Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Hopefully the Martial stuff is as real as the advanced negotiations Di Marzio also said we were in for Fabinho.
The loan deal involving Martial won't happen for the simple reason that we'd then need another winger, which in this market is extremely difficult to pull off. For that reason and that reason alone (rather than any truth to Martial's entourage being agreeable to a loan or even Jose not fancying Martial) I don't think Martial will leave.

Given Jose has took to starting Lingard on the left, plus Perisic playing there, I don't think we'd need another. Jose tends to play one or two all season in one position. If anything three is overkill.

We would need another forward, though.

What did he say?
He said that Rashford had the 3rd most appearances last season out of the United players when most at the start of the season said he wouldn't get a look in (I think as a response to giving youth a chance).

Just as things were approaching a critical mass over Morata, we announced the Lukaku deal. Hopefully something similar happens now in relation to Perisic/ Dembele.

Yeah. After all it wasn't long ago Di Marzio said we were trying to sign Fabinho.

Yep. Don't get me wrong as I accept that clubs ask for players no matter how ridiculous we might think the chances are of it happening but to believe the storey with no eveidance and not only that but the obserdity of the club entertaining the offer on top of that are 2 stretches of the imigantion too much

Rashford and Lingard have both played more games at LW than any other position. Between them and Perisic we'd be covered for LW and we wouldn't need another signing.

There's not much difference (in style of play) between Martial and Rashford anyway, both are right-footed, fast dribblers that cut inside. Both are in essence forwards/strikers. Perisic is the one that can offer something different; natural width and left foot crossing ability.

So that's not the reason Martial is not going. It's simply because he's a very valuable and talented youngster who has a future here. Loaning him out will signal otherwise. So it's not gonna happen.

Welcome to Old Trafford the real Stewart Downing.

Lingard, no way!

Actually, Perišić is likelier to challenge Lingard that Martial, who should be more worried with Rashford, as you well said.

I take your point but I can't see Mourinho putting all his faith on Rashford and Lingard to do the business as wingers/ attacking forwards. We'd still need another creative player/ forward whose role is to create chances rather than just score them. Lingard in particular is a reliable squad player and not much more. We aren't winning the league with Lingard as a regular starter and I think Jose knows that.

Anyway either way, whether you or me are right, Martial ain't going anywhere.

Inter are doing a good job of making this deal complex, so fair enough to them. Think it's time we move, it's not like Perisic is world class. You would think we're trying to sign one of the best players in the world or something the way this is going

I don´t know how Woody gets all these great business deals done. All his transfer negotations seems to go like...

10. No 50.
Okay 12. No 50.
Okay 14+4. No 50.
Okay 20. No 50.
Okay 24. No 50.
Two months later....
Okay 50. No 50+5.
Okay 55. Yes. Deal.

I´d have walked away just to send a message for future negotiations, especially cause it is fecking Ivan Perisic and it´s no big loss.

Purely beyond the joke  do they realise Martial, in real terms, is easily worth about double what Perisic is? I'm glad they're being awkward as feck so we don't splash out ridiculous money on a soon to be 29 year old, semi top level winger. It's time our scouts put in a good word about some of the excellent upcoming talent that's potentially available at the moment.

Re: Inter developing bad feelings...

I have to say, I'm highly doubtful that businessmen at an executive level within a club the size of Inter would develop 'bad feelings ' over what was just a very normal and savvy negotiation tactic.

Waiting to see how their position was post FFP deadline is exactly how it would be played if the boot was on the other foot. The media make out like it's a bunch of stroppy teens doing these deals. (Perez being the exception)

The report simply says Inter want him, not that we're willing to trade.
Theres no point in pre-emptively slating Jose here
Both Jose and Ed should be severely criticized if their negotiating tactics are so poor that they have given Inter the impression that we must have Perisic, and only Perisic, at all costs. The fact that Inter have not only set a ridiculous price for their player, but have refused to budge and are raising the demands instead, while United just keeps coming back for more, suggests to Inter that United want Perisic no matter what. Most United fans I've seen are sick of Inter's intransigence and wish that we had told Inter to shove it long ago. Why is Ed still going back and back raising the bids? Is Perisic the only winger in the world?

Then you are very naive. Inter's new owners are Chinese. In China the concept of 'Face' is taken incredibly seriously. You don't threaten a man's- or a group of men's- public status financial or otherwise if you wish to be considered favourably by said party every again. The only way United were ever going to be able to get Perisic after trying to portray Inter as desperate for cash would be to embarrass themselves with an absurd financial offer and something else- like Martial on top.

These people do not need to sell, and they did not like being portrayed in the media as if they did, and likely feel they must reassert their authority. Whatever happens from hereon in, they have plainly done just that.

I know these types of tweets are not encouraged here but this looks like a legit family member of Martial

I confirm the interest of Inter for Antho. But his head is in Manchester and he is focused to make good preparation.

Martial follows him and has a picture with him

They've got one of the best teams in history IMO. Only two players from PL would start for them and they're both keepers.

Pogba, kane, kante would all start in their team. Rest like Sanchez, aguero, hazard, vertongen, valencia coutinho and even lukaku all have outside chances. I would say.

That's an exaggeration.
You can make an argument for some players but that would require a change in style. Considering they've just won the double and 3 CLs in 4 years there's no reason to accommodate for them. James Rodriguez not even making the bench for the recent CL final shows the ridiculous squad depth.

No way Kante starts over Kroos or Modric.

Sanchez doesn't start over Ronnie.

Aguero doesn't provide the same selfless play that Benzema does.

Kane again too selfish.

Continuous isn't better than Isco.

Valencia isn't as good as Carvajal

Alderweireld may have a chance but not Vertonghen.
