Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

If Lukaku was playing in place of Rooney last season, would've already been title contenders.
doubt it, title contenders have a striker that scores 25 -30 PL goals as well as a midfielder player turning in 15-25 goals + assists.
That midfield player like Dele Alli, Hazard, Sanchez is usually the difference in winning and loosing.

Fair enough. But the fee is going to be £75 to £80 million, i dont see Chelsea paying 100 odd million for Morata.

Which leads to the point that United would have happily paid the the 75 million for Morata which they ended up paying for Lukaku anyway who was the back up option, so Madrid were asking us for more money then they did from chelsea, Maybe pay back for the de gea thing.

We bid in euros not pounds. Chelsea will make money from Costa sale, so their net spend in him will be lesser than ours.

And at 23 he shouldn't be thinking he's bigger than Everton. He's done nothing so far. He's not even done enough to be considered a regular England international yet.

If he forces the exit then he has an attitude problem as far as I'm concerned and won't make it.

Lukaku?

a bit confused why our £75 million for Morata wasn't accepted and Chelseas is ???

The media pressure both on Morata and Lukaku will be immense next season, and whoever out of the 2 scores less will be trolled hard by the fans and the media.

Maybe Real envisaged United with a bigger bank account than Chelsea and could screw United for more?

Belgium regular. 20+ goals in successive seasons.

You can't compare what Lukaku did at Everton to Barkley. Barkley was criticized a lot last season for poor performance too.

I'm not writing him off, but I'd worry about a player who'd try leaving before really proving himself where he currently is. Not many people would say Barkley is Everton's best player when really they should have been by now imo.

We bid 75 m euros. Chelsea are getting fleeced which we dint wanted to for an unproven player.

Chelsea can sell Costa and make money , we had to spend from our pockets the whole fee.
there isn't much of difference between Euros and GBP at the moment, i think the transfer rate is €1.20 for a £1 so that wouldnt be an issue.

And tbf Morata is more proven as a striker then Lukaku, he's won titles and cups in 2 top leagues, won the champions league twice and at the international level for Spain.

my theory is Madrid had a different price for United and a different price for any other club for Morata because they wanted to get one over us for the De Gea saga and once Athletico got the transfer ban and Griezman couldn't leave Madrid thought United were desperate and had no other option other then Morata.

Absolutely puzzled that Danilo would agree to go to Man City. Does he enjoy sitting on the bench? Likewise, why would City spend 30m on a RB just days after spending 50m on another one?
Not that I think this would be a good idea but they could be buying him to play as a CM. He started out in midfield for Santos & played there for Porto aswell. It was only in the later years he played RB.

yup thats my thinking.
Madrid and everyone knew Griezeman was going to be our big signing for the summer, once Zlatan got injured and Athletico got a transfer ban meaning Griezman couldn't leave Madrid thought united were desperate and will pay anything to get Morata, plus Madrid wanted to get one over us for the De Gea saga so upped Moratas price another £10 million for United and another price (75 million) for any other club.

No, absolutely not. 78 m pounds is 90 m euros. We dint go higher than 75 m euros, and that's what we thought morata was worth , nothing more.

Real madrid will be selling for the same money they quoted us but Chelsea sale of Costa will make their net spend in him lesser than ours. There is absolutely no de gea revenge involved here , they just want the money for mbappe and this is their last chance to earn such a money as no other team can pay that price and are desperate that much to gamble such an amount on a player yet to prove consistently and lead the line in a top club for the whole season.

The price is still the same. But Chelsea payed it and we did not.

Lukaku played for Wba and Everton and scored 20+ goals in the league in what, 3-4 seasons?

Morata is not proven in the league. He's not proven as a consistent starting 9. He's not proven to contribute consistent goal tallies for lesser teams.

Lukaku on the hand, is proven on all three fronts, making him a much lesser risk than Morata. Whilst there is unanimous agreement that Morata will probably be a great number 9, the large fee makes us favour someone more established. Lukaku is certainly more established than Morata. No one can really deny that.

And Lukaku has the bonus of counting as homegrown. Chelsea only have Cahill, Moses and Fabregas who fit that in their first team. Guess they'll be including Lewis Baker and Tomas Kalas in their squad this season but still not great.

What is everyone going on about in here, clearly he's talking about the prices quoted in the media as the asking price for Morata, not the amounts that have been offered.

He's just saying, that the price has never changed, despite all the speculation.

He definitely pointed fingers. In the subtle way that he likes to do.

Don't agree at all in that interpretation. First he says that no one is to blame. Second he explains that the transfer market is very difficult, "not to say impossible".

If this goes through, he's going to be quite motivated when playing us I suspect :P

Seriously though, it's interesting as I think it's worked out where Chelsea got the player that suits them and we got the player that suits us. I also think Lacazette really suits Arsenal. Should be an interesting fight for top PL scorer next season with Kane in the mix (and Aguero of course assuming he stays).
