So we're gonna spend more or less a combined 100m on Dire and Perisic? For that amount we could get most players in the world.

This here is the problem with fans at the moment. For that amount we can't get most players in the world any more.

Especially if you take British clubs. Premoer league clubs have so much money they no longer need to sell. The lowest ranked team last year that got relegated got more 'prize money' than bayern munich for winning their league.

Even most big European clubs now have rich owners.

When everyone has so much money, the relative price of things shoot up. The only way to really look at it is to compare the amount players cost to how much a club earns.

Someone did this last year and showed that pogba was cheaper got united than Roy keane was.

People should stop carrying how much a club spends on players, its not your money, those who spend it know what they can afford as lot more than you

Why do I get the feeling something big is about to happen.

If we do sign them it'll probably kill all my enthusiasm for the upcoming season and not even our shiny new striker would keep us from finishing 6th again.

Don't put your money on us finishing 6th my friend. You will lose it. :)

I rather we buy players Mourinho wants, cause they fit in his system and might sound "underwhelming" than to buy "muppet" signings cause they have a great name, but wont fit in the team like under van Gaal.

Nah. Woodward needs to be firm and stop Mourinho building another one of his rugby teams. Whatever happens, he'll throw a sulk after three years and leave with a massive pay-off in all likelihood, and the players will still be at the club on massive wages with United having to subsidise their departures. Mourinho wanted to be a Manchester United manager, he has to act like one and buy only the very best, and a Spurs squad player is not that.

True that we would be a powerhouse, but lacking in flair, if we only add the likes of Dier, Perisic and Lukaku.

Carrick was always impressive with his reading of the game and passing off either foot when he was with Spurs. Can't see the same with Dier. I rather play TFM or Axel.

Some of us did see that Carrick were a great player, but many did not. I am not saying Dier can have a similar impact as Carrick, but he has something I really rate.

Are Mhki, Martial, Pogba and Rashford not "flair" players?

Suppose. Will Mourinho start trusting Martial and Mkhitaryan more or keep digging them out in public? Doesn't seem like he is delighted to have them, especially if he is buying Perisic.

Spending 200 million on Perisic, Dier, Lindelof and Lukaku is not money well spent imo. While I do like Lukaku from that lot, for 200 million you better be getting more technical class than that lot offers.

I hope Jose signs a few more skillful players this summer.

I will be amazed if we end the summer without signing genuine difference maker - we need someone with magic in their boots that can create from nothing and drag three opponents with them wherever they go. Mourinho isn't stupid, he knows that power alone isn't enough. I think the press know about our more bread-and-butter signings, but a big flair signing will hopefully come out of the leftfield.

NB the above is based on nothing more than gut feeling, and maybe a tiny bit from the Stan Collymore tweet the other day...

Wonder if this BS will ever end.

He didn't sulk and throw a fit at either Porto or Inter. He simply left for bigger stages.

Hard to see Martial getting much gametime with a new first-choice left winger and striker coming in. That's assuming he survives the summer clearout, of course.

Would assume it's a Perisic, Mkhitaryan, Lukaku front three next season, with Mata, Rashford and Lingard next in line.

I think with Lukaku, a striker dependant on service, there is a greater need for more creativity. As such, rather than a Fabinho, i would rather two B2B midfielders supporting Pogba. Keita would be my first choice. Then i will compensate the lack of width with fullbacks with great attacking instincts like Semedo.

It is if that's who the manager wants and it's not possible to bring them in any cheaper.

Too many people saying we could sign x, y or z for that money. We can't; They'd either cost a whole lot more (people need to catch on with the state of the market now); simply be impossible to buy; or the manager doesn't want them.

Doesn't look like it though. Maybe Jose thinks he has enough skilled players in the form of Pogba, Mikhitaryan, Mata, Martial and Rashford, and needs some functional players around them. In that case though, in my opinion, we'd still be a Griezmann level player short from becoming a complete team unless some players like Martial, Mikhitaryan and Rashford improve their output significantly.

What nonsense

The moment the Financial director starts dictating which players the manager should sign, trouble isnt far away. Thankfully our club isnt run by idiots.

United wanted Mourinho as manager and knew what they were getting with him. It works the other way round too.

He buys the best players for his team...

Dier a squad player? really?

He started 34 Premier league games and 5 out of 6 champions league games this season..

He is not first choice in midfield.

Rugby teams? He signed:
Mkhitaryan - Very good technically
Pogba - One of the best in the world
Ibra - Same
Bailly - His technique is more than enough for a CB. His composure and the way he bring the ball from the back is very good.

This season we signedL
Lindelof - Haven't watched him but apparently very good on the ball
Lukaku - Not the most technically gifted player but far from the lump people think he is.

Where is this "rugby" thing coming from?

So manager leaves after 3 years means we shouldn't buy players he wants? What a weird logic.

I personally think we have too many flair players and need some of these "workhorses" in our squad.

Everybody seems to want to run around doing stepovers and being a #10 without actually doing anything.

Edit: Also is Technical ability the new pace?
