Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Milan

From Morata to Aubameyang to Costa, bought Silva, to Belotti to Kalinic and then back to Aubameyang and Belotti

Have i missed someone?

Belotti should be our #1 target. Don't know why the club haven't triggered his release clause yet. Our preseason starts in just a few days and we have only Batshuayi on our roster as a forward.

His release clause is €100m isn't it?

Surely we now just need to consider whether we will pay what they're asking, and if not move on. All this lowballing will likely save very little money in the end, and we won't end up getting him until the last minute, which means he won't get a preseason with us and it will probably be Christmas before he settles properly. Selling clubs seem to have the whip hand these days...

Sounds like bollocks to me. All reports have suggested they are holding out for a specific price, as opposed to refusing to negotiate at all. Them 'not considering anything we have offered' is because we haven't offered their price.

Nowhere near as final (sadly) as the tweet was perhaps intended to be.

Wants to win titles, who wouldnt
And do it with the club you support whilst earning a massively enhanced salary. Still think there's nothing in it though, Spurs won't sell unless we offer something truly ridiculous.

It just means 'pay up if you want him, we have no issues with keeping him'

According to the report yesterday we already did - 25m :D

I hope it doesn't turn out to be Moyes-like summer where we were chasing players that are extremely difficult to acquire until the deadline day, in the meantime, passing on numerous opportunities to land other players that could easily improve us.

Would be pretty hard to achieve that what with having already signed two players already.

Not sure how you got your stats but I was more focused on the league. He played 24 times as a CM and 12 time s as a DM according to whoscored.com. Interestingly, his only goal and 7 assists came when he played CM. Herrera is far better going forward than defending. It will be a mistake to fix him in a DM position.

If, as you claim, he played more as a DM, that has to be one of the important reasons we struggled to score goals.
My stats come from personal observation of every game and checking his average positioning in sites like these. The only way I can understand those numbers from whoscored is supposing they are interpreting as CM when Herrera plays in a midfield two, for instance, with Pogba or Fellaini, which I would count as DM. Because what I'm interested are the instances where he plays the deepest in midfield. And in those situations, even if starting side by side, he always ends up dropping deeper than those players.

Do you rate Belotti?

'CITY IN MBAPPE BATTLE'

He’s been forever touted with Real Madrid but Sky Sports Spanish football expert Graham Hunter claims Monaco sensation Kylian Mbappe is now the subject of a sustained approach from Manchester City.

“City are talking actively to Mbappe’s representatives and saying City is the best placed to develop his career, where he could work with Pep Guardiola and be paid handsomely,” Hunter told Sky Sports News HQ.

“Real Madrid, meanwhile, are wooing Mbappe’s agents saying they will break the transfer record for this kid. Zidane, of course, has known Mbappe since he was 14.

“The battle is with Manchester City and they are persuasive and Mbappe is now thinking long and hard between London, Madrid, Paris and now Manchester. City are in that battle.

“At the moment it’s hard to see him choosing Monaco over one of those, but none of clubs know who is favourite to sign this exceptional 18-year-old.”

So who they getting rid of for him G.jesus? Aguero? Absolute morons running things over at City.
Yeah, who would want those players, right? And I'm pretty sure Guardiola can come up with something awkward to fit them all in.

How many forwards do they need at City?!

Won't matter one iota if they don't sort their defence out though.

Costa was great for the honey moon period at Bayern, but once the purple patch wore off he became pretty ordinary. I don't rate Perisic either, he's bang average and it's fecking bizarre we're willing to fork out that much for him tbh.

Aye, Costa became amazingly overrated on here for a bit but I never really saw it with him, to be honest. I don't really rate Perisic and the money being quoted is absolutely mental; literally no other team on the planet would go near him at that price. I have seen him have some good games though, so if we sign him - which we probably will - I hope he can be a useful signing.

He didn't exactly succeed last year. Don't you think they should spend money on other positions before adding an extra forward?

Something like that, yeah. Only 23/24 and bags of potential so could be our new #9 for years to come. Worth the money for me.
Do you rate Belotti?
I do. Closest striker to Costa out there in terms of playing style. Would perfectly fit in Conte's system. More so than Morata or Aubameyang.

Attacking wise, I think he succeed better than our own Mourinho, actually. Guardiola seems to revert that idea of building a team from the back. I agree they need to strengthen their defense, just not sure it has to be first. Specially if it lands them someone of the calibre of Mbappé.
