Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

I can't hear it, but when is he on about us wasting a whole summer? Last season we got most of our transfers done before going on tour with Pogba only taking so long because he went on holiday right after the Euros.

Didn't listen to it but I imagine he means the Fellaini summer window. That's the only one that fit this line.

Talking about Woodwards & Moyes' first summer where we went on a wild goose chase by going after Ronaldo, Bale & Fabregas.

Ah okay. That was three summers ago. Bit weird to mention it now unless it has them talking about the Ronaldo stuff possibly distracting us again.

I thought Conte had fallen out with the club, now he's re-signing?

The noises constantly coming out of Chelsea always seem to be overly dramatic, and then nothing happens. Diego Costa has left the club twice a year since he joined. He's on the cusp of leaving again. He'll still be there Sept 1st, and tipped to leave again in January. He'll finish the season with them.

Conte will probably leave again next summer.

Yes. I'm assuming he is talking about Ronaldo. He said we will try to close the deal for Morata first and then see how Ronaldo's situation at Real unravels.

Splash the cash!

C. Ronaldo---Lewandowski---Mkhitaryan
----------Pogba-------Herrera
----------------Fabinho (yeah, we're not interested but it's not like Ronaldo or Lewa are realistic options)
Blind----Lindelof---Bailly---Valencia
-----------------De Gea---------------

Ah, what a summer that was. Champions again. Belief in Fergie. Hope. Then cautious optimism. Hope strangled. Wtf. Wholly underwhelming. Despair. Then Fallaini.

It was the worst summer of my life for whole host of reasons, not least because of Man Utd.

Is Klopp the new Wenger? There are far more pressing issues in your squad than wide forward.
There are but we definitely need another wide option with some pace. Losing Mane's speed seemed to make us far more predictable last season.

I think we should be aiming to sign a CB, a LB, a midfielder to be an alternative (or replacement) for Henderson and a striker. If we can sort out the defence then I think we'll improve next season so that should be the priority.

I'm wondering if we're signing Salah to play on the left, and if Klopp thinks he can convert Coutinho into an attacking midfielder playing in the positions Lallana and Wijnaldum occupied last season.

But this is what I'm talking about, that's four more positions to fill and if you're serious about staying in the top four, you're going to have to pay market prices for quality players. Do you think you'll fill those four positions with quality (which will surely cost £120m minimum (plus £35m for Salah). Do you think you've got that sort of money available or do you think they will try the money-ball route for those positions?

Liverpool fans in this forum were talking about having a 200m budget this summer a few weeks ago.

They've been talking about winning the league every summer too.

Well at the end of the season there was a lot of noise about FSG in the media and their willingness to give Klopp more money than any Liverpool manager has had to spend in one window. It sounded like they were going to give him the support needed to get his targets.

Based on what I've seen so far though I'd say they will probably screw it all up and we'll end up with cheaper alternatives that were third or fourth choice on Klopp's wish list. It's still early in the window so I'm not panicking yet, but I'm not all that optimistic following what happened with Van Dijk.

I know what we need though, which is quality additions in the positions I previously listed.

I always read this guy's name as "amoral", as in lacking any sort of moral decency :)

Probably not too far off, the amount of stuff these twitter lot peddle at times.

What's your issue with Amoyal? He's just the English editor for Di Marzio. And Di Marzio is as reliable as you will get with transfers short of the clubs announcing it themselves

Ronaldo must be serious about leaving, Perez would have laughed off the entire thing if this was nothing more than a play at a new contract
