People seem to miss the point in signing Morata - he is a Jose type CF. Players like Aubamayang and Lacazette aren't.

We have players who will get in behind Morata, to feed him. Yum yum yum.

Look at the bigger picture.

Are you for real?

He scored 15 league goals this season whilst being a backup player.

Welbeck has scored 38 league goals in...a decade

How about the Spanish Emile Heskey then? He had one good season at Liverpool where he probably touched 13-16 league goals.

Spain's Welbeck. How can you underestimate Morata so much?

While Morata is better than Welbeck without a doubt, I can see the comparison. Morata is more about his overall game than about his goalscoring. The season at Real was the first season where he scored 10+ goals in the league. He scored 7 in 34 and 8 in 29 in his 2 years at Juve. And we are less dominant and worse in attack than them. I don't think Morata will be a flop but I am not sure he will solve much of our problems. Real are scoring for fun, Chicha scored about 10 goals there too when he barely played 2,3 years ago I think. Even Welbeck would put up some numbers if he could play there a season.

Based on what exactly? He's never managed more than the 20 goals he got this season and that was playing against far worse and less organised defences than he will be facing in the Premier League. He didn't score against any of the top 4 in La Liga either.

He's scored against Barcelona and Real Madrid. And he's scored against the fourth placed team Sevilla. So obviously that's not correct.

Well, he didn't play against them either, except 60 minutes vs Sevilla, if I'm not mistaken.

While that's fair enough, my point was moreso that though his numbers look good that they came against weak defences in general. Though I'm sure if he played enough games against good defences he would score a few, I haven't seen anything from him to suggest he could score against good defences consistently. I consider Italian defences to be far more similar to the type of defending he would be facing in the Premier League and his numbers in that league are pretty average even though I appreciate he did contribute in other ways.

And therein lies the problem. He mostly played the dead rubbers. Most strikers would fill their boots in those playing for Real.

Ok fair enough. But he has scored against top teams in the past. It's not likely he's never done played at that level.

Yeah I know, my point was moreso to explain his scoring numbers for this season which seem to be the argument of most for why he could be a good signing. His numbers per game look good but they all came against quite poor defences. While I'm sure he could score against better defences every now and then (hell Benteke can do that), my main concern is that he won't be able to do so consistently and that is what we really need, as is clear by the number of chances we missed last season.

I dont think that its a coincidence that all threes favourite Disney movie is Bambi.
None of them are world class film critics.

If you disagree with Fergie about football, fair enough. If you disagree with Fergie and Wenger about football, that's a bit weird, but okay. If you disagree with Fergie and Wenger and Mourinho about football, you're almost certainly in the wrong.

Thats funny because he never was/is a starter for any of them. Morata is no Welbeck he is a far better player.

I wouldn't worry about his numbers. The quality of his goals is pretty good. We will likely build the team around him which should help.

He can also play down either wing so that versatility is beneficial.

Shambolic from Liverpool, now backing away with their tail between their legs. I hope Lazio up their asking price for de Vrij knowing what Liverpool were willing to pay for van Dijk.

He proved his big game credentials at Juve, the problem was whether he could be a consistent goalscorer. He hasn't started many games but he has been consistent when he's got the chance this season.

 They never fail to disappoint

Didn't I see somewhere on the forum that a pool fan was discussing him as if he had signed and where they will be next season. I was listening to talk sport yesterday and some absolute sycophant "transfer market" expert was already gushing on about "he is the key for them and they will win this and that next season".

Missed that but apparently by some of their supporters he is shit now and it would be stupid move anyway

It's a bit weird that there is no exciting name for United at all, Morata or James are definitely not that exciting, Griezmann is gone and Bale is not coming. Now what? What a weird mercato...

Jesus, the prices are going up by another 30% or so this year.

I'm guessing you're very happy with Fellaini and Carrick staying on next season?

-----------Jesus
Sane--De Brunye--Sanchez
-----B. Silva----shiny new midfielder

With Aguero, David Silva and Sterling on the bench.

Could be a host of reasons, money, Pep, money, Prem, money...
Umm... B. Silva is a winger; sticking him in as a central midfielder would be ridiculous.
