We will need 2 strikers if Zlatan is leaving.
Superman Rooney will be back as striker ;)

If we're buying Perisic, it could mean Martial and Rashford are both only going to play as strikers as. 3 should be enough I suppose.

Wouldn't be comfortable with that. Rashford and Martial didn't get us enough goals last season. Why will that change next season?

From the looks of things Rashford will be 2nd choice striker and Martial 2nd choice left sided forward.

Its likely that we are in for a striker and left sided attacker, as well as a midfielder and defender.

I think that is what is the sensible thing to do, make players like Rashford, Martial, Lingard, Fellaini less important in the team. Rashfrod and Martial are still developing and Lingard and Fellaini are squad players at best.

# Primepagine -80 million from # ManchesterUnited # Torino "to Badr." Milan without brakes, even # DiegoCosta "http: // gianlucadimarzio.com/it/prime-pagin e-turin-80-million-per-belotti-milan-no-brakes-too-diego-costa ...

If Di Marzio is saying we are in for Belotti, then I will believe it for now... He was very ITK about the Darmian transfer, who also played for Torino....

He didn't. He's reporting the Tuttosport article.

Manchester City have bought Hirving "Chucky" Lozano and will loan him for 2 years to PSV

Not a bad idea buying up as much young talent as possible and loaning them out tbh, could pay off when average players start going for 100mil.

Will be sold in a couple of years without playing a single minute for City just like Aaron Mooy.

Did Mooy no harm, did it?
Anyhow, there's a chance that he'll take Delph's place in the City squad for next season.

The deal worked out for Mooy, yeah. My point is it's weird to be signing for a club that you're probably never going to actually play for.

I'm not having a go at this transfer strategy as it's actually a pretty smart one for making a profit in the long run.

Would love Perisic and Morata in this window. Plus Fabinho and Lindeloff and we are set.

All four would be improvements to our squad but I do not think it would give us enough to win the league and certainly not the CL. But I would not be unhappy if this was all the business we did as we also welcome back Pereira after a good loan spell and have the emergence of Tuanzebe.

For me as long as Young, Rooney and one of Jones/Smalling are sold I will be happy. Also less game time for Lingard is always a bonus.

There's nothing we can do in this transfer window that would improve us enough to win the CL. But if we improve enough to challenge for the title that's good enough.

Yeah it's a bit strange almost acting as intermediaries but if everyone comes out as a winner then I suppose all is good.
We also get to see the player in action over an extended period of time, getting inside reports as to their attitude and coachability before deciding whether to stick or twist.
We recently did this with the Turkish striker Unal who now is with Villareal, City having made a good profit and a buyback option if he turns out to be a star.

How do you know that Jose has already decided on Morata? The fact is that only Woodward and Jose know who they have identified as targets. If I was Jose I would go for Aubameyang but I'm not Jose. I haven't seen Morata or Aubameyang play, but I saw the statistics. Aubameyang has done well in a league which is much more competitive than Serie A (where Morata got 12 goals) or La Liga IMO. You might have seen more of these 2 players than me.

Well, because we have submitted a bid for him? When Morata was in Serie A, he was just starting out, only 21/22. Looking at Auba's stats at the same age, he scored about the same amount of goals for St Etienne. If you have seen the stats, their goals per min ratio this season is similar too. As mentioned, Morata's advantage, bar goals scored, is experience in big games for big clubs, prior working relationship with Jose, and higher ceiling for improvement. He also has more to prove to cement his place as Spain's first choice striker.

I really don't think there's any chance that signing Morata, Perisic, Fabinho and Lindelof are going to get us anywhere near the title. All 4 would be good signings to supplement an already capable squad, but our squad at the moment is nowhere near title winning quality. Add to that the fact that our top goalscorer from this season won't be there next season I think we would struggle to get anywhere near the title if we sign only these 4 players.

But then we have to take into account who realistically is available and in all honesty there's not much that would really elevate us to title winning quality. So unless we pull out a pleasant surprise in the transfer window we fans should try to rein in our expectations for next season and try to get behind the players and see where it gets us. Hopefully we make some progress from this past season and see where it leads us in the future.
