Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

There's not even a remote reason as to why Griezmann would sign a new contract if he were set on leaving after the window. It's off.

With the release clause remaining the same(according to reports anyway), I think it's just Atletico's way of thanking him for staying through their ban. He gets increased salary too. Win-win for him.

Because he gives us that physical presence in the box that Morata doesnt. He is like a typical english centre forward to me.
Not sure about that he may be slightly stronger but he's only 5'11 and Morata 6'3 and does seem to score a lot of headers.

It would make no sense to sign a new contract with an increased buyout clause.

Now he gets more money for one year and the buyout clause stays the same. If no move materialises, he will still be on more money the next few years.

Surely it'll be closer to ogdens tweet.
He's helping AM out by staying on so why would they make it more difficult to leave next year?
Exactly, there's a not a chance he's going to voluntarily price himself out of a move in the future.

TalkSport doing the City v United window so far.. My head hurts.

Was listening to that. Wanted to phone in and give it to Durham but was stuck on the M4. He's such an idiot. He chose to ignore the fact that Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Spurs or pretty much anyone else hasn't done anything either. Just because City have signed two players we should be crapping ourselves. He's probably the biggest wum on radio.

Why?

Especially if the scenarios I mentioned do occur.

He's too much quality , which wont be added by any other player specialy young ones with top level attitude and goal scoring abilities against top defenses and defenders .

World cup year , so he'll be on his toes to perform on high levels.

No reason?

More money would be a fairly big one. Release clause stands.

As noted, more money would be one reason.

Another reason is - we don't know whats in the contract. If he was dead set on joining United before all this transfer rubbish, he might have a clause that lets United have him for a little lower than his release clause. Who knows.

But that doesn't another player wouldn't fit us more? Surely we consider all that before committing to a deal a year from now.

And world cup year or not, players do have dips in form.

The fact that Liverpool are making fools of themselves as well.

Sorry I got a bit over the top in the "it's off statement". Had assumed the new contract was without a buyout clause and didn't even think of the wage rise. I'l get my coat!

You've clearly never watched Morata. If there's one thing Morata offers it's a physical presence

La Liga don't allow their players to have no buyout clauses.

Is that true? Strange rule

It's actually not strange at all because like all workers sportsmen are free to work for whoever they want and they can break their contract without cause and without the consent of their employers but they will have to compensate their owner, in order to avoid unnecessary litigation, the LFP decided that the best way was to legally behind clubs and players to a clause.
