No way will Klaassen be on the bench. I also think Koeman may continue with the 4321 formation he played at the back end of last season.

Pickford
Coleman Keane Willimams Baines
Gueye Schneiderlin Klaassen
Rooney Sigurdsson
Ramirez

Yeah, I think Klaassen will start too. I had him starting until I remembered Schneiderlin and quickly switched them. Not sure how they'll line up tbh. That system could work but it would limit them a lot against better teams imo.

EDIT: If he's going with that formation I think you can expect Giroud to sign. Can't rely solely on an unproven Ramirez up front. Also where's Barkley? Are you assuming he leaves? If he stays he starts

A fit Bolasie will be on the bench over this Wayne Rooney? Sure

Rooney won't be on the bench unless it's a midweek game or he's injured. He might not start as a striker but he'll be playing somewhere in that team

we sold Ronaldo for £80M ffs

I like Gylfi but what does he do apart from a good free kick?

He does a lot more than that. He's a great player. Not sure why things didn't go better for him at Spurs but that was his level imo. Great passer. 9 goals and 13 assists puts our attackers last season to shame. Don't know what else you could expect from him. He scores and creates goals and he did so in a pretty terrible team.

I think he'd really make that Everton team very strong. If any of the top 6 slip up I could see Everton taking a spot and getting 6th or maybe even 5th. I've a feeling Wayne will actually do well for them too. He won't match Lukaku's goals but I could see him getting around 15 goals. The rest of their team is greatly improved on last season with their signings. Coleman will be a big loss for start of season though and they have a tough opening set of fixtures. Still, this would probably be their starting lineup when everyone is fit:

Pickford

Coleman Keane Williams Baines

Gueye Schneiderlin

Barkley Sigurdsson Ramirez

Rooney

Bench: Stekelenburg, Holgate, Funes Mori, Klaassen, Davies, Bolasie, Mirallas

EDIT: Forgot Schneiderlin first time. Also, Giroud would be a great buy if they were to get him.

Fair play to them, they're building a proper solid squad there; Lookman is another lively young forward that they've invested in.

Sigurdsson is a weird one though; Klassen is best with a licence to bomb forward from midfield, but that's Gylfi's default position too, and at this point you'd probably also say Rooney's.....Davies could also do a job there.

Im shocked they're not prioritising another direct, pact winger with goals in him to be honest; that team is incredibly mono-paced. Walcott and Giroud for about £40m would make sense for them.

He had a very good first year at Real.

I'll always be grateful for his fabulous assist for Ronaldo against the Scousers at Anfield.

He also didn't start being a good player at the World Cup. He'd already had like a £40m transfer by then, or whatever Monaco paid for him (think it was more even).
That was a dodgy transfer simply to screw Sporting over Moutinho.

James wasn't worth anything like that then.

Wonder if Koeman will bring in any more Dutch players with the connections he undoubtedly has in his native country. I also wonder how his connection with Barça is these days to take any of their youth players on loan etc.

Fabulous based on what? His performance for Colombia 4 years ago? The same player that if doesn't move from Madrid now, is in jeopardy of not making the WC squad this time? Signed a 6 year deal and now needs to force a move?

He hasn't shown growth Madrid.

No, he's not a fabulous footballer. He's a 25 year old that had potential 4 years ago that hasn't developed. Worth a punt? Perhaps. But not at the price Madrid wants.

He is actually a fabulous footballer.

I agree the price is key though. Wouldn't want us to break bank for him especially if the money is going to Madrid.

I think we can all agree his growth has stalled at Madrid. Whether you think he's worth a shot at £50m or not. I'd say no, based both on that price, and the fact that he has no role in Jose's starting XI setup, either in a 352 or 433.

If we played a 4231 with a #10 role, I might change my mind. But even when we play 4231, it's w/o a #10 with a 3 man midfield. But then I'd remember we have Mata and Mikhi already, along with a developmental Perieria.

I just don't see a spot for James at United and he won't be a player satisfied with warming the bench with 2018 WC closing in and the Colombian manager already making noises that James needs to play reguarly to earn a spot at next summer's tournament.

Jose always loves his number 10. In every club he has managed, he has always had or bought a number 10 and he has clear specs for his preferred ones.

It is almost certain he will use a number 10 next season. The questions are:

Is he ready to trust Mikhi or Mata or Lingard for the role?

Does he prefer to get someone else and if he does, what's his plan for Mikhi, Mata and Lingard?

I am not sure anyone he has not spoken to directly, can confidently answer that question.

we sold Ronaldo for £80M ffs

I like Gylfi but what does he do apart from a good free kick?

That was 8 years ago now though. 8 years ago, you got £50 million for winning the league, last season Sunderland got near £100 mil for finishing bottom.

Centre backs still shaky and no new left back. They need three positions filled at the back, not just right back.

I think Pep is trying to sort out the defence. The goalkeeper move was brilliant and some more defenders are being linked to City apart from Alves. Nevertheless, we have seen teams with shaky defences win titles if they are deadly enough going forward.
