Has Ronaldo skipped a game every year to attend his sister's birthday? Neymar has, with the game he skipped this year being one they lost. Had they won that game they would have won the league title.
Wow I'm suprised he was allowed to do that when the race for the title was so close I could see when that would be frustrating but can't blame there poor season all on him not attending one game.

Yeah. He makes sure to get a suspension for the game that week due to accumulation of yellow cards. This year he wasn't able to do that so he had an "injury" instead. Was still fine enough to party with his sis.
The old Denis Law trick eh? Didn't he used to be injured/suspended for Hogmanay?

Don't know why but I am seriously starting to admire the way spurs do their business. Reminds me a lot of us in mid 2000s. I know this could all turn out to be one gigantic waste of time and spurs just drop out of top 4 but they have been really impressive on and off the field.

Yes and no.
On one hand they have a fine 14-15 players all good ages, playing some good football.

But now they have the massive problem of how to improve the team, and it does need improving, as they haven't won anything!
When you don't improve, and it's optimistic that those players can all suddenly go up another gear together, you stay still. And when you stay still, you start going backwards

Yes we just lost at least 600k a week off our wage bill with Zlatan and Rooney but we'd have very little for anything else until the next Summer transfer window and we need another 2 players either now, in this window or in January so like I said doesn't make financial sense for us at this time.

Are you one of those naïve people who think Rooney happily skipped off from 300k a week down to about 100k-150k with Everton, without any contribution from us at all?

In previous years he's made sure he had a suspension during the game the week of his sister's birthday by accumulation of yellow cards. He couldn't do that this year as he had accumulated the yellow cards early, so he said he was injured. Not like the people at Barca could say he was lying so he got out of the game that way so he could party with his sister. I

t's a shit attitude to have as a player. I'm not blaming their poor season overall on him not being at one game, but if they had won that game then a poor season would have turned out to be a decent one. Fine margins. When you're paying the money Barca do on his wages, having the drama of him missing a game each season on purpose is a joke. Imagine if he was here and missed the derby (for example) so he could go partying in Brazil?

So Barca could spend 100m euro of their 220m windfall on fecking Coutinho?
That leaves 120m euro to fix leaks in their side or just strengthen their depth which isn't really that much.
Thats not a good thing

Switching Neymar to Coutinho strikes me as a really quick way to continue their slide from finest club side of the last 50years back to their "slump" years. Which was still 2nd/3rd in the league in fairness, but still.

Wow yeah when you put it like that i can see why they'd want to get rid.

I'm not a fan of Barca by any stretch of the imagination, but does anyone else hope that Neymar crashes and burns at PSG?

Juve want to replace Bonucci with Jiminez. His release clause is 45m euros.

I reckon this is merely an interim move to enable him to go to Real Madrid in a year or two.

Im sure thats why there was no transfer fee involved so he left and that was the end of it

While I think this Neymar deal will happen at this stage, Balague isn't exactly the best source for confirmation

It's a shame West Ham are so shit or he'd be worth putting in my fantasy team.

West Ham are decent going forward (and I think they'll be better this season). Their defence is awful now though, which is strange considering Bilic was a defender. You'd think he'd know how to organise a defence.

I still haven't really heard the reason why Neymar wants to leave for PSG. What would he get there that he doesn't at Barca? Much smaller club in a league no one cares about. No better chance of winning the CL than Barca have. He seemed great mates with Suarez and Messi.

Why the sudden desperation to leave?

Could be worth it for when they go up against bad teams then.

Probably wants to be out of Messi's shadow.

Will he still have the hunger and ability by that age? There's a fine line of Brazilian players whose ability and commitment fell off a cliff as they got into their later 20s.

I bet Ed though, is gutted the market has gone as mental as it has, as otherwise i'm sure we'd have been in for £100m when £100m was seen as incredible!

Easy, he's in the game for the money and wants as much as possible for him and his family. Couldn't have been clearer when he moved to Barca, and even more so now. Type of character who will show up in China for £30m a year net when he's approaching his 30s.

More money, some Brazilian mates there including his best one Dani Alves and he'll get to be the main man with the team built around him. If he leads PSG to CL glory he'll win the Balon d'Or and he's used to the pressure having had to deal with massive pressure being the star of Brazil.

I don't think he does. He just needs to be shown every month or so how much he's loved and valued. He just likes being the topic of discussion. While doing that making Barca shit themselves into bumping up his wages.

Yeah that's pretty much the reasons summarised. Most important is obviously the extra money but combined with these other things it's understandable why he'd want to leave. Not like PSG were a million miles off winning the CL without him so with him in their team there's a good chance they could put in a strong challenge for it

Mateschitz (RB owner) has already said he won't let Keita leave. Usually I don't give a lot about that, but Red Bull (oh how much I hate them can't be described in words) use Leipzig to enhance their brand further, and Keita is more or less one of their most important players. Knowing Mateschitz "well" he will not accept being 2nd best even to Bayern, and Keita is integral to their plans. I'll be absolutely astonished if Liverpool manage to sign him.
