I don't think we would let ddg go unless we had a replacement sorted .
Unless we're going with Romero which I very much doubt .
We got the Dutch player of the year for 14m so I can't see cillesen costing much more .
(Not that I want him mind)

I believe Cillessen is now the reigning Dutch player of the year.
Also, as Ajax previously said, everyday which goes by, the price goes up, because of the nature of the "last minute deal".
If I were Ajax I'd want at least £25M for Cillessen.

Why does the Spanish transfer window close tomorrow?
Surely the transfer window should be identical for all countries?

Seems pretty uniform to me :

France, Germany, Spain, Italy and Holland's closes on Monday 31 August at 23:59.

The Premier League and Liga Portugal are the outliers among major European leagues for some reason :

Brilliant signing for Wolfsburg.

Wouldn't be so sure about that to be honest. Drazler is a major talent no doubt, but the prime quartet of him, Goretzka, Meyer and Werner at Stuttgart have somehow stalled a bit in their progression. Still young so you never know, but along-with Gotze they haven't taken the next step in their development, atleast in terms of what was expected of them, though fitness issues have played a part in most of those cases.

Come on, that ball took 2 deflections. He's not at all at fault. It is question if we need a nr. 1 if DDG leaves though. Either we have a replacement lined up or LVG is happy with Romero or which still could happen all these stories about deal getting done are bs and David will stay.

I admit I'm not judging with huge amounts of evidence but LvG said yesterday that he isn't sure on Romero himself yet due to the defence being tight. Doesn't suggest total faith to me. As I said though, if DDG goes I'm sure we'll have a replacement sorted. If not, he won't go.

Schalke is an awful football club, they keep signing shit managers, they keep changing the system and the atmosphere in the club seems awful, all their youngster should leave as soon as they can.

Wolfsburg doing good business. Draxler and Praet are great young players, Dante is a bit shit, but they need a bit experience for the CL i guess.

Yep, agree with you on that, some of the managerial appointments and decision have been awful to say the least (Roberto Di Matteo!). Wasn't long ago when their youth team was being celebrated as arguably the best in Germany, one that could push Dortmund in the Revierderby, or maybe even propel the club into league contention in the future. Unfortunately for them, it hasn't worked out so well so far. Should've pushed for the signature of Tuchel a bit more.

PS : Maybe we should take advantage of the chaos and steal their youth team coaches for the reserve and academy team ? Heard they have a couple of good ones. :)

Next summer we should have a United only Twitter thread. It is a bit annoying to come in here to check new posts only to see that York City have bought a new left back and so on.
The majority do prefer this setup..for some of us, Redcafe is basically our football paper and almost all the news comes from here, except for any links we find here....

He isnt a 25m keeper, that would put him in the top 5 most expensive keepers ever..we are better with Sergio in that case..

IF the £29m story is true then take the money I say. We have shown we are not for messing with and we are in a much weaker negotiating position than Madrid so it just makes sense.

However, Romero is not good enough to be number 1. He hasn't done too much wrong but his reactions are not great (down very slowly for the Carrick own goal) and he's had a few dodgy moments on the ball.

I believe we'll have a replacement sorted if we do sell, no idea who though.

DDG is not without faults either, you know.

But they don't want to sell and we'd be desperate to buy, they can ask for whatever they want. Van Gaal has said Romero hasn't proven himself yet so I really doubt we'd go with him as our #1.

Even if Madrid bump up their offer by 5m we'd still need to pay about that ourselves extra for whatever keeper we wanted so a deal just doesn't make sense now (unless we get Navas in return).

The prices in 2015 are so high, you cant compare him to other GKs that moved years ago when the market was less insane.

I know that, but we can keep DDG if we feel that we cannot get a good deal elsewhere..25M on Cillisen is a rip-off in any language..

He has trusted him as his no.1(Romero) even after just two days of training, and used him at AZ too..He will have no qualms using him if he needs to as he has shown this season.

We knew about the DDG thing all summer, not having a plan would just be shambolic on our part.

Close to 40 mil Euros is a terrible deal for Cillisen..probably even in 2020...and goal keeper prices havent really gone as high as the rest of the prices with Cech moving between rivals this year for just 11 million..

That was a total different scenario. Chelsea let him leave because he was a great servant. Like Schweini to us in that sense. At the end of the day, if we want to buy a player which is the best at his club and that club is Ajax on the last day, of course we will have to overpay.

There's no one on God's green earth that can justify spending £25m on Cillessen. Luckily, it's all paper bollocks and we aren't actually going to spend that much on a keeper as average as him.

Rather have Romero as our number 1 keeper than this Cillessen guy.
Cillessen is a better keeper than Romero. It's the fee that I'd have an issue with. Looks like it would be 20m+, and I don't think he's worth that.
