Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

80 million for a striker who never managed to score more than 15 league goals in his career (and he reached 15 only once). Just weird for me and I like Morata, but it really makes our Lukaku deal look better. Morata is a good striker, but hasn't shown anything and anywhere that he is a world beater who wins you trophies and can score enough goals, especially in teams who don't score or dominate that easy. Numbers for Mbappe are also crazy, but that kid looks really special and is much younger and his first season has already surpassed everything I saw from Morata so far. Maybe he can prove me wrong, but that transfer really doesn't bother me much. The genius in this whole thing is again Real Madrid, they get over 100 million for Morata and Danilo and nobody knows why and they just missed the triple with James, which they couldn't sell for another huge fee.

Madness, you'd have put your house on Chelsea signing Lukaku and us signing Morata a few weeks ago.

I'm sure Lukaku will get at least 25-26 goals in the league alone as long as everything goes alright.
Don't want to belabour the point but in the PL 26 goals is often enough to win the Golden Boot.
Former United great strikers Rooney, Ronaldo, Van Persie and Van Nistelrooy managed that mark a total of 4 times between them during their time at the club.
Then there's the likelihood that Rashford, Martial, Mkhitarian, Pogba and Mata plus any additions will be taking their share of chances which all points to the likelihood that your guesstimate is a little on the high side IMO.
Your caveat "if everything goes right" could mean anything, so is say 32 PL starts a number which will yield the 26 goals?

He scored 25 goals in 37 EPL games last season in an inferior team, what will prevent him from getting the same number or even more with one or 2 goals in a more superior team ?

Will be interesting to see who does best in the league next season out of Lukaku and Morata, especially seeing though we could have had either two.

Teams don't park the bus against Everton. They do against Man United.
