There's no one on God's green earth that can justify spending £25m on Cillessen. Luckily, it's all paper bollocks and we aren't actually going to spend that much on a keeper as average as him.

Of course not, but if he is the option van Gaal wants, so be it.

That was a total different scenario. Chelsea let him leave because he was a great servant. Like Schweini to us in that sense. At the end of the day, if we want to buy a player which is the best at his club and that club is Ajax on the last day, of course we will have to overpay.
Or we can just keep our current number 1..Romero played in the Dutch league too and excelled, and has even more experience than Cillisen, so we wouldnt be any better of with him anyway..We have paid sensible fees this window, and I cant see us paying more for a gk than the top star in Dutch football..We arent crazy, neither is Woody

I'm sorry , but if we as normal football fans know that the Spanish transfer window closes tomorrow..what prevents a journalist with all the research material he needs to find out the same?

Exactly. But then Ogden didn't even know about rules for seeding and pots for CL in a particular year, so no surprise he doesn't know this.

possibly de gea is off and lvg knows he needs valdes so they've found a truce ?

Now that is a scenario that I would actually be okay with.

DDG is not without faults either, you know.
Well no player is but surely you'd say reactions wouldn't be one of them and that he's a far better keeper overall? In any case, it's pointless debating DDG's abilities because the fact is he may not play for us again and certainly won't be with us for long. So we need to think about the next number 1 and I don't think Romero is that guy. Happy with him as number 2 though.

This would mean that we have:

DDG
Romero
Valdes
Johnstone
Lindgard.

Have I got this right?

5 GKs and we could be in for Cillissen. This would make 6.

If we terminate Valdes contract do we just have to pay him a year's wages or would there be some sort of clause making it even more expensive?

As per the rumors we weren't getting any money from the Valdes deal anyway so he can leave anytime later as well on a free transfer

If DDG stays and Navas has an incredible season at Madrid, what happens this summer?

I believe Monaco are paying part of his wages as part of the settlement between Valdes and them for withdrawing their deal with Valdes once he got injured

Bristol City bidding £6m and now this. Where are they getting their money from? New investors? They've not seen the top division in (nearly?) two decades. If they're gambling on reaching the Prem and cash windfalls with 1 signing then they're risking falling like Leeds, City, Portsmouth and Wigan did.
I think in part it's due to the new FFP restrictions that come in next year where they can have £30m loss over 3 years, everyone is going for it, especially as qpr got away with a £60m loss when the limit was £8m

iirc, Monaco are paying him what they agreed to in the first place, so normally United pay nothing or next to nothing for Valdes.

Next? De Gea leaves on a free to Real and Navas leaves for somewhere.
There was a lot of rumours about a potential Navas - de Gea swap earlier in the summer. After last night, I wouldn't be against it. Seems a bit too flappy for the PL but you can't fault his shot-stopping and agility.
