Not sure if people are suggesting, who he scores against and what the score is when he scores. If they are decisive goals or just feasting on teams who are already beaten? Don't know if anyone could find that out.

I am sure someone could, but Lukaku managed to score against teams we couldnt last season, so thats more than enough reason to sign him

Would love Lukaku, imagine him burying all the sitters that Zlatan missed last season. We're talking the guts of 10 points there.

Interestingly Zlatan has more winners to his name than Lukaku. There's an argument that Lukaku scores a lot of goals once a team has already routed. Obviously I know this isn't an exact science because different teams, etc, etc, so you don't need point that out :D Just thought I would share.

Well surely they'll throw us a lifeline with at least one of him and/or Perisic. Hardly fair if we ended up lumbered with both.
I don't have a problem with Perisic. If Lukaku proves he can score in the massive games that actually matter then he will be a good signing. I am just a bit doubtful about that. He could have won the golden boot but seemed to stop scoring and Harry Kane ran away with it. Not sure if that was him or Everton.

United should be buying a number 9 and a 10. We also need a high quality central defender and a winger who will score goals. If Griezmann is off the table (which makes ZERO sense both from his and ours), I would imagine they'd have a few other options for number 10 lined up. Bale might be acceptable if he gets over his injuries. Sanchez would be ideal. The number 9 signing will be completely independent of the 10. We certainly need both if we're going to win the Champions League next season, a goal a team of United's caliber should have.

Yeah, where would we be if we had a striker who could finish off games!

How would people feel if we are desperate enough to pay more for Lukaku, but in instalments than it would cost for Griezmann? Or dare I ask that one?

100 mill for Lukaku? feck off I'd rather take a fake taxi with Daniel Levy and get Harry Kane for that amount!

That's fine, but what if he doesn't score against the ones we could score against.

Then we'd be screwed, but in all fairness I wasnt being serious

I like Lukuku though, and would be happy if we signed him, though not if he was our only signing, or our only attacking signing. Price is a big high too, but I suppose thats modern football

In that logic lets just get Benteke he is higher on that list than Zlatan

Probably best to retract the question. The place is already teetering on the brink!

Wouldn't mind Lukaku, couldn't give a shit how much he costs its not my money. People make out like he can only head the ball or hold it up. I would say that would be some of weakest attributes.. He will score goals for sure, scrappy, smelly, tap ins, penalties I don't care but he will guarantee goals

I think some people forget how sterile we were in attack. We did not score enough goals, at times through our own incompetence. We are sod all threat from set pieces. In fact, unless we get a penalty, corners and freekicks are a worthless waste of energy.

Zlatan did score a lot of winners but Lukaku only took 1 penalty and outscored him in the league playing for an inferior team. Both did good last season but for the future Lukaku would be my choice out of all realistic options. ie. Belotti, Morata.

Imagine City with Sanchez Jesus Mbappe up front with Silva, KDB and Fabinho and we have Rashford Lukaku and Perisic up top with Pogba Herrera and Dier.

Why the feck are you lot Fellaining Perisic? he isnt the issue here at all.

I love the term Fellaining, but I was just going from reports which have only seriously linked us with him so far. He's a good player and would improve our left side, but he wouldn't be enough.

Of course we wouldnt be enough thats not the issue really, I also dont think for a second Jose would think he was enough.

If that's the case (weaker frontline than last season) despite having champions league then us fans will have every right to be extremely hacked off.

You know why that's bollocks?

Let's say we still sign Griezmann and keep Zlatan, who gets fit by December or January, but until Zlatan is fit we go with Griezmann and Rashford/Martial as our strikers. That doesn't make us considerably weaker, we still get a world class attacker join us and, best case scenario, get Zlatan back for the business end of the season to implement this Zlatan Griezmann partnership these tweets are saying Jose wanted.

Worst case it doesn't work out, we cut our losses on Zlatan next year, still have Griezmann and sign another striker next summer. Thus splitting the cost of 2 brand new strikers up.

Also this is without factoring in Rooney. However shite he was, he was another forward on £200k+ p/w who needs to be replaced.

I don't buy it, but if it is true that then we're a bit silly.

Someone on my twitter feed said the other 2 Portuguese papers (O jogo and something else) have now said United are close to Lindelof. Any truth to this?

If it was with Griezmann I could cope with it as he would provide assists and can score goals as well. On his own I am not sure we would actually provide enough chances for him to score many. We are a terrible crossing side for a start. We need people who can take set pieces and putting even a rudimentary cross into the box. We even fail at throw ins sometimes.

We still have good players at the club, creative players who can improve from last season. Pogba, Mkhitaryan and Martial can all do much better. Rashford too.
We don't need 6 new players. If we get 4 good signings we are set. Lindelof/Keane, Fabinho/Dier, James/Perisic, Lukaku/Morata.

What i take from all this, is Woody is a massive fan of the caf's mupper mega-thread and didn't want to ruin it by wrapping up the signing of the summer by early June :lol::lol:

GriezmON is happening my muppets, don't worry :wenger:

Not overall, but if we're only adding (for example) Lukaku as a replacement for Zlatan, plus Perisic in attack, then our attack will only be slightly better, if any better than this season when we were struggling to score. Sure we may have a new DM and CB but it isn't likely to make us suddenly become a far better side going forward. If we had a Griezmann or someone similar, then we'd have that exciting, creative player who can give us that extra spark when needed.

Yep we have to hope and expect that our attacking players will improve/achieve more consistency next season as we cant replace em all.

That's your answer right there.

Imo he's still technically better than Belotti (who's reportedly another big target).
Maybe, but neither are enough on their own. We need a Greizmann type or a high scoring winger. I certainly wouldn't be thrilled with the idea of Zlatan coming back and being paired with Lukaku. The vision of the type of football to service them is not great.

I'll happily take Lukaku. I think people still think we've got 4 world class strikers at the club or something.

Maybe once we've signed our priority number 9 we can get back to looking at Griezmann

Or just get both at the same time? We don't have to wait to finalise one deal, for all we know we are speaking to all 4-5 targets at the same time which would make sense as well.
