Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Question, is anyone else getting a little bit fed up with the sort of money exchanging hands these days? As a football fan I'm starting to feel more and more disconnected with the game at the top level (and yes I felt the same when we spent money on Pogba last summer).

Yep. Its not just the transfer fees and wages, the whole game at the top end is all about money. From ridiuclous TV deals forcing fans to pay stupid amounts to watch a few games, to clubs preferring to finish 4th becaus its worth more than winning a trophy. Every aspect of the game is money orientated and its been slowly ruining it for a while,

Neymar lawyers in Barcelona to finalize a new contract.

This guy seems to be an absolute joke of a journalist. First he said it's definitely done, then Neymar had some doubts and now he is signing a new contract.

Marcelo Blechler still covering all his bases.

If they're gonna give him a new contract make the buyout 300m.
If I am not wrong Barça paid to his father 50m€ for the last renewal, last year. Would they pay him again?.
I think Barcelona shouldn´t fall into blackmail every six months

Shouldn't. Which is why if they give him a new contract, they need to impose some things as well. Like +1 year and 300m. buyout at least.

This can't be real? I fecking hate football!

Neymar to stay one more year so Barca have time to sort things out.
Barca had no idea this would happen, they were working on Paulinho ffs.
The leg work needed to sign a big enough star to replace Neymar just isn't there.
Higher wages and he'll be gone next year, just like Antoine

The feck? €50m to his Dad just for a contract renewal? That's disgusting

PSG are about to break the transfer market. I really hope the transfer doesn't happen.

I hope it does. Tired of all those whining non-United fans mouthing off about how Pogba is over rated and how we destroyed the transfer market. Let the burden roll over to PSG and Neymar for now.

It's become mercenary which in itself makes it harder to relate to the players since many of them play for the money rather than any particular desire to play for a club.

Meanwhile Neymar Sr is in New York with the Barca board and Zahavi met Henrique in Paris.

PSG asked Di Maria to leave.
Lucas should go.
Ben Arfa's contract will be terminated.

Hopefully since we are not getting Perisic, Lucas Moura is the answer. He doesn't throw any tantrums and he works hard for the team and needs a bit more direction to be more productive. I think Jose could work wonders with him. He's only 24 as well. Martial, Rashford, Lucas, Mata, Lingard wouldn't be bad for wingers going into the season.

My only worry is that he plays as a right winger. Because we have Valencia who is so good going forward and we don't have anyone like him at left back, it makes much more sense to play a proper winger on the left side and cut in/drift in type winger on the right. Otherwise we would be very wide on the right side but our left side would be non existent, would give us more variety in attack to have width on both sides

Agreed. Exactly the reason I think we're favouring a left winger it seems.

Plus €40M to sign him in the first place

And barcelona will cave. They're the kind of club who allows its superstars to blackmail them. Messi signed 5 new contracts since 2008(2008-2009-2013-2014-2017)

Sure he's Messi, but Neymar's not that far behind

Did a quick name search of the old pogba transfer thread. If you did feel like that you certainly didn't utter those concerns. Just saw alot of the usual panic posts from you when a big transfer saga drags on "oooh if it doesn't happen within this week then it's never ever gonna happen thats just how I feel and my opinion so there" type of stuff.

You seemed eager enough for it to go through.

Sorry nothing to do on a sunday.

Who exactly is Zahavi and what is his role in this? A broker in the same way Jorge Mendes sometimes does for certain deals? He sounds rather shady.

The whole transfer window has become agents play yard. They are spreading fake stories to the journalists who buy into all the crap

He is. He's basically the first super-agent - prior to Mendes and Raiola.
