Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Maybe, but Chelsea are the champions and if he suits them, they might just be champions again. We finished 6th. So does Lukaku suit a 6th place side?

Well, Lukaku was the main target of the champions, Conte must've thought he would have suited them.

I think they just wanted to prove something to Jose. That he dumped him and they could do something with him. He probably is the nearest to Costa without the nastiness. Think they are getting a more all round player with Morata. Chelsea's advantage is that the other players realised they had to score goals as well. Our wet themselves if they entered the penalty area.

I hope it works out for both players, but I would rather Morata had stayed where he was or went to Italy.

:( Real shame, he will be brilliant and score against us every damn game
Got Saturday's lotto numbers as well please mate?

I hate posts like that. I remember Chelsea signing Torres and thinking he'd be brilliant. Same for Ballack and Shevchenko.

Football has no guarantees.

I would rather see Lorente or Benteke upfront for Chelsea myself as I think Morata would be an exceptional striker for them.

However, I am happy we got the player Jose wanted and pissed Chelsea manager and fans in doing this.

Is that the plan though? We've seen little evidence of it thus far, we could easily be going with 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2 next season
I imagine we'll want to play to Pogba's strengths and 4-2-3-1 doesn't really do that. Our alleged midfield targets also seem to suggest we're looking for a DM to screen Herrera and Pogba.

That doesn't mean to say we wont play 4-2-3-1 or 3-5-2 at all but I'd be surprised if either were the formation of choice for next season.

We didn't piss the fans that much, not sure most wanted Lukaku anyway. Conte is always throwing a hissy fit about something. That is the way he is.

Also Chelsea are making sure Jose does not get the CDM he wanted in Matic. So both them and Real will be pretty chuffed with themselves.

Apologies if this has already been posted. An honest assessment of the transfer situation by our manager, edited:

Jose Mourinho admits he 'cannot say that I am happy' with Manchester United's transfer window so far.

"We always want more," he told ESPN. "We always feel there is room to improve, and I cannot say that I am happy with our transfer window.

"What I can also say is that it is a difficult transfer window and I don’t blame anyone - it is just a reality of things. The market is going in such a direction that many players are difficult to get, not to say impossible.

"Every club is powerful and they don’t want to sell or their demands are really high, so the market is difficult."

"What I will say is that, a long time ago, we thought about four players to strengthen our squad, but it is really hard to do it," he added to ESPN. "If we do the third and forget the fourth, I would be quite happy with that because I know it is difficult.

"At the moment we have Lukaku and Lindelof, two players I know well. I worked with one before and the other is from the Portuguese championship, which I follow every weekend.

Within a few sentences he goes from unhappy to happy.

Only thing that makes even a little sense is that perhaps owing to Danilo's ability to also play LB & DM that Pep covet's the player's versatility
True, but they're also apparently close to Mendy for yet another £40-50m. Why didn't they just keep Sagna for free and use him as cover? Spending money that could buy you a solid starter on a squad player is weird.

€35m for cover. Ridiculous.
From Alves to Danilo. What a step down. The Manchester clubs have an incredible ability to waste money on some bang average players, it's hilarious watching city fans on bluemoon and united fans on here justifying some of the stupid transfer fees and wages the respective clubs have paid out in recent times.

For the most part he was a liability, on big wages (perks of signing as a free transfer from Arsenal) and wasn't getting any younger.

No value in the market.. Fergie knew all along.

Sagna was terrible but can't say that Danilo is an upgrade so definitely agree

I have a couple of Chelsea friends who are pissed that they didn't get Lukaku. Maybe the general consensus is different.

We needed a striker more than we need a cdm. It was a good decision to focus on the striker even if that meant we lost on the first option in cm.

Doesn't sound too promising. I honestly can't see how securing the 4 targets (which José now believes won't happen) will turn us into title contenders and be competitive in the CL.
If Lukaku was playing in place of Rooney last season, would've already been title contenders.
