Very strange Mourinho only wants two more players. As someone previously highlighted, we have lost many players through injury, arguably we are not even in a stronger position compared to last year(In:Lindelof, Perisic, Matic, Lukaku) out(Iba,Rojo,Schweinsteiger,Rooney,Depay,Shaw,Schneiderlin).

We made good signings so far but we need something special still in the final third and a quality defensive midfielder to add to that.

Add Griezmann to these four and we would look good. Plus ibra in winter. feck, such a pity.

This is objectively fair tbh

Lukaku Lindelof and Perisic are massively different players to all what we had. Shaw was out most of last year so I don't even count him as being part of last year.

Lindelof is a fast ball playing center back that will allow us to play differently like being able to press higher up and playing from out the back

Lukaku is completely different from Zlatan, he doesn't drop deep and is much faster than Zlatan. We don't have to have as patient build up and can play much harder faster in transition while still having a massive lad in the box.

Perisic is a two footed winger with tuns of pace that will stay wide and get in crosses to players in the box. He's also tall. He will give us much more options to what we had last year, and is a massive upgrade to Rooney on the wing which we played alot.

Matic would be literally the only real DM we have and would allow us to play so many different ways and allow us to even make pogba play freer in a 4231.

On "paper" maybe the signings dont lool super dooper pretty and exciting but every player is a piece of a puzzle that the manager is fitting together to win the EPL the way he knows how. Only Fergie was won the epl more than him. I trust in him and hope he gets these players he wants. even if Alex Shaw thinks they aren't cool enough

Absolutely agree with this. We've already heard Mou call out the 'Einsteins' in the media etc. The effect these signings will have on our balance, fluidity and tactics is very underrated. Our team suffers so much from being extremely unbalanced. We played so many games last season with Mata and Mikhi on the wings. Ibra who didn't have the legs/pace to stretch the defence and no DM to protect the defence meaning Pogba and Herrera had to be pretty defensive minded.

Will be huge just to have some players who allow our current top class players to actually perform to their full potential

We under performed massively last season. If Mkhi , Martial , Pogba , Rash could add more to the goal threat along with Lukaku putting sitters in, we have a great chance i reckon.

A great chance of what? Top four?

They will have to or we will be no better off and it could be the end for Mkhi and Martial.

Shaw and Young are in training, surely weeks not months away.

But if Shaw is not fit, play Mitchell in preseason and see how gets on. We need to remember to give young players chances. There are not loads of good left backs on the market anyway.

Yep, me either. We are currently behind City for example - if we get Perisic and they got Sanchez (for example) that gap is only getting bigger. We need a player like Sanchez ourselves.
If we could get Sanchez that would make a massive difference to us. Perisic would be better than nothing.

A too simplistic view.

Alot depends on who the DM is, if we get that right then it will improve us no end, + hopefully Mkitaryian, and Pogba will hit the ground running this time.

Agree. Mkhitaryan seems to be out of vogue but with a full season to adapt under his belt he should be better in the coming campaign. I think he was ok last season given the circumstances. He is at an age where more should be expected from now in and he doesn't need anyone to tell him that.

There were stats (don't remember where though) in april that stated that we had created 2nd most chances, but were 2nd worst scoring them. Our problem was that we missed oceans of chances.

To be fair it would be strengthening in key positions and I do think players like Pogba and Mkhi are in for a much better season. But yeah if we want to compete for the title we maybe need a bit more.

Agreed. And lukaku wont fix our goal problem. He will help but not solve it
We need two strikers with one 25+ and the other towards 20. Then good contributions from the rest. As you say Romelu will score goals, but Ibra will need to get a load when he comes back and it is if the others can step up. We can but hope.

The Griezmann non transfer hurts :( Mixed with these players he would elevate us to another level.

Yea it really buggered up our summer. Our team would be so much better with him behind Lukaku

Last 10 pages have been "feck off Inter".:lol:

TBH, seems crazy to think somebody would write a story about Martial + cash for Perisic, and not Perisic + cash for Martial. Hopefully it's just paper talk and Tony will be with us next season, regardless of what happens with Perisic.

I still think we'll be in for a Rooney replacement in addition to Perisic. Those 300k wages will be burning a hole in Woody's pocket. Wouldn't be surprised if we're dangling DeGea at Real in part exchange for Bale.

Morata is a great footballer, but what the feck does Madrid think he is? No one will/should agree to that price.

That is a certainty but I don't understand why we aren't looking for an alternative to Griezmann. Surely someone like James Rodriguez or Bernando Silva would have improved us aswell.

I also don't understand why we aren't in for Naby Keïta imo the next big star midfielder in the making. I think he will be even better than Kante for whoever he signs and atm that is looking more like Liverpool than us which is really frustrating.

And finally I also don't understand why we aren't looking to strenghten on the fullback position. If Shaw and Young are injurred and we are not 100% content with Darmian and Blind, the thing to do is sign a new fullback no ? Preferably one that can play leftback.

I like Lindelöf and Lukaku and I'am happy with Rooney and Januzaj leaving so far but alot more needs to happen and I'am not sure I like the players like Dier, Matic etc we are linked with and I also think we need more than 4 signings to sort out our team and play a role of significance again in the PL and CL.

It is all good hoping Pogba, Mkhi, Rashford and Martial will do so much better than last year but I just think if we are depending on only that we are setting the stage again for a failed season.

Im confused here, 4 new players in a starting 11 is a huge fecking difference. Its not just big names but what they add in terms of balance and dynamics.
Jose has said Lukaku will play in the final phase, that's different from Ibra dropping deep so the interplay between the front 6 is automatically altered. A ball playing CB and a DM that isn't Fellaini (ffs) that allows Herrera and Pogba more freedom going forward.
Never mind signing an honest to God winger who can cross a ball.
Im lost at how that's seen as not much different than what we already have

80m pounds, good luck with that. Morata is the victim here, but then again, seems happy enough so far.

Milan better go for Aubameyang/Belotti, around 60m for each
