pay Atletico for Greizmann in January or next summer doesn't seem that pricey after all. He's also among the world's best.
