Agreed. He'd have been a far better #9 in this LvG system than Rooney is going to be.

In hindsight letting RVP go was a mistake. He would have scored about 10 goals despite he's passed it. 10 more goals is good when you have an attack like ours.
Yep, my thoughts. I can't see how LVG could rate Welbeck so low and then want to go all out for Martial. Yeah, Martial may have a higher ceiling but they do seem pretty damn similar in style.

Desperation is not the answer. Woody's attempts to be clever with the second half of the transfer window have back-fired. The best thing to do now is to wait for the next window. The financially weaker clubs have learnt a new trick this window from the likes of Everton and others, that if you can resist enough then you can get double or triple what a player is worth.

I find it unbelievable that we will pay 70-80M Euro for him. I will rather wait for update from RMC who first broke the news. 50M Euro as such is a lot of money for Monaco for a player who is not yet world class and whom they bought for just 5M.

Never heard or seen this Martial guy before so have had to resort to a quick youtube recky..... looks generous at £15-20 mil, considering he is in Ligue1, and hell if you only look £15 - 20 mill on youtube your real value is probably half that!
I do sympathise a little with Woodward when he is given a list of names to get that is basically a World XI. We should have accepted much earlier we couldn't get Ramos, Bale, Muller etc. and decided earlier we didn't want Pedro (which I don't believe).
