I do not share your pessimism.

I wouldn't call it pessimism. More like being realistic. It's not like I expect us to have a terrible season or regress horribly. I expect us to improve but not so much as to win the title if our rumored signings come to fruition.
But hey I hope I'm proven wrong and we do end up winning the title, it's just that I wouldn't be disappointed or distraught if we don't, as long as we keep on steadily improving.

Yeah that was the only other player I could think of but as far as reports went I think only we(apart from City) were interested in him.
Not seen Walker or Dier linked to more than 1 or 2 clubs. Keane on the other hand... That said, don't think Keane would need much convincing so it is a strange one.
I find it hard to believe that a top manager would be foolish enough to actually send that kind of text messages directly to a player. That would be pretty solid evidence for tapping up. I'm sure there are more secured ways of letting a player know that he is wanted.
Manager could tell someone trusted to pass the message to players' agent or directly to him.
Then again it wouldn't be the first time.
We hold our money in different currencies and the club coming up to the transfer window with a general election they would have thought of this.

I have read in several places that Morata really wants Prem League football over other leagues.
He isn't stupid. He knows Serie A is a bit crap and that he won't get enough game time at Real.

Which currencies you hold and hedging against fluctuations is standard money management for an enterprise like MU.
Whatever you do though, long term shifts can have a significant impact (pound used to be 2-1 before the financial crisis, then 1.5/1.6, now 1.2/1.3 post- Brexit).
What matters there is the exposure (denomination of revenue streams vs. costs). Based on zero analysis of accounts my gut is it may even benefit us overall and certainly benefits us in relative terms vis-a-vis other PL clubs.
Confident we'll sign Lindelof and Morata, hopeful on either Fabinho or Nainggolan will follow too.
Actually, it should make the domestic market more attractive for all, including European clubs. The difference would evaporate anyway.
Upside is it is now cheaper for Bayern to match the £ wages offered to Sanchez by PL clubs.
