Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

That's hardly a surprise. Not many technically gifted players are willing to play in a team that isn't possession oriented.

I've said it during the season and I'll say it again, no matter how big of a name Mourinho is in world football, his dull, defensive bus parking style gonna cost his some signings he wants to make.

The rumoured fees that Bayern want for Costa and Sanches make them fantastic value in today's market. Would be typically smart of Juventus to get involved.

According to the papers, the most reliable news so far is that we are in for 5 players this summer. At first, this list didn't seem to make any sense. But then, I started tinkering and realized that this would be the perfect list for Mourinho's system.

I feel, JM is going for this 433 formation –

Belotti
Perisic_________Morata

Pogba_______________Herrera
Fabinho

Shaw____Lindelof____Bailly____Valencia

DDG

It all makes sense because, we went in for Morata only after Griezmann pledged his loyalty to Atletico Madrid. Replace Morata with Griezmann in the above formation and we'll have the most formidable 433 lineup in the Europe.

We were never interested in dealing with Real Madrid, due to the bitterness involving DDG. But as a last minute gasp, we are being forced to go for Morata. And, Morata isn't a bad second-choice either. Mourinho developed the player at RM and he mostly deployed him as a dynamic attacker drifting in and around Ronaldo. So, he is fluid enough to holdup the play as well as make smart runs. Who knows, with enough desire, he might actually become better than Griezmann.

In Pogba and Herrera, we have the best shuttling-midfielders in the world. And, 433 is the only system which seems to bring the best out of Pogba. Given the age of Michael Carrick, we need a new holding-midfielder and after his impressive performances this season at Monaco, Fabinho fell into the radar. Fabinho is the surprise signing Mourinho spoke during the season as he wasn't on the radar until the last stages of UCL. In my opinion, Fabinho has a great game-awareness and is an impressive tackler. He seems like the best 'water carrier' at the moment.

We've created good number of chances last-season from the midfield. But, our main problem was that there wasn't a good bridge between midfield and attack. Our right flank was okay, partly due to the brilliance of Antonio Valencia. But, our left flank was very poor. We didn't have a solid full back on the left side and there was no one who could tirelessly convert defense into attack. We deployed Young, Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Mkhitaryan and Rooney on our left wing. But, they were either too absorbed defending or too tired to keep going at the defenders and completing the take-ons. That's why, we are going in for Perisic. Even though he has only 2 or 3 seasons left at his peak, he is lightning quick, tirelessly successful in take-ons and unashamed to trackback. I think he's been our No. 1 priority for the summer since Christmas.

We need a Target-man. Someone tall, strong, physical, fast with great anticipation and finishing. Trust me people, I've followed all the top scorers across the top 5 leagues in Europe. There's no one better than Belotti. He's a star in the making and he's a box-office finisher. He's got the physical presence of Ibrahimovic and the movement and pace of Chicharito. We'll be lucky to get him. People who keep wondering why we are buying two strikers when we already have Martial and Rashford, don't understand the importance of a Target-man, especially in Premier League.

And, Lindelof is an obvious choice. He is the best young CB around and Smalling has lost his hunger/drive in the game. We need to move on from him.

In Mata and Mkhitaryan we have decent creative midfielders and it'd help us to shift to 4231 in some tactical matches requiring to break deadlocks.

Romero, Fellaini, Blind, Rojo, Darmian, Carrick, Young are all good squad players and we definitely need them for rotation.

Rashford, Jones, Martial and Lingard are young and can improve with hard work. If they do so, they'll easily break into the first team. Else, they'll become backups and they are worthy enough backups.

Smalling and Rooney seem excess to the squad and I'd love to see them leave, making Herrera our new captain and DDG our new VC.

If all this happens, next season would be a dream at the Theatre of Dreams.

Good Post, but have to disagree with 2 points mentioned-
1. There is no way we'd be signing Belotti and Morata. Whoever we sign will be a #9, and it doesn't make sense to spend 70m-80m on a player and not play him in his natural postion
2. Lingad is 24. Not young anymore

Quote read to me as if its United who have an issue with Mendes

The same thing has been mentioned for Real Madrid in April-May. From what I understand and if the report is actually true it's a problem with Mendes, as long as Mendes stays away there will be no problem.

Does he have a clause? Why are Monaco selling so cheap when others are asking for a lot more for their players?
Contract running out? Not good enough? Any reason?

Fabinho was free to leave last summer, Monaco aren't going to go back on their word, a price between 40m-60m will be enough. That's partially how they get the best young players, by keeping their promises.

The beauty.

See rumour that might not be true at all from a questionable source.

Use that as confirmation bias for whatever views one needs to spout out. Agenda posting at its finest .

Can you point out the exact part of my post that isn't true?

I should be a football journalist.

You don't even need to write something believable.

PsG would never sell for 80 mil, probably wouldn't sell for double that.

It is no that impossible, there is reportedly a bit of tension between Verratti and the club. He has spent the entire season at talking about a move, through his agent.

Any word on the reliability of the Fabinho rumour?

Fichajes are not reliable
Fek off Liverpool, first Marković, then Grujić and now they're linked with Milanković-Savić and Tadić...Klopp is set on destroying all our NT talents.

Think the guy that started Di Maria to United is the same source for this. Hope it is bullshit, Sergej is someone we should get, perfect midfielder for us

Didn't we actually have quite high possession stats, especially at home, for most of the season? It was only in some big games towards the end when we limped over the line that he went completely Great Wall of China.

This is just one of those myths that get perpetuated by the media and L'Equipe are jumping on the band-wagon to generate clicks. It's lazy journalism. M'bappe isn't coming here because RM are willing to blow their load for him, not because of our manager.

Also, Pogba and Mkhi are players who favour possession football and they didn't have any qualms about joining us.

The article is complete BS.

Thought he had loads of offers. Guess not. His stock has fallen so low we're going to have to pay off his contract to get rid of him.

I don't want to be overly mean, but at that carrick testimonial he did not look out of place with a bunch of retired players. I felt so bad for him. :(

He should definitely look for a move this window.

We had for a short while albeit all against smaller clubs, from February onwards we were parking the bus left and right and not just against bigger clubs.

Regardless if that Mbappe rumor is true or not you gotta agree that some top players will certainly have their doubts about joining us after Mourinho's public criticism last year and because of his style of play, that's just how it is.

It's hard to say about them 2. Miki was nearing his prime and I reckon he wanted to play in the big club hence why he didn't want to sign a new contract with Dortmund. Plus UTD is a huge club, Mourinho is a big name, we pay massive salaries and EPL is the most competitive league.

Pogba was already here, wanted a new challenge, Mourinho, world record fee and 300k per week certainly played a role in landing him.

If they knew they gonna be playing some boring football and out of their position I'm not 100% sure they'd be so keen on joining.

Wouldn't mind seeing SMS in UTD shirt at all, he's got everything to become a top b2b MF.

And I'm not saying this just because he's Serb, kid's got real talent.
