60m plus a player on loan? feck me, sounds ridiculous. If it was more established player, like Lacazette, ok. But for this Martial fella? Not my money, but talk about getting fleeced...

But let's say they want Wilson, or Perreira, it would actually be good for us if they play. Of course if the loan is without a clause which they can use to buy the player.

Shambles, a window that promised so much is now closing in a comically bad way. Woody and LVG'S heads ought to roll for this.

However good he is, atm, I really cant see him improving us, just yet. Unless, hes Ronaldo or Messi level, in which case, why is no one else after him?
From what I can tell, he's rough around the edges yet, physical and quick but not a great finisher? That's basically a younger Welbeck, ffs, though probably with a lot more potential.
No way. But prices have gone up a lot since then. And we're dealing with Monaco who really don't need the money. Plus, they know we're desperate.
That's why I was wondering, if he was that kind of prospect, I wouldn't have worried about the price, as we've(relatively) made similar moves before.
This RMC Journo seems to rate him pretty highly.

That's a pretty strong endorsement!

To think during 2009-2012 United were getting slammed for the way things were run, for doing exactly the opposite of deadline day drama.

I think we've been comical the last three transfer windows. Letting Fellani's clause expire only to sign him few minutes before deadline finished, The Herrera debacle, Fabregas etc etc, apparently pulling the plugs on Kroos and Garay when LVG came in, constant chase of Bale + Ronaldo, Ramos, Pedro, Neymar.

Imho Woodward is a bit of a joker when it comes transfers. LVG has started to show a bit of frustrating with him after the match today. Doesn't help and Woodward just seems to focus on wanting huge names.

If that €55m rumour was correct then it's only £3m off their valuation. With them wanting a player on loan, not sure why they would tbh. They bought in Lopes, who you would have to assume is a ready-made replacement in the support striker role. In terms of a striker, there is Wilson but he would be needed for the squad here imo. I'd rather try and tempt them with Pereira, who needs the games and is adaptable enough to play on the wings as well as a 10.

what are you trying to say? That Woodwrd wants a star player that van Gaal wouldnt want? Please, thats not how it works. Van Gaal would gladly take them too, but they arent easy to get. The problem is that we are so slow to move on/decide, that we leave it so late for whatever reason.

This has to all be bullshit?

Its just too bonkers to actually be real

This is magnificent  And here I was thinking about going to bed; now I can't wait to read what they'll ask for in the next 10 minutes :wenger:

May as well pay an extra €25M and activate Griezmann's release which is reported to be £58m. It makes more sense but we waited too long and Atletico won't sell this late, they ain't no small-time pushover team. And for him to want to leave even if his clause is met would be totally disrespectful to them.

Stop quoting the price in euros you tools.
If he were English he would cost 30m pounds upwards, look at fecking Stones / Kane.
Apparently he's a genuine talent, can't see how signing a 19 year old to mould is a panic buy.

:lol::lol: This is awesome. If it is true, it would be more laughable if we fold and give into their ridiculous demands than if we sign him at this point. If we sign him for this amount on the penultimate day of the window after missing out on Pedro for £22m then we will never be taken seriously ever again! :wenger:

Its pretty embarrassing how we are suddenly following crumbs of tweets with random nonsense and then proceeding to discuss it as if true.

60m + Rojo + your Sony home cinema
 Now that Andy Townsend isn't commentating on the Champions League anymore then my primary reason for getting it is gone, but I'd still not trust United to get decent value for it :(

Le Parisien are not reliable at all. Would wait for RMC to update us on this speculation.

If I am correct, this price has not much to do with last day of the transfer market. Maybe the loan deal, but not the price.

They have valued him at least 50m euros before, so we knew that and that's why we have bid that much from beginning.

Chelsea already were thinking of him and the price was simmilar.

Very true. But we muppets need something to help us through the last remaining days of the window. After yesterday's performance; ANY attacking transfer sounds good.

They sold James Rodriguez 65m after an average season, granted he had a great world cup but still.

That's the thing, they sell potential here, so even if we had bid in july the price would be at least 50m euros.

Exactly, in his current level is a 25m player but he isn't supposed to stay at that level.

This Martial guy doesn't make any sense. Why do we need a potential right now when we are in dire need of someone with a bit more experience? I'd rather we pay OTT for some one established rather than someone who has potential. Players with potential swing either way, not always favourably in long run.

Thats questionable. They sold Kondogbia and the CB for peanuts (compared to Martial), while both very good and talented players.

There were reports of Chelsea wanting him, price 50m euro.

Kondogbia went for 30+5m euros, and he is a def. midfielder who is not rated as much as Martial, still not cheap. Everyone I know is saying that the kid is great and a huge potential (ok, it is only few people as not many watch the french league).

I am not saying that I am not wrong, but I don't think that they would have sold him under 50m euros this summer.

watched some youtube clips of him.
Main thing i noticed was that the french league is shit ...

It really does look dire.

(maybe its u-21 matches? Defending is comical)

No wonder Monaco/Mendes are pissed at us since we pretty much ruined every chance for a big payday for Falcao. Maybe they will accept Rooney on loan?
