Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

I'm so disappointed that we aren't signing an average and majorly overpriced defensive winger.

Journalists eh? Actually getting paid to right utter tripe.
More game time for Jesse? Eh? Of course we still have Ashley, when he's actually gets fit of course.

2013 summer was awful. All the talk of Kroos, Fabregas, Muller, Bale, Ronaldo none of which I had faith in happening and then got excited and was pleasantly surprised with Herrera as I'd kept an eye on him at Athletic Club only for Moyes to pull out and get Fellaini at the last minute.

Summers under LVG were usually pretty grim too (Shaw and Herrera already done before he started making "his" buys), all the faffing around and not pulling the trigger and leaving things late. Jose was swift last summer and I'm hoping it will be like that this summer as in get all the deals done in July.
At least there was talk though. Ok, ultimately we got sod all but at least there were a few juicy rumours. This year Griezmann has killed the muppet atmos

It's up to Jose atm. Ed should contact him to see if he badly needs Perisic so we pay the whole price or move to the replacement.

Perfectly fine if Inter wants to go that route (i.e. other player sales). Their valuation for him was bonkers and we made a more than reasonable offer. Yeah, maybe we low-balled them a bit knowing they were under FFP pressure, but then everyone tends to increase their asking price when United are sniffing around.

Now lets see who else is on the list.

Well in fairness mate, you're not manchester united, so your feelings about it are pretty irrelevant. If the club wanted him and won't get him then yeah, that is disappointment for united.

I'm not Manchester United?? My whole life has been one big lie :(

Oh dear God that's depressing :(
I don't mind Perisic but not at that price. I hope we have another player in mind. If it is the next option down from Perisic then that selling club will now know we are getting desperate. They might have to come up with someone not already thought of.

I actually think we will see a resurgence from them over the next couple of years, they seem to be making decent initial moves with the new found money.....Borini is a strange one though
With signings like Borini it will take a while.

They have had a good summer so far. Ricardo Rodriguez, Musacchio, Andre Silva and Kessie. Add their current players like Romagnoli, Bonaventura, Locatelli and Donarumma and in a few years you've got yourself a decent team.
Just decent but I don't see them on top of Italian football in any near future.

I see Perišić is still being called a defensive winger.

In all truth I don't really know anything about Perisic outside of the comments on here and a few compilation videos.

He's a 28 year old player that has flown completely under my radar.

We really are going to struggle again next season if we are relying on our current wingers.

So because their finances aren't in order, you fine them? Wouldn't a more appropriate punishment be omission from CL or Europa?

I was thinking the same. Ironically 2 teams that have been punished have somehow hindered United's transfe business more than the retrospective clubs.

I think he would be perfect for us but not for £40m.

If he's perfect for us, then we should pay what they want. But he isn't, he's 20 million euro player. Which you usually can get squad player in 2017. I hope he is not coming, better to give chance to Martial or buy some better player. Martial is at least as talented as Perisic.

Would be very odd of both Walker and Alves go to City
I think Walker wants to move back up north more than anything (along with the increased paycheque). Besides, Alves will probably be there for two seasons at most.

Isn't like they're in either competition to be fair. But yeah, when PSG and City failed, they just had to pay a fine too.

Martial is talented, but as someone said he is not doing the job Jose wants. He needs to pull himself together and at least perform as well as his first season, actually better than that. Otherwise that is more money down the drain.

Inter are at the shenanigans, in my view, with this buying a player next season-selling a player last season nonsense.

I also don't think we're trying to get Perisic 'half-price'.

Additionally, I'm not sure a €7million fine is that much of a punishment especially if they'd rather take the hit than sell a particular player.

If we dont go into the preseason tour with a new LM/LW, CDM and ST then we are fecked. Because anyone that comes after will be a plan C or D, or players we didnt really want.
The world doesn't work like that.

Not really. Second choice players can turn out to better better options than first choice ones, in the same way that first choice players can turn out to be complete flops.

Plus not every signing that happens after X date is necessarily second choice. Some signings take longer than others, some depend on other signings happening first, some depend on other deals not happening at all.

I'm beginning to worry and I know that's ridiculous.

We need a lot of new players.
