Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

Isn't it a bit weird that Dortmund are happy to see the back of him, that Real have dropped their long standing interest and that no other big clubs are interested?
Exactly. Why would you want to sell your top scorer and leave yourself even further behind Bayern? There is something not right with him personality wise. That is all I can think of. Actually he would suit Liverpool down to the ground.

Real never was interested, it was him that spoke about Real all the time. I imagine Dortmund dont want a player not wanting to play for them. Most top clubs are not in need of another expensive striker and have a better target in mind (Lukaku, Morata, Mbappe, Lacazette...) Him being a bit older than the rest and openly talking about his Real love put a lot of clubs off in my opinion. He is a good striker, but he doesnt suit every club on top of it

If we had just signed him for 43m and just watched his you tube compilation we would be going all overboard on this one.

Looking forward to him having some game time next season.

It was from BBC, said Southampton have told Liverpool to pay £70m if they want Van Dijk. Looks like it has been deleted now.

i think they deleted it because they didn't put "gossip" in the tweet. The actual story about Van Dijk was from the sunday express, yet the tweet made it look like it was a BBC story.

I'm not sure thats enough to take such a view, although I'm not even saying he is going to be a superstar, but I would say you should probably watch him more than only a few times.

His movement in and around the box is special for someone his age, he also very strong with his back to goal and is able to fight with the CBs, thats also unusual for his age too.

Everyone loses the ball dribbling past defenders, Martial and Rashford included.

But mate, my post was for people going gaga over him and calling him the next superstar.
I have not denied he will be a good striker. I feel he might be a good one, but certainly not the next big thing.
My point is that people are creating hype by calling him the next Brazilian Ronaldo and Thierry Henry. Also I said he doesn't deserve the 100 odd million clubs are offering for him. 70m euros at the most.

As for Rashford and Martial, they are neither going to be superstars nor are they worth more than 50m euros :)
So the comparison is not valid.

£140k a week in this market for the most sought after player in world football? They might as well have put him on the transfer list.
140K a week is insane money for an 18 year old. He could have 2 new contracts before his 21th birthday, imagine what he would be demanding then if he gets 140 thousand now as an 18 year old with 8 months experience of first team football.

Considering Ronaldo and Messi are on something like 600k a week, it's not difficult to imagine.

His age is irrelevant. Also, two words...Jesse Lingard

Probably a lot more, which is perfectly fair if he continues to develop. Ronaldo supposedly earns twice this, several premier league players earn over 200k per week...

It's not. A younger player has more contracts ahead of him and will expect a pay rise with every new contract. If you start of with giving a really young player this kind of money the costs could easily spiral out control. Just look at Barca, they are really struggling financially because of the wages they pay to their top earners.

It will only spiral out of control if clubs offer him the money. Barca's woes are of their own making. No doubt any move would involve long term deals so clubs are under no obligation to improve it every year. If he signs a 5 year deal, there's no reason to increase his salary before he is 21. And of course, he still has to prove himself consistently over many seasons, which I'm sure he will...but many haven't.

They'd be crazy to walk away from that. He'd fit in perfectly at United. Linking up well with Pogba and Mkhi. We should be in for him at that price. Better than Morata.

If Liverpool don't do a deal if this is true, then it just shows where they're at. I'd be fuming as a Liverpool fan if they didn't cough up. Then again, they reportedly offered 90m for Mbappe.
I agree but Mourinho doesn't or woody would of been all over this like a rash already.

I think his love sick comments about wanting nobody but Real Madrid has put people off of him otherwise why wouldn't any of the top 10 teams in Europe be in for him?

It wasn't a verified Account. Surely a respected BT reporter would have a Verified Account.

I'd like to think genuine BT Sports reporters aren't repeatedly tweeting about Love Island, claiming to have broken news a week before some other journalist or tweeting things like 'Man City will complete a signing today' without giving any other details, only for no signing to have been completed that day or even in the days following.

Those of you who believed that 'BT Sport reporter' have been taken in by one of those most obvious Twitter attention seekers out there.

Seventy million for a fecking left back, why not? What price Paolo Maldini in today's market? Or Bertie Carlos?
He'll play as a wing back which mitigates the price just a little, but yeah. These fees are the future, man.
