Verratti will end up at either Barca or Juve. I don't think we are in the running for him at all.

Klopp approaching Monaco for Mbappe and being informed that Real, PSG, United and Arsenal are also interested:

something isn't right about this mbappe saga,if he is to be sold at €135m as reported, why try to create interest from arsenal and Liverpool...it feels like someone is trying to create a market for him and cause a superclub bidding war(exempting arsenal and Liverpool)...

Will either club pay the £100m it take?
Juve are as tight as they come and Barca struggle to balance their books with MSN.

Juve paid €90m for higuain last year and Barca paid £80m for Neymar 5 years ago so I think they will spend big if necessary.
I think we should attempt to outbid them for verratti, he is that good. Something tells me he might not be interested in us though.

I feel that a lot of clubs have inquired about him, this isn't a case of Monaco trying to drum up interest.
Besides after Madrid sell James they will have €140m and can afford him no problem

I remember when Chelsea crashed out of the Champions-League and Verratti was filmed during the game laughing and pointing the finger at Mourinho. Mourinho won't go for him (IMO), he already has Pogba.

Not necessarily. Depends what that player wants. If Liverpool can offer the player more games, then they probably would prefer to go, unless they're all about money. To add to that, Liverpool, along with the other two, can offer them CL football and a chance to play in arguably the best league in the world.
Well, technically they haven't qualified yet.

I think thats wrong. He laughed at the player who scored the goal

That never happened to be fair. The video clearly shows he's pointing at his team mates after PSG scored. A photo taken out of context.

Quote read to me as if its United who have an issue with Mendes

JPRouve mentioned in another post that it's Mbappe and his family who have a problem with Mendes. He wants to sign him up, but his family want nothing to do with Mendes. Makes sense if they want to stay away from him, with Mendes's close ties to Woody, Mourinho and Monaco

Juventus aren't that tight. Higuain.

Yeah they spent a large chunk of the Pogba money on Higuain, but as a whole, they are generally quite tight. I fully expect United to be be easily able to outbid Juve, it all depends on the players preferred destination though.

Barca spent big on Neymar 5 years ago, and like I said if they are to keep MSN on their books, I don't think they will be able to add £100m and £150-200k per week for Verratti, considering they need to add quite a few other players to their squad.

Barca are hurting a lot for money from what I've read in newspapers and stuff. They're trying to increase their stadium size (right?) and then they've had a fair few flops as of recently (Turan, the right back named Vidal or something, and Lucas Silva or whatever from last season).

Not to mention Neymar and Messi both keep edging for new contracts every six months to make more.

Barca will get the player if he wants to go there, but if it's actually down to finances, Juve, Bayern, PSG, Madrid, and City are far more powerful (along with us)

Hope we're in for him - could be the successor to Scholes. Push comes to shove, wouldn't mind United blowing the Griezmann budget + change on Verratti - he can be a bigger presence for the team's overall structure and rhythm of play from the center of the pitch than Antoine. Perfect Kroos/Modrić-esque kapellmeister, and probably the best for the next 7-8 years after Thiago. A fully developed Pogba-Verratti tandem would be monstrous - and European Cup worthy.

As much as it would hurt me, logically speaking a move to Arsenal or Liverpool would be great for Mbappe's progression. He will get to play regularly in a tougher league for a mostly attacking team. Say for example Monaco sell him to Arsenal for 100m and stick a sell on clause for 20%. Then Mbappe himself also requests a clause in his contract saying something like only Madrid/Barcelona can get him for a set price of 100m minimum. Monaco would then be able to fetch a nearly guaranteed 120m+ from both transfers and Mbappe gets to progress before moving to his 'dream' team as a finished article or close to it.

Thats how I would be selling it to Monaco and Mbappe if I was Wenger or Klopp.

£40m for Fabinho would be a good deal

Does he have a clause? Why are Monaco selling so cheap when others are asking for a lot more for their players?
Contract running out? Not good enough? Any reason?

We really should be outbidding these 2 just to see what happens if he's available.

If we're getting Fabinho for 40 on top of Lindelöf for 35 then we can safely say Woodward is doing an excellent job

What happened to the City rumours? I'd love it if we nicked him from right under their noses, love it.

EDIT - 10 goals in 48 games for a DM is pretty good going.

