How good is he?

For me he's very good; would be a higher profile prospect except he tore his ACL. Made a full recovery and was back to his best last season though. Very versatile, can play at CB or RB-I'd expect him to maybe be Chelsea's starting RWB next season, especially if Sandro is at LWB because Conte will want an outlet on goal kicks and Rudiger is a tank (6'3"). He reminds me a bit of Marcos Alonso but taller and faster, definitely not as good going forward but for sure better defensively, especially 1v1.

That came a bit out of nowhere. He's probably a bit better than Zouma but I wouldn't have thought he improves the first team a great deal.

So nothing like him

Yeah mainly the reason and we got nothing special in the u18's bar Tuanzebe and Williams imo.
Neither Tuanzebe or Williams are u18s and if you really think there's nothing special in the u18s then you haven't been paying attention. For a bit of context Willock is the same age group as Tuanzebe, Rashford and Fosu Mensah and wasn't even particularly impressive in the u23s league last season so to claim he'd walk in and instantly be the best u18/21 player is a strange statement to make

Wasn't Zouma touted as the next best thing??
Unfortunately, he's basically the opposite of Conte's preference for technical, ball playing CB's. Very clumsy and pretty uncomfortable on the ball.

Not sure what the plan is for Rüdiger. For the £30m or whatever we're paying you'd expect him to start, surely? But is he really that much of an improvement on Cahill? Not sure. Not sure he makes sense as a RWB either.

Matt Law of the Telegraph says that signing Rüdiger doesn't necessarily mean we won't also buy another CB.

The Mendes effect.

For anyone who doesn't know. Wolves were bought out by Chinese owners in the last year and their sporting director is basically Jorge Mendes.
Always good to see Wolves doing well. Such a fantastic club name.

That doesn't sound like Rüdiger at all though. He is physically very strong and I think he will be a good fit for the Premier League, but he isn't exactly a ball playing CB.

Yeah, it's a bit of a strange signing. But after all of us were puzzled when we signed Marcos Alonso last summer and he turned out great I suppose I'll trust Conte to slot him in somewhere. Not sure where. Apparently Rüdiger is most comfortable on the right side of defense where we obviously have Azpi who must start.

Darmian mentioned as possible cash plus player swap for Perisic. Inter waiting for United to make the first move.

"Monaco's French left-back Benjamin Mendy is determined to join Manchester City.

Despite Liverpool's long-standing interest and Chelsea's relaunch, Benjamin Mendy said yes to Manchester City. A desire to join the Citizens, which he told the clubs concerned and which he explained in recent hours to the Monegasque leaders and his coach Leonardo Jardim."

Having already agreed personal terms with Sampadoria, Wesley Sneijder is scheduled to meet with Galatasaray officials on Tuesday to discuss terminating his contract.

Unbelievable that this is still dragging on, either pay up to get him or fecking move on already. This makes Woodward look bad more than paying a high fee, we just have to accept that we'll be overpaying for almost any player we go after.

Inter looking to offload Gary Medel, with Trabzonspor, CSKA Moscow, and Boca Juniors listed as possible destinations.

Ake out + Rudiger in seems an upgrade to me: with playing 3 at back you surely need at least five reliable CBs?

They really need to give Christensen a proper chance to establish himself in the team imo. Not many better CB talents around.

Indeed. I think him, Zouma and Ake are all top talents tbh. And Aina is almost unbeatable 1v1 at youth level at least.

Hope so.

I would definitely prefer we keep Darmian. If Perisic wants to join us he can end the squabbling and force Inter's hand to sell.

You started seeing how Conte works last year, he is all for winning and talent must be instrumental to that. Youngsters do not stand a chance as youngsters, they are ready or not.

i think you'll sell alex sandro to them too, do you agree?

If you ask me now, I would say not, their first offer was not enough both for Juve as a fee and the player as a wage. The window is very long though and the more we move towards new season, the more Conte will go mad for signings.

Thanks for the info, last time I saw Rüdiger he wasn't all that technical? Seems strange but I guess the Chelsea model of loaning and selling works in a way.

He can play RB, which is a big deal too. Conte more than likely looking at killing two birds with one stone. He has pace and physicality, ideal for RWB, or he can also play at CB. I have trust Conte's team will get him playing even better with the ball at his feet. Zouma is a lost cause in that respect, he is just terrible at playing the ball out.

That should open the door for Gladbach again. They already said, if Chelsea goes shopping, they´ll make another bid later in the summer. Christensen wanted to stay anyway.

You know, recent years have shown that you need an exceptional team plus one transcendent player to make the difference on fine margins and win the CL. Given that you can't lure out or replicate Messi or Ronaldo, the game becomes finding the next transcendent player that will make a difference on top of an exceptional team. May Morata be one? Can't say yet but fully developed Pogba + Morata would be as good as any other couple of stars out there.
