Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

We will ignore the left back situation this summer I reckon. Lindeloff, Morata, Perisic (feck it) and Fabinho I'm guessing.

Fabinho was free to leave last summer, Monaco aren't going to go back on their word, a price between 40m-60m will be enough. That's partially how they get the best young players, by keeping their promises.

That's a great club policy and genuinely refreshing to see in these modern days. No wonder many young players decide to join them.

Hope they can keep Mbappe there for at least another year. I think it will be better for his development also.

I would keep Darmian at that price. He proved himself a solid enough player in the second half of the season.

We shouldn't be keeping average players no matter what the price. This is why we are where we are...because we're happy to settle for mediocrity (Darmian, Smalling, Lingard, Carrick, Fellaini etc.), just because they can 'do a job'. We're never going to push on with that mentality. If we're wanting to get back to the levels of Bayern, Real etc., we need better players than the ones we have. I've got nothing against Darmian but he's not at the level we need to be pushing ahead.

Would rather we signed Fabinho for that price but I think N'Zonzi would be a great addition also. He's a very good player.

True. Fabinho is younger, more technically sound and can cover multiple positions as well.

Seems Juventus is in for both Fabinho and N'zonzi.

Fabinho would be a key signing for United. Far more dynamic than Matic in DM role

It was a huge problem for us last year and I'd be very surprised if Mourinho doesn't address it.

We will either buy a new LB or (and I'm increasingly thinking this is the case) he plans on playing a back 3.

Tell us if it is close or happening, i know myself that he would be a key signing. He is the perfect man to knit our defense and midfield together

According to the papers, the most reliable news so far is that we are in for 5 players this summer. At first, this list didn't seem to make any sense. But then, I started tinkering and realized that this would be the perfect list for Mourinho's system.

I feel, JM is going for this 433 formation –

Belotti
Perisic_________Morata

Pogba_______________Herrera
Fabinho

Shaw____Lindelof____Bailly____Valencia

DDG

It all makes sense because, we went in for Morata only after Griezmann pledged his loyalty to Atletico Madrid. Replace Morata with Griezmann in the above formation and we'll have the most formidable 433 lineup in the Europe.

We were never interested in dealing with Real Madrid, due to the bitterness involving DDG. But as a last minute gasp, we are being forced to go for Morata. And, Morata isn't a bad second-choice either. Mourinho developed the player at RM and he mostly deployed him as a dynamic attacker drifting in and around Ronaldo. So, he is fluid enough to holdup the play as well as make smart runs. Who knows, with enough desire, he might actually become better than Griezmann.

In Pogba and Herrera, we have the best shuttling-midfielders in the world. And, 433 is the only system which seems to bring the best out of Pogba. Given the age of Michael Carrick, we need a new holding-midfielder and after his impressive performances this season at Monaco, Fabinho fell into the radar. Fabinho is the surprise signing Mourinho spoke during the season as he wasn't on the radar until the last stages of UCL. In my opinion, Fabinho has a great game-awareness and is an impressive tackler. He seems like the best 'water carrier' at the moment.

We've created good number of chances last-season from the midfield. But, our main problem was that there wasn't a good bridge between midfield and attack. Our right flank was okay, partly due to the brilliance of Antonio Valencia. But, our left flank was very poor. We didn't have a solid full back on the left side and there was no one who could tirelessly convert defense into attack. We deployed Young, Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Mkhitaryan and Rooney on our left wing. But, they were either too absorbed defending or too tired to keep going at the defenders and completing the take-ons. That's why, we are going in for Perisic. Even though he has only 2 or 3 seasons left at his peak, he is lightning quick, tirelessly successful in take-ons and unashamed to trackback. I think he's been our No. 1 priority for the summer since Christmas.

We need a Target-man. Someone tall, strong, physical, fast with great anticipation and finishing. Trust me people, I've followed all the top scorers across the top 5 leagues in Europe. There's no one better than Belotti. He's a star in the making and he's a box-office finisher. He's got the physical presence of Ibrahimovic and the movement and pace of Chicharito. We'll be lucky to get him. People who keep wondering why we are buying two strikers when we already have Martial and Rashford, don't understand the importance of a Target-man, especially in Premier League.

And, Lindelof is an obvious choice. He is the best young CB around and Smalling has lost his hunger/drive in the game. We need to move on from him.

In Mata and Mkhitaryan we have decent creative midfielders and it'd help us to shift to 4231 in some tactical matches requiring to break deadlocks.

Romero, Fellaini, Blind, Rojo, Darmian, Carrick, Young are all good squad players and we definitely need them for rotation.

Rashford, Jones, Martial and Lingard are young and can improve with hard work. If they do so, they'll easily break into the first team. Else, they'll become backups and they are worthy enough backups.

Smalling and Rooney seem excess to the squad and I'd love to see them leave, making Herrera our new captain and DDG our new VC.

If all this happens, next season would be a dream at the Theatre of Dreams.

Great post. The only problem is Mkhitaryan not getting to start and Morata playing in an position which is not his natural position. Morata might take time to get used to that position, I would rather play him in his natural position as a #9. Maybe Belotti is a backup if the Morata deal falls through.

Someone give this man a like for obeying the rules!

Lol I mean if a crap source like Palmeri says we are interested then that means all the other reports saying we want both Morata and Belotti are bogus aswell.
I don't really get your point ?
The links of us to Belotti have been going around for a week at least. He is just confirming it's been only a contact, but not an official bid.
Why would other reports be bogus?

Ohh, I'd like us to get Moura if he's available. He's a proper RW!

Ye, with Morata as a target man up top, it'll be nice to see two direct wingers either side of him, who are capable of beating their man and whipping crosses in. Not sure we'll get two wingers, though.

If we sign Perisic, we will have Martial, Mkhitaryan, Perisic, Lingard and Rashford, who can all operate on the wings.

Having said that, Sir Bobby Robson said that we need 'a few flair players'. To me, Perisic - if that's who we are looking to sign, won't be enough, in my opinion.

At 30M euros, I would like to have Costa on the right and Perisic on the left.

But in that case what will happen to Martial, Mata, Mikhi?

I'd like us to sign Moura tbh. PSG has wingers galore at their disposal with Di Maria, Cuedes, Draxler, Moura and even Pastore can and has played on the wing for them.

Costa isn't a bad shout either and he's played on the right for Shakhtar and for Bayern under Pep.

He shouldn't be a starter but he's fine as a squad player, same goes for the other players you've listed. I'm not sure how fair it is to call them mediocre but we certainly wouldn't be able to attract much better for our bench.

If I were a Liverpool fan right now I'd be panicking, their backups for their backups don't even look like they wanna sign

I find the fact that they don't realise the futility of their agenda more frustrating than the erroneous nature of the argument itself. It's not as if the decision makers check the caf in order to get feedback or form an opinion on Jose.

They believe if they stick to their delusion that they will garner enough support to turn everyone against him. If there were any basis for the claim that "good/top" players don't sign for Jose then there would be merit in that opinion, however, the reality is completely different.
