Several weeks ago Griezmann's release clause was 60 mil. EUR.

Now Monaco want us to pay more to get a youngster who has barely scored 10 goals in Ligue 1.

Would be shambolic from United, unless Martial turns out to be the new Henry (which is dubious).

So it's shambolic, unless he turns out to be good. Don't hold back, stick your neck on the line... you could be a journalist with insight like that.

If true and he's already been to us and agreed terms, then this is obviously a deal we've been working on for a while and the media just didn't know about it. My guess would be we've just made 'formal' contact with Monaco after a few weeks of informal chat and it's the formal bid that someone at the club has picked up on and leaked.

Maybe LvG is happy for Rojo to leave as he doesn't like his attitude? Purely a guess.

It would be madness getting rid of him and Evans. And signing nobody.

We got more games this season and smaller squad it seems.

It was supposed to close today but it's a bank holiday in the UK. So clubs have been given extra time.
Yeah i know that part about bank holiday but i thought it will still end at midnight just a day later. It is strange, at least to me, that a deadline is at 6pm. I thought if there is some reason why at that hour. This happened before? I can't really remember deadline time being in the middle of the day.

6pm tomorrow for English clubs. Midnight tonight for everyone else.
So other European clubs have a deadline of midnight tonight, but we ( an English club ) can still purchase from their respective leagues on 1st September, up to 6:00pm, but they will be unable to buy players from the EPL after midnight tonight?

It used to be 11pm I think!

I don't believe for a second we're offering Rojo on loan as part of any deal. It would be mental after letting Evans go

That's right.

People moaning about panic buying, would you rather we just didn't sign anyone now?

It's making me laugh that people actually want us to go after average premier league players like Berahino and Austin but then moan about potential signings because they aren't the finished article and won't improve our first XI immediately.

Madness is a word I'm hearing a lot at the moment. I just hope there is things going on behind closed doors that we have no idea about.

It's the case of the money. And if Rojo is a part of the deal, which I think it's not or so I hope, then it's madness.

Even the most deluded on here have to see that 50 millions is crazy money for a 19 year old. We should do better with that kid of money

Its clear that we fecked up in signing a striker this summer, and now every club knows how desperate we are.

Why not sign a striker on loan with an option to buy, whilst actively scouting until the transfer window reopens in Jan? It feels like the club are panicking and rushing through deals at extortionate rates in order to address the deficiencies in the squad. A loan deal for an experienced striker makes much more sense, in my opinion.

I agree, but maybe the manager has fallen out with Rojo, after all that nonsense about missing the pre-season tour of the U.S.? LVG can be a bit temperamental where players are concerned, but it would seem a less than logical thing to do so late in the window.

Not every club are willing to lose a player so late in the window.

He played 60 minutes for the reserves, if LVG was angry when he missed the flight I'm sure he's passed that.

I agree that we should definitely not entertain the notion of letting Rojo leave now. The money doesn't really matter if this guy will add a much needed spark to our attack. Van Gaal, regardless of what you think of him, is not someone who seems like he would go throwing cash around on a whim or on someone he hadn't personally vetted or studied.

Look I'm positive as the next guy but this is a serious situation we're in now. I hope we've done our homework on him. But as it was said for the same money we could get Griezmann. Who knows maybe this is a smokescreen for someone else. :D

Asking a 19 year old to carry your attack is a big ask and risk. Especially when the other attackers aren't really in great form. This window is screaming for someone like Ibrahimovic.

Not buying this Ibrahimovic nonsense. For one, he won't move to Manchester, secondly, he's not going to be able to work with Rooney
