No they are not. A bad season for Dortmund and Atletico means nothing. They're a better team than us but their status as a top club doesn't come close to ours. We're talking about losing hundreds of millions of dollars if we continue to have bad seasons whereas clubs like Atletico aren't affected nearly as much by a few poor seasons.
Rooney and Ronaldo was well over a decade ago, it does not compute to the current environment of world soccer. Rooney was a guaranteed success so maybe we'd still be in for him, but we wouldn't be able to take the chance on Ronaldo being our main man when he first came here. Note, this is RELYING on young "projects" not about not signing them at all. We NEED strong strikers, not more projects, we already have those in Rashford and Martial
I don't think that's the case, just that he's not what we need now. If we had a more complete team and were looking to round out the squad with different tactical options and he was available for a reasonable price, I don't think people would be so negative about him. It's just that we need significant improvements in the attacking areas, not marginal upgrades on squad players.
