Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Just pay it. City want to spend upwards of 300m so why are we worried about price. It's not like we have that much time to wait around for targets to become available and at the right price. If Mou wants them and we can get them we should get them. What happens if we have another Griezmann situation next season? I feel uncomfortable with only 3 signings this summer

We really should go for himl
I genuinely have no idea why we're not (unless our interest is just VERY well hidden)

If it's about £50m then we can easily afford him. We need him. And if he's willing to move to Manchester, why not United?

Yeah, considering prices then 50m for him would be a steal. Hopefully it is being done on the dl.

Covered all bases in a single tweet. Impressive.

Thanks for this post. On point.

People are missing the positives about our situation. We are keeping the team intact while gradually adding relevant additions. We were difficult to beat last season. Next season will be the same plus, we'll be banging in more goals.

Yep, plenty of positives even as we are.
Lukaku was second top scorer last year, is younger and more mobile than Ibra. Probably will be a bit easier to rest/rotate occasionally too, whereas with Ibra, apart from the occasional cup game v lower league fodder, it was like a political tightrope to leave him out.

It isn't any sort of "leap" to think Martial, Mhky and Pogba will be better next season. The first two barely played half the season!

Hopefully, the addition of Lukaku means our counter attacking will make us more of a threat in the big aways.

i highly doubt arsenal would sell to us or city for that price. surely its 70 million plus. i think they would rather let him go abroad for 50million

What does the fact that City are spending 300 million have to do with us buying Perisic?? It'd be the definition of stupidity if we pay such amounts even in today's market for players like Perisic. And since you mention City they have bought genuine quality players. Silva, Walker, Mendy, Ederson are all quality players ( never really seen Danilo play much). Perisic on the other hand isn't someone whom I'd label a Man Utd quality player. People here moan about Fellaini and Lingard and yet want us to spend 50 million on Perisic with their only argument being that Mourinho wants him. Well if Mourinho wanted him that much I'm pretty sure we would have got him already. The way this has panned out I think Perisic was one of the alternatives we were ready to go to a certain amount for in case all else failed, but he wasn't a priority target.

Maybe Inter are getting worried that we will walk away from this, hence the change in tone, to me the power has swung back our way and we should stick to our guns price wise.

This could drag on if we think they're trying to fleece us and they think we will eventually capitulate.

I will be massively undehwlemed with matic. If he isn't good enough for Chelsea anymore he isn't good enough for us. Also if that's it for the summer and we miss out on neymar, Sanchez, mpappe, veratti, Fabinho, bale, morata etc then Woodward has failed. Considering he spent the whole football season arranging funds with these organisations as official sponsors he will have failed to deliver in the whole purposes of this sponsorship exercise which was to support the revenues for transfer spendings. Sort it out ed and get the fans excited, throw the money around and be bold.

Thats it completely forget the manager player dynamic when making the same tired old argument. Ever consider Conte couldnt get the same performances out of Matic that Jose did and maybe Jose knows this? Nah of course you didnt.

The point is why do we care about money? Whats 10m more to us? City are literally willing to spend whatever it takes but we're haggling over 5/10m? Who honestly cares about money when we have enough of it? I get trying not to be rinsed but if we don't sign Perisic at all just to save a few quid that's honestly ridiculous. How much will it affect our season by not improving our attack at all this summer (presuming Lukaku only replaces Ibra's goals). We will probably make that 10m back by finishing higher in the league/getting further in the CL.

The point isn't about quality of Perisic, no one knows how good he will do it's all guessing. My point is though he is a target and Woodward is willing to go this far to sign him so clearly hes a priority on some level. If we don't get one of our priority targets over money where's the logic? Weaken ourselves for the whole season because we wouldn't cough up 10m more

Normally this sort of deal would have been done by now, so yes it's dragging now, but there seems to be a change from Inter's side to me, and once they start admitting he could leave then it's a show of weakness, so I think it'll ultimately happen now, and we'll save a few million on their current asking price, whether it'll all be worth it though is the only question, hopefully the fans are wrong and Jose is right.
