The transfer contract of Diego Costa from Chelsea to Atletico was ready for the signing for an amount close to 45 million euros. If Costa did not initialize it, according to people close to the negotiation, it was only due to the reticent stance of the Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui. The coach is reluctant to guarantee him a place in the final call if he stops competing until January, in compliance with FIFA's sanction of Atletico. The refusal of the coach to extend in advance a safe-conduct to Costa to travel to Russia in 2018 slowed the signing. Now from the player's environment they indicate that the transfer is "50%". Costa must risk. He has the same chances of joining Atlético this summer that he does not do it. Nor do they rule out being in Chelsea.
The precaution to avoid opening a file that could lead to another sanction has led Atletico Madrid to consult with FIFA the alternatives it handles in order to sign Costa and Vitolo, and then transfer them. Well quite a few top clubs were willing to spend big on Renato Sanches. That doesn't prove anything.

Like I said, let him make the move to any big club and people will see he's no more than a good striker. Definitely not the next superstar or the next Brazilian Ronaldo/Thierry Henry.

You'd think we'd be signing one midfielder but if José wants 2 then we might be interested in 2 of them. Nainggolan/Sanches play the same kind of role (although Nainggolan has been in a more offensive role last season) and Fabinho more covering defensive midfielder.

If we got him and Fabinho, our midfield on paper atleast will be one of the best in the world and right amongst CL contenders.

One bad year as a teenager does not ruin a career.
