Transfer Tweets - Summer 2017 | Keep it on topic

So do we call this transfer MorONta?

If we are after him, I can see this one dragging on well into August.
Yeah, said that in the other thread. For various reasons we won't be Real's best buddies when it comes to doing deals for their players. Think they are using us as a way to get silly money elsewhere and when we are the last team left willing to pay north of 50m and we still don't have a striker they will cave in.

I disagree. I bet there's no ill feeling between the clubs at all. The fax machine cock up was just that - a cock up. They never really wanted De Gea THAT much. We have dealt with Real Madrid a lot in the past and usually come to a deal, see Van Nistelrooy, Beckham, Ronaldo, Di Maria.

This will happen in my opinion.

And he really wasn't as bad as is often made out. In the 02/03 season he started to look pretty good and made a really good contribution in that title winning side... Then we sold him to Chelsea.

He'd probably suit our current side really well if he was around in this era.
Yeah, we signed him when we had arguably the best midfield four in europe. When we signed him the initial elation didnt take long to turn to confusion at where he was supposed to play and who was supposed to make way for him.

Yeah, i think when it came time to pull the trigger they wondered if a world class goalkeeper was really a priority to be shelling out on and backed off.

I am not saying he's not got good stats. But people on here are going on like he's guaranteed to be a success and one of the best strikers etc etc. Let him do it for more than one season. I hope he goes Madrid if he puts the same numbers up at Madrid for a couple of seasons, I will hold my hand up and say yeah he's the business. But lets be honest we're not in a position to sign someone like mbappe. We need experienced players at the moment. If we had a settled title challenging squad I would sign him.

Fully agree. A total risk and will block a huge sum of our transfer budget.

I might get a lot of stick for this but along with a Zlatan replacement, we should try to sign Vardy. Will come cheap and guarantees goals.

I umderstand why you are focused on his stats but however way one spins it, what are the odds that Real Madrid's second center forward, Juve's former center forward, Spain's center forward and a player Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte seem desperate to make Manchester United's number nine, is merely an average player? We are talking about two elite teams, two elite managers and a top 10 country in football.
Thank you for asking. As I have nothing against the kid, Madrids second striker and Juventus second striker does not have to be an elite striker. Becuase he was/is a player sitting on the bench. Let me ask you a question. Would you spend 90m on Benzima? If the answer is yes then I cant argue with that, but if the answer is NO, how are you willing to pay his substitute 90 million?

If we are goint to compare him to other strikers in the market like aubameyang, Cavani, Kane, Suarez, Lewandowski, No where close to them, If we compare him to second tier strikers like Lukaku, Benzema, Aguero, or even Jesus the last city signing for only 40m. He is not fast like Rashford, his best work is inside the box, otherwise he is almost useless outside the box as he very poor linkup and that's why Zidane put him on the bench cause he had difficulties in linking up the play with the midfield. He is a good poacher, but nothing special. When I say average, cause he is not first tier strikers, not second tier either. And in a club like Man Utd we deserve someone much more better, if want to compete with best teams in europe.

Of course I don't 'know' but if you can't go by anything that's posted on Twitter this page and the whole Transfer Forum would be pretty pointless don't you think?
Yeah but even then you have some sort of filter. Iirc Sky Italia is hardly a reliable source.

Maybe a deal for ddg to go the other way next season?

Anyway, won't Morata basically just be a berbatov mk 2 for us?

No, completely different players. Morata defends from the front. Works hard by closing down passing lanes. He's fantastic when counter attacking as well. Morata is very fast and at times played as a winger for Juve. Saying that, he is also very tall at around 189 cm. Basically everything Berbatov should have been.

Apparently it's £30m instead of €30, apologies, but that's what Twitter reports are saying at the moment yeah (based on Sky Italia most of the time). I'm not fully convinced by De Vrij though, he's a very good defender but he has a worse injury record than Sturridge and that's saying something.

All good, all good.

Dunno has he had any major injuries since that ACL injury he sustained fee year back?

No one cares but yes I would pay 90m for Benzema. He would transform our attack.

This one is intriguing, as the references sound much stronger than for any other player.

James and Morata would certainly jazz things up, in an area that severely needs it
Pogba linking up with Morata again could be interesting

Tbh, like most players overseas. I didn't know much about him until he was mentioned in here. Then i just looked for him on YouTube so I'm far from the best judge on player ability.

Didn't hinder Rooney having a successful career with us or Vidal at Juventus and Bayern.
Vidal was very professional while on the pitch, and he did get along with Conte very well.

The issue is that hobby of his of wrecking sport cars while drunk as feck

Mou is a known fan of attitude problems :wenger:
On the contrary, that says that he did his job as a professional and performed when called upon. He is unhappy being a backup at Real Madrid as he has every right to be. Wanting to be a starter when you're good enough to start at most top clubs isn't an attitude problem.

I think Morata would score 20 goals in any attack in England.

Based on what exactly? He's never managed more than the 20 goals he got this season and that was playing against far worse and less organised defences than he will be facing in the Premier League. He didn't score against any of the top 4 in La Liga either.

Are we actually going to sign two players from Real? Morata seems the more likelier of the two

Although there's always the risk of them seeing us as a step down, or not wanting to leave, there's also the massive positive of buying players from the current Euro champs! They won't be overawed by the level of club

Unfortunately it looks like we are. We are signing Spain's Wellbeck. And James.

Are you for real?

He scored 15 league goals this season whilst being a backup player.

Welbeck has scored 38 league goals in...a decade