Some journo close to city denied that city will go for him. In fact, he seems to be linked to no one at present.

If Verratti has any interest in playing for us I'd hope we would push the boat right out to sign him. Blow the Griezmann budget.... Whatever it takes. His control of the central midfield is something that could lead us to the very top. The only issue is his does he want to play for United?

In todays market, those are excellent prices. The only one player seem to be getting rinsed for is Perisic.... Who incidentally is the one player I was hoping we weren't interested in.

Verratti surely had offers from all the big clubs over the years and every time rumours surfaced he might leave it turned out he was just haggling for a better deal. Not convinced it's different this time, but I can't seem to remember him ever actually "asking to leave" in a personal meeting with the Sporting Director. Either he widened his repertoire of threats or he really means it this time. If so United should be all over him. L'Équipe says there's only Barca and Bayern officially interested. I guess all others got turned down by his agent and he'll either stay at PSG or leave for one of those clubs.

According to the papers, the most reliable news so far is that we are in for 5 players this summer. At first, this list didn't seem to make any sense. But then, I started tinkering and realized that this would be the perfect list for Mourinho's system.

I feel, JM is going for this 433 formation –

Belotti
Perisic_________Morata

Pogba_______________Herrera
Fabinho

Shaw____Lindelof____Bailly____Valencia

DDG

It all makes sense because, we went in for Morata only after Griezmann pledged his loyalty to Atletico Madrid. Replace Morata with Griezmann in the above formation and we'll have the most formidable 433 lineup in the Europe.

We were never interested in dealing with Real Madrid, due to the bitterness involving DDG. But as a last minute gasp, we are being forced to go for Morata. And, Morata isn't a bad second-choice either. Mourinho developed the player at RM and he mostly deployed him as a dynamic attacker drifting in and around Ronaldo. So, he is fluid enough to holdup the play as well as make smart runs. Who knows, with enough desire, he might actually become better than Griezmann.

In Pogba and Herrera, we have the best shuttling-midfielders in the world. And, 433 is the only system which seems to bring the best out of Pogba. Given the age of Michael Carrick, we need a new holding-midfielder and after his impressive performances this season at Monaco, Fabinho fell into the radar. Fabinho is the surprise signing Mourinho spoke during the season as he wasn't on the radar until the last stages of UCL. In my opinion, Fabinho has a great game-awareness and is an impressive tackler. He seems like the best 'water carrier' at the moment.

We've created good number of chances last-season from the midfield. But, our main problem was that there wasn't a good bridge between midfield and attack. Our right flank was okay, partly due to the brilliance of Antonio Valencia. But, our left flank was very poor. We didn't have a solid full back on the left side and there was no one who could tirelessly convert defense into attack. We deployed Young, Martial, Lingard, Rashford, Mkhitaryan and Rooney on our left wing. But, they were either too absorbed defending or too tired to keep going at the defenders and completing the take-ons. That's why, we are going in for Perisic. Even though he has only 2 or 3 seasons left at his peak, he is lightning quick, tirelessly successful in take-ons and unashamed to trackback. I think he's been our No. 1 priority for the summer since Christmas.

We need a Target-man. Someone tall, strong, physical, fast with great anticipation and finishing. Trust me people, I've followed all the top scorers across the top 5 leagues in Europe. There's no one better than Belotti. He's a star in the making and he's a box-office finisher. He's got the physical presence of Ibrahimovic and the movement and pace of Chicharito. We'll be lucky to get him. People who keep wondering why we are buying two strikers when we already have Martial and Rashford, don't understand the importance of a Target-man, especially in Premier League.

And, Lindelof is an obvious choice. He is the best young CB around and Smalling has lost his hunger/drive in the game. We need to move on from him.

In Mata and Mkhitaryan we have decent creative midfielders and it'd help us to shift to 4231 in some tactical matches requiring to break deadlocks.

Romero, Fellaini, Blind, Rojo, Darmian, Carrick, Young are all good squad players and we definitely need them for rotation.

Rashford, Jones, Martial and Lingard are young and can improve with hard work. If they do so, they'll easily break into the first team. Else, they'll become backups and they are worthy enough backups.

Smalling and Rooney seem excess to the squad and I'd love to see them leave, making Herrera our new captain and DDG our new VC.

If all this happens, next season would be a dream at the Theatre of Dreams.
