Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

"We saw 65, 90, 75 threw in"

So a 90 bid already happened, but a 80 bid will get the player? Blah blah blah.

I think he means the papers reported all these different asking prices but whoever he works for said it would be 80 all along.

Apologies if this has already been posted. An honest assessment of the transfer situation by our manager, edited:

Jose Mourinho admits he 'cannot say that I am happy' with Manchester United's transfer window so far.

"We always want more," he told ESPN. "We always feel there is room to improve, and I cannot say that I am happy with our transfer window.

"What I can also say is that it is a difficult transfer window and I don’t blame anyone - it is just a reality of things. The market is going in such a direction that many players are difficult to get, not to say impossible.

"Every club is powerful and they don’t want to sell or their demands are really high, so the market is difficult."

"What I will say is that, a long time ago, we thought about four players to strengthen our squad, but it is really hard to do it," he added to ESPN. "If we do the third and forget the fourth, I would be quite happy with that because I know it is difficult.

"At the moment we have Lukaku and Lindelof, two players I know well. I worked with one before and the other is from the Portuguese championship, which I follow every weekend.

Appreciate that from Mourinho. Not pointing fingers or anything.

Even if we were stupid enough to do this where would he play or instead of who?
No idea.

I thought the whole point of trying for a defensive midfielder was to give Herrera a box to box role and give Pogba more attacking freedom. I don't see how Barkley helps either of those things happen.

So many things I don't understand

Why he wants to leave Everton

Why any bigger club would want him

It feels a lot like Moyes, but in player terms. I think he'll get found out quickly and then wish he hadn't left.

The guy is 23 FFS and people are already writing him off.

I always felt that he had potential. Technically, he's adept on the ball. His decision-making has been questioned from time to time, however, I always felt that there was more to him than he was showing. He has a good strong build, good dribbling skill. He has a large upside. The question is whether consistency can be coaxed out of him. He's got talent, perhaps it's mental and that he simply lacks drive and determination.

And at 23 he shouldn't be thinking he's bigger than Everton. He's done nothing so far. He's not even done enough to be considered a regular England international yet.

If he forces the exit then he has an attitude problem as far as I'm concerned and won't make it.

I really don't want anymore Scousers at the club, thanks.

And Barkley is just another overrated English player.

Maybe he feels like he needs a move to bring the best out of him. At the moment he's a big fish in a small pond, maybe going playing and training with better players can bring more out of him. I don't want him, but to write him off because he wants to move sounds strange.

a bit confused why our £75 million for Morata wasn't accepted and Chelseas is ???

The media pressure both on Morata and Lukaku will be immense next season, and whoever out of the 2 scores less will be trolled hard by the fans and the media.

Apart from the Mbappe saga, Are Barca and Madrid even linked with big name attacking players?
It can't be good for their league if we're sitting here in 12 months time and they've lost Neymar and Antoine while Suarez, Messi and Ronaldo are well into their thirties.

He's quoted at costing that much, it's not saying thats the price and how much he's going to cost. No where has it stated Real have agreed to a price and he's going to Chelsea. It's all basically the exact same stuff as when we were in for him, but with Chelsea's name.

Possibly they are willing to pay a large part of it upfront when we wasn't willing to do the same? They are in desperate need of a striker now so can't see Real not taking advantage of it.

Fair enough. But the fee is going to be £75 to £80 million, i dont see Chelsea paying 100 odd million for Morata.

Which leads to the point that United would have happily paid the the 75 million for Morata which they ended up paying for Lukaku anyway who was the back up option, so Madrid were asking us for more money then they did from chelsea, Maybe pay back for the de gea thing.

dont think payments was a issue yet between the clubs, we couldn't even agree a fee with them at the time.

My gut feeling is Madrid had a different price for United and a different price for every other club. Once they knew Griezman was staying they thought United were desperate and pay their asking price for Morata and decided to add an extra £10 million maybe pay back for the De Gea saga.

I reckon the fee if he goes to Chelsea will be reported as less than is true. It's in Real's interest to make it seem like they sold to Chelsea cheaper and Chelsea will also like to make out they got a better striker than Lukaku for less money.

Don't be surprised if a fee around 65-70 million euros is reported.

?

If Lukaku was playing in place of Rooney last season, would've already been title contenders.
Not understanding your point here. What does that have to do with anything that has been discussed? Fact is we are now rooney and Zlatan down, so in your opinion are we now title contenders?

He wont be cheaper, and he is for sure not better than Lukaku.

We bid 75 m euros. Chelsea are getting fleeced which we dint wanted to for an unproven player.

Chelsea can sell Costa and make money , we had to spend from our pockets the whole fee.
